SU6 and Still Delayed Loading

Featured Replies

I have to say, as I read the changelog for SU6, I can't help feeling my heart sink. With all the feedback and reports submitted to Asobo regarding the ridiculous delayed texture loading when changing views, I was expecting this to have been mended in this update. I'm sure for some, it may go unnoticed, but for others, like me, I find it a constant irritant, even though it's apparent for only a fraction of a second. I have to admit, I don't keep up to date with much that is reported from 'the horse's mouth' I get most information from you guys here on the forum. I'm wondering if this issue will ever be corrected, or is it something that is so ingrained into the way the terrain is loaded, that we just have to put up with it. It wasn't present in 2020, I wonder why it is so in 2024? Is there anyone who can share some information on this?

It's "new" since SU4 for MSFS2024 so it definitely is something they can fix, anyones guess if they ever will though.

Maybe because it's in the cloud and 2020 isn't, I've never messed with it, but you could experiment with keeping some area local and see if it made a difference.

It is not. Many of us have tried lots of things, including fully downloading. That doesn't work and I have spent hours chasing my tail trying to fix it. No more - it is just a waste of time. Why it can't be fixed is because it is something inherent in the sim now due to Asobo's 'performance adjustments'. Still, the xbox kids have 100 fps now, so there we are.

It never happened before the SU4 'optimisations'. SU3 was the best version of the sim I had, and performance was fine for me with a mediocre PC.

It doesn't bother some people. These tend to be the people who think is it also alright to see traffic with disappearing gear within a short radius as well in this modern cutting edge simulator.

While I check each update occasionally in hope of a fix, I am at the stage where I really don't care much any more, especially if other simmers and MS / Asobo don't care about it. There are other enjoyable things to do in life.

I have to admit that I do not notice this, even though other issues like the "disappearing AI undercarriage" are obvious, even on my tiny 24" monitor. To be honest, I generally stay in the cockpit for the entire duration of my short flights, but I do switch to drone cam view when I have parked. Even more significantly, I switch from drone view to cockpit view a few times when I am beta testing, but again this is all when I am on the ground. I very rarely switch to an external viewpoint when I am actually in flight.

I stay mostly in the cockpit as well, but the occasional switch outside and maybe I'm not picky enough, but I've not noticed anything to complain about 🤷‍♂️

Hmm, I do admit, I take advantage of different views on my 48" 4k monitor smile By using Chaseplane with different views, I find it brings lots more interest to my flying rather than just sitting in the cockpit. I guess everyone to their own.

Still new posts about this?

As far as I can tell, MS have not fixed it because not everyone sees it. Perhaps they can't reproduce it? I know that I absolutely don't see this rendering delay, but there are users here who I respect and trust, like Bobcat and St Mawgan who I know suffered badly with it.
There are a few certainties in life; death, taxes and new threads about this problem every week. 😊 I'm not making light of it, for anyone whose enjoyment of the sim is detracted to the point that they just cannot use the sim any more.

This irritating 2024 bug has no fix yet. It really breaks the immersion on ground, you change views and frames drops horribly for one or two seconds as others mentioned, then everything is super smooth again, on air no issues, super smooth. You can even pan around your view and everything is smooth, left that view or look down to your center console for a few seconds maybe five to ten and return to your front view and pam! another terrible frame drop again for one or two seconds, then smooth again. So it is very easy to reproduce.

It is like 2024 once you change the view flushes all the rendering from your previous view and just keep everything loaded in your present field of view, change that and everything reloads again so bad, but why this is not happening in 2020 ???

I guess we should live with that and train our brain to skip that ugly part.

No amount of training can make my brain skip "ugly parts" of a flight simulator, so I understand the pain.

The answer could be beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Nothing in MSFS is ugly IMO.

Try looking at that Brest naval dockyard for more than a minute without your eyes begging you to look away. Blurry nonsense, courtesy of the French government.

I don't see a problem in that area, but this is without pg. I don't think it's available there; am I wrong? In any case nothing looks blurry to me.

Performance or lagging texture loading when changing views does not bother me because it doesn't happen. I change views all the time. In fact, I purchased a button box that looks something like a normal external Number Pad so that I have up to 9 views for each plane instantly. With an 3 by 3 interface which I can operate by feel and don't have to even look at to see what I'm doing. I can swap the views swiftly by touch in 2D or VR and no such delay in textures occurs. The views just snap into view. Exactly as they did in fs2020. BTW, I don't fly any planes that require other programs besides msfs to be running in order to fly them.

All that I am saying is that this issue does not affect everybody.

But are you swapping views from inside to outside and then back? Swapping views internally doesn't trigger the issue.
