February 4Feb 4 And P3D v5.4 with 100 add-ons looks better than all of them XP, FSX, MSFS 2020, MSFS 2024 … and I have the evidence to prove it! February 4Feb 4 Another of the hundreds of threads that abound why someone likes 2020 vs 2024, Yawn! This is a topic that has been posted about to no end! Doesn't solve a problem and doesn't convince anyone of anything. Edited February 4Feb 4 by tpete61
February 4Feb 4 I've actually deleted 2024 since I got the alpha version of 2028. Really enjoying the new haptic feedback suit that comes with it.

I don't think 2020 has that many followers here at AVSIM, but in other forums and reddit there are always very active topics annoyed at how now after SU16 last year 2020 is now served the 2024 visuals. Comments typically centre on what is described as the "cartoon" look of 2024, which to many looks like those HDR oversaturated photos you see in used in real estate or holiday resort photos. Also a frequent diffrence commented on is that 2024 has a glaze or vaseline over the image look compared to 2020. I note you have used addons to change he appearance of 2020, so you can also use addons to better tune the visuals in 2024. by default, 2024 is yellow tinted, and this goes someway to making the colours in 2024 'cartoonish' leading to the visuals you describe. I have found an excellent way to make 2024 visuals look more natural is to use ReShade and a suitable profile to tune out the yellow tint and over saturation. The profile I use allows the vibrance of the image to be tuned to ones taste. The 'glaze or vaseline' you describe is also removed with this profile. Take a look at this video from TwoToneMurphy. I had it installed and set up in ten minutes. Downloads: ReShade: https://reshade.me/ Sealed Sky Preset: https://flightsim.to/file/85376/seale... Haven't used either since around September last year, fed up with the state of them either 'as is' or with the bugs introduced from updates. I'm trying to keep up to date with the progress of both, and will probably start flying again soon as development is improving with 2024, and 3rd party support for 2020 is dying off. So you’re not flying at all 😱…???

I take a look at 2024 occasionally after each major update is released but for me it doesn't meet my 2020 experience. The major advantages for me of 2020 is the ability to edit and the tune aircraft config files to exactly how I like them (I fly only the DA-62 - IFR usually around 8,000 or 9,000 feet always live time and weather), the ability to have flights and starting locations saved as files, the ability to start in the cockpit cold and dark without work arounds, and the biggest issue for me I think is the 2024 is the user interface - for me thats the showstopper. If 2024 ever has a sim update addressing the user interface and allowing to start directly in the cockpit I would be more tempted to shift - but until then 2024 sits on my system unused. You had me until “interface”…

Physics alone is enough to relegate 2020 to the dust bin What else do you “need” that isn’t provided by something like the Longitude, TBM, 172 or Cabri…? Oh, right - an Albatross 😁

You can certainly start directly in the cockpit in 2024. It's how I start every flight.

February 4Feb 4 With reshade, are you just changing it to what you perceive as more realistic or just more to your liking with what you want to see? I'm enjoying Star Citizen VR over everything right now, this Vulcan engine performance is pretty amazing on a 5090/9800X3D. I'm running mostly max settings even with the photo realistic clouds ON. Descending through a planet's atmosphere and volumetric clouds are just something else in VR.
