Have you tried renaming your community folder and deleting your user cfg file and letting FS rebuild new ones. Make a backup of your user cfg before deleting. I'm sure it's not SU6 that's causing you issues because many others would have reported the same as you. Apparently, something didn't go well with your update, so why not go back to a vanilla install with nothing else interfering with getting you going?

I am not suggesting SU6 is the problem for everyone. It just corrupted my system somehow. I did a complete uninstall and when I try to reinstall, it sticks at 97% and never completes the installation. It created some kind of network snafu within my system and nothing I've tried has worked. It is a network issue because I tried running FS2020 and none of the ground textures load.

Given that SU6 was released only yesterday and you’ve had the problem for 3 days it can’t be SU6 that is the problem …

I am happy to report that I was finally able to resolve this and it was indeed Map Enhancement Tool that caused the problem. My mistake with the Hosts file was I simply deleted the addresses at the bo

Have you tried loading the simulator with an empty community folder?

You can also try a repair... the standard "verify integrity" route:

https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016125019-How-to-repair-Microsoft-Flight-Simulator-on-Steam

Similar process in the Xbox app if you purchased from the Windows store.

Edit: just saw you posted as I was writing the above... if it's stuck installing, definitely confirm your community folder is empty and try renaming the config file as others suggested. These do not get wiped during a reinstall. I believe the rolling cache isn't cleared either, so deleting or renaming that file may help as well:

Did you reboot your computer after the uninstall? And did you reboot computer after reinstalling 2024?

You mentioned you flushed the DNS. Did you change the DNS to an alternate one like Cloudflare or Open DNS?

That's what i had to do when i have unusually slow connections to MS servers for the sim.

Yes, but that didn't work either.

just be sure to rename your original community folder before you start update.

Totally unnecessary.

have you ever run the map enhancement tool in the past?

Unless you have it backed up then why run the risk. Changing the name takes seconds versus potential hours of heartache.

Cheers

Because there is no risk. The folder does not get touched by updates.

It may not get touched by updates, but it will interfere with the loading of 2024 if there's a corrupt addon causing the issue. Renaming the folder is the quickest way to eliminate while troubleshooting.

Runs sooo smooth for me now. Go watch islandsimpilot who explains how to get your sim ready for a sim update.

I forget exactly where it is but there's a setting/file that the Map Enhancement Tool changes in MSFS.

That might be the problem.

Here's a link I found on Github, may be helpful.

It's at the bottom of the page. https://github.com/derekhe/msfs2020-map-enhancement/issues/545#issuecomment-2164967960

Pay attention when removing it this way, msfs2020-map-enhancement modifies your hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\host). You will need to edit it manually, else you won't be able to use online bing data anymore from msfs.

I've had that happen and the easiest solution is to delete your hosts file and windows will rebuild it for you.
