May 18May 18 So, just for information, it seems the BlackSquare TBM for MSFS2020 had received an update to make it compatible with MSFS2024. I completely missed it and just discovered it a few minutes ago, after checking my orders from JustFlight: for my TBM order, a new link appeared to download the MSFS2024 version. Silly me...
May 18May 18 I can't seemed to figure out how to reach Black Square. Hard to believe I've never tried before.ANYWAy...does anybody know if they are working on a native version 2024 of the amazing TBM850.As others note, the developer is quite active in the JustFlight Black Square subforums.AFAIK, any updates are on the back burner for now. 2024 compatibility is fine, but of course not native. For me, however, the biggest complaint remains the rather lackluster sounds - particularly when compared to, say, the Turbine Duke. He's been asked about this many times, and it seems he's open to the possibility of a future update, but there are no immediate plans and he's obviously got a lot of pies in the oven. And just in case someone misunderstands my "complaint" - I still love the TBM. It's my go-to plane when I want to go fast and high (by my single-pilot GA standards) and I love most everything about it. But I do value good audio, and miss what his other newer planes with Boris sounds bring to my ears.Scott
May 18May 18 The Black Square TBM 850 is a MSFS 2024 native addon. Although it is not modular, it was built using the MSFS 2024 SDK. This can easily be seen from the fact that it uses KTX2 textures. Greetings Tim My files on Flightsim.to i5 12600K | 32Gb | RTX 4080

I stand corrected - thanks!Scott

I feel like that money will be better spent on the Starship ;)
May 18May 18 I'd look at it as two separate questions: is it usable in 2024 today, and is there a bigger native refresh coming later. From the posts above it sounds like the first answer is yes, but the second one is still speculation. If it were me, I'd buy it for what it does now, not for an unannounced future update. If Black Square does more with it later, that's a bonus, but I would not count on a timeline until they say so on the Just Flight forum.
May 18May 18 Author He says it is a native version. I dont remember that but I stand corrected. There is a seperate file for the TBM just for 2024 so it very much up to date.Did not seem like there is any immediate plans for changes at this time.Time to update and take her out for a spin. May 18May 18 Anybody knows how to make the copilot visible in the TBM in MSFS2024 ? The weight is set to 170 in the EFB, but the seat is still empty :/
May 18May 18 Anybody knows how to make the copilot visible in the TBM in MSFS2024 ? The weight is set to 170 in the EFB, but the seat is still empty :/Pretty sure Nick has disabled visible copilots in all his 2024 aircraft due to lack of the ability to control the size and position enough to keep them from clipping into things or otherwise looking out of place. I think the JustFlight forums have some notes on how to modify the ini files to enable them yourself but I'm pretty sure they are all disabled by default. I think he's left the options in the tablet in case things improve and he can enable them to meet his standards.
May 19May 19 I'm STILL very tempted to buy this addon as I have a special place in my heart for single engine turboprop hot rods! :)But, truth be told, the Turbine Duke is so well executed that I feel like the "old" 850 would be a let down if I purchased it now. I feel like that money will be better spent on the Starship ;)I own all of Black Squares’ planes and thoroughly enjoy all of them. The 850 is a great plane for the money and goes on sale frequently. It’s well worth owning, only let down by the sounds. But the Starship is his best plane to date IMHO! Go for it! 😂

May 20May 20 I'd look at it as two separate questions: is it usable in 2024 today, and is there a bigger native refresh coming later. From the posts above it sounds like the first answer is yes, but the second one is still speculation. If Black Square does more with it later, that's a bonus, but I would not count on a timeline until they say so on the Just Flight forum. What do you mean by usable in 2024 today? Ah yeah of course it is. It's still my favorite Black Square aircraft. Tim and I have updated many of our paints from 2020 to work in 2024 (I don't think I updated all of mine, it's just too time consuming). The exterior sounds are acceptable but not Duke or C208 level. The internal are still very nice!I doubt there's a modular refresh coming but I have no idea! As Tim said it is a 2024 native plane built with the 24 SDK. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 20May 20 Author As Tim said it is a 2024 native plane built with the 24 SDK.This is all my fault. I was so sure it was just a port. I registered to the Justflight site and BlackSquare confirmed it was indeed a NATIVE 2024 version.I own all of their planes and yet I missed the TBM somehow.Flew it last night. Still a great plane. There is no plans for any updates at this time unless something comes up and if so they will look into it.BlackSquare was very quick to answer my questions and was very open to listen to any concerns.
