Dave's GSX Profile Manager

Featured Replies

Just a heads-up on a new app that might be quite helpful for GSX users.....

https://flightsim.to/addon/105454/dave-s-gsx-profile-manager

Description

A standalone desktop tool that scans your MSFS Community folders and cross-references your installed addon scenery against your active GSX Pro profiles. It identifies which airports have configurations installed and which ones are missing as well.

I would like to allow users to download GSX profiles directly from the manager, but due to flightsim.to API limitations, this is not possible. Thus a button to take you to flightsim.to with the ICAO for the relevant airport pre-searched in GSX Profiles is what I've done.

Bugs will be present no doubt, so don't hesitate to dm me at 'fsdave.' on Discord if you find any 👍

Some miscellaneous sceneries may be classed as airports, like tree removal or static object sceneries. Not much I can do about these as it's quite difficult to filter these out depending on how the developer has configured their package.

Thanks for this, it worked great and found some that I thought were already installed!

This is an absolute gem of a utility. Just a note to all Addon Linker ()or similar) users: make sure you enable/activate the sceneries you want to check before you run the scan.

The links back to Fs.To are a great idea for finding any missing profiles.

I've been a bit lazy on looking for profiles and installing them.  In fact I haven't even installed profiles for the 5 planes I use and yet it seems to work quite well w/o a profile.  I guess part of this had to do w/ some profiles that I did install didn't work all that well anyway as perhaps the gates/ramps I launched at weren't in the profile.

GSX itself does include native support for some aircraft without really needing an external profile.

I don't know the entire list.

I'd love to see a packaged set of essentially perfect profiles for all major world airports I would happily pay for this package, in fact I'd happily pay what I paid for GSX Pro for this amendment to make GSX work best.

"We define “major large airports” as the top 50 busiest airports globally by passenger traffic, there are 50 such airports worldwide Wikipedia. These are ranked by the Airports Council International (ACI) based on total passengers (enplaned + deplaned + direct-transit passengers) and represent the busiest hubs in the world."  (from Copilot)

Or, one could package them in regional sets.  Seems like a big project but then again there must be a lot of GSX Pro users out there so could be a decent gig.

It found three duplicates which I wasn't aware of. No idea what affect duplicate profiles have on GSX but it can't be good.

Before purchasing an airport I always check there is a GSX profile, preferably an official one by the developer.

It only partially worked for me, had quite a lot of scenery added through addon linker which was just not picked up as even existing

Not sure if this is my lack of comprehension of your wording "added through AL" but did you activate all your sceneries with AL before running Dave's App? If not, this would explain why they were not detected.

Interesting! Any pattern in the ones not detected? I use Linker and didn't spot any missing ones ... but will check!

GSX picks one. If you go into its customization options it will show you that there are multilple profiles and you can then chose yourself which one it should use.

Here: 123 total airports, 119 missing profiles. AHAHAHAHAH!
