July 4Jul 4 As someone that got Argentine citizenship some years ago, I was obviously rooting for Argentina. But man, these Cabo Verde guys made us all nervous. I think I suffered this match more than even the 2022 finale, or even last week's Colombia-Portugal (which I loved, despite the result and the disallowed goal). I had heard about Vozinha's superb performance, but seeing him and all his saves against Messi left me speechless. For those who ever watched Captain Tsubasa anime, this Argentina-Cabo Verde could pass as an episode. My deepest respect to the Cabo Verde squad; they deserve to be welcomed as heroes when they get back home.The worst part was knowing that Colombia had their match immediately after. At least, Colombia won in just 90 minutes. I never thought I'd end up exhausted after watching a couple of matches, but I'm twice happy with the results. England’s goalkeeper filled out a highlight reel just on his own.Quick question for those in the know: what did the Mexican goalkeeper do wrong to earn a penalty which led to England’s 3rd goal? I was in our kitchen at the time preparing dinner for our cats (who tend to be distracting when hungry) and we have a really small tv, so I couldn’t make out what the announcers said about the play & with the small screen, it looked light the goalkeeper threw himself into the bath of the ball handler to stop the ball. What exactly was the penalty?
