How to remove (or completely hide) commercial jetliners

Featured Replies

I will never take the time to learn how to fly big jetliners. Is there a way I can remove them, or at least completely hide them from my system?

Thanks.

I'm watching this tread. I've always wished there were some filters beyond Airplane/Other when selecting aircraft. Yeah, you can use the search bar...

Yep there is a way and i use it all the time as i dont fly helicopters or gliders or GA planes....

If you download a program from FSTO called MSFS 2024 Content Wrangler.. it gives you the ability to hide any aircraft or scenery or airports or missions, in fact everything in the menu, so that they dont appear as a selectable option...

It does this by editing your XML file (it makes a backup before changing anything)...

Ive not had any issues with this at all and been using it for months... so now my plane option are my Fenix and inibuilds planes.. may be worth investigating if ive read your post correctly?

Edit your own content.xml.

AppData/Roaming/Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024/user name

Edit it with Notepad, change anything you don't want from 'Activated' to 'UserDisabled' and save it.

For example - <Package name="fs24-asobo-aircraft-b737max" active="UserDisabled"/>

That looks perfect. One more question about it: What is the difference between the entries that show 'Asobo-aircraft...' or 'Microsoft-aircraft...' and the ones that show 'Asobo-passiveaircraft...' or 'Microsoft-passiveaircraft...' ?

The "Passive aircraft" are AI-only models that MSFS uses for AI traffic.

So just ignore them when disabling the airliners, as they don't appear in the aircraft selection menu anyway.

I believe back in the FSX days there was a "Favorite" menu where you could put the planes that you used the most, and then only have them show in the menu. MS/Asobo, maybe that was a thing to reinstate in the next update?

They really need a way to sort by actual types lol. Their options are hilarious. You can tell the lack of actual aeronautical knowledge was real.

Add on linker has this for 2024. It’s one of the menu options at the top. You just untick the stuff you don’t want and it goes to ‘user disabled’. You can also disable airports and missions and the like if you wish. I personally wouldn’t go manually editing the content.xml file but use a tool.

I deselect all the stuff I don’t need and just link in whatever I’m flying with addon linker. The aircraft selection menu in 2024 has got very out of hand, with the Fokker 70/100 having different types for the size of the cargo door! 2020 was (as with many things - such as the controls settings - way more intuitive.

or go into the Marketplace then click on "My Library" and look up what is installed and disable the the airplane you don't like.

Doesn't work for default, you need to go in and do it manually.

I think I've done this, but might have been one of the expansion packs airplanes. Otherwise I stand corrected.
