Who would keep a email that has an expired download link for proof of purchase?? The original email with install key should be enough.

You would think. I just emailed them and they said I have to buy it again if I cant send it from the original email as their 3rd party vendor will not allow anything else and they cant do anything manually. Guess Ill sit this one out or keep using the 2020 version.

I do the same.  In gmail I have a label I use for MSFS2024.  Also had one that I used in the past for MSFS2020 and P3D.  Highly recommend.

Sure it takes 30 seconds if you have the original 2020 download link email.... The whole idea that you need to find a random email from 4 years ago and respond to that then you get the upgrade for fre

If that's the case, I won't be updating the 2020 version.

Yeah I responded that its unfortunate to lose a future paying customer and that nobody else in the flightsim world does it this way, Having a valid proof of purchase should be enough, But like other said having to keep an email for 4 years or longer and hope it doesnt get auto deleted or even accidently deleted is pretty upsetting.

I sent them an email saying that I didn't have the original email with the v1 download link anymore. (Note that I still can access this email address, this is just the original PACSIM email that I don't have).

I included my name, address and my v1 serial number.

And they replied with the download links for v2 (msfs & msfs24) and told me not to delete those emails anymore.

Found old email in moments, clicked link, pasted appropriate request (see post in original link), got two new emails with new links in less than two minutes. Procedure works splendidly if you've got the original emai, and to be honest I don't know why you (as in "one" rather than anyone in particular) wouldn't keep all such emails filed away anyway. It's not like email msgs take a lot of space, especially if you compress them occasionally. My "flightsim" local mail folder has almost 8000 msgs stored, and is taking less than 1 gb. In fact my entire email folder setup takes about 8 gb, and that has got everything going back around 16 years. Would have been even longer but I used to use Outlook Express as a mail client until one day Microsoft decided to delete all my folders. Thunderbird these days and regular backups.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

The idea that you need to keep an email for years that has an expired download link for the possible future scenario of a free upgrade to a simulator that didn't even exist when you bought the original product because "why not" just does not fly....

Literally EVERY single other dev has figured out how to make this as painless as possible.  Then what happens when Reno, Seoul, Cleveland etc. get released.... Same thing? Its embarrassing.

Then stop buying his scenery and only buy from the ones you don't have to worry about. I've been purchasing PacSim software from the early days and will continue to support him. He is a one man show and makes great scenery. Anytime I've run into issues or had a question he has always gotten back to me immediately. I can't say that with other Devs. He's always controlled the distribution of his scenery so there is no surprise. Maybe post on his FB page and suggest a better method of distribution or ask the question why he does it this way. There is nothing embarrassing but some of these post. Seems like he's helping those out who no longer have the old email.

I noted on PACSIM Facebook that KSLC distribution had been stopped due to  server overload, and some folks are having trouble with MSFS 2024 Installer not able to find the CONFIG.OPT file and the install also freezing. Does anyone know if these issues have been resolved? I want to wait until they are sorted out.

Scenery photos look gorgeous though.

I just was able to download the V2 and 2024 from them. Both installed okay without issue, so I assume they fixed things.

It's the same email. At least for my 5 purchases through Pacsim.

No issues getting the upgrade and installing last night.

I never delete a purchase email, a quick search for pacsim in my account turned it up and the upgrade took only a minute or two to arrive.
