  1. The default configuration burns fuel unrealistically. To correct, edit your aircraft.cfg file with a text editor such as notepad.exe. In the section titled [GeneralEngineData] change the value of fuel_flow_scalar to 0.7392197. In the section titled [TurbineEngineData] change the value of ThrustSpecificFuelConsumption to 0.4. Save the file.
  2. Tom, you have made a tremendous impact in this world, and your name will continue to be on the front pages of flight simulation history for ages to come. I'm very proud to have met you at the 1st AvSim social. Fair Winds and Following Seas. David Vega, Colonel, USAF (Ret)
  3. Era, I use vroute sometimes. Once I get the route, I keep it minimized in case there are any last minute changes. It automatically suggest a terminal procedures based on runway, which you can dynamically change. Suggest first trying the freeware version.
  4. I don't have the Eaglesoft Citation X, but saw this video. Does it's FMS compute the v speeds automatically like in the video? Looks like on page 2 of the TAKEOFF DATA page.
  5. The one things that caught my ear during the Microsoft Windows 10 presentation yesterday was the free update to Windows 10 for all Windows 7 and 8 users. It is likely this will motivate all the vendors that do not support their products on Windows 8 to support Windows 10.
  6. It's all about weight and balance with FSX add-ons when aiming to create a good immersive environment in which to simulate flight. This not only includes payware airports, but textures, land class, mesh, photoreal, weather injectors, clouds, water, the actual airplane, your hardware, OS, etc. Too much of all of that weights you down--no flight. (In Spanish, "no VAS" means you're not going. ^_^ ) So, it's an issue of balancing it with what one would consider immersive enough for a good experience, and that is subjective.
  7. Would like to know from someone who actually owns the product if there's a difference between it and the 512 clouds in REX Essential Plus.
  8. <speculate>That would be good since it's likely the Dovetail version's price would remain reasonable as an entertainment product, and developers with existing products are also more likely to adapt their products to the Dovetail version without forcing a separate license with a higher price. </speculate>
  9. Have they added flood lights to the VC for night flying?
  10. Is there an option on your blu-ray/dvd player to only read CDs. I don't know if this even exists, only exploring. Also, as your insight tells you, try the disk on a different CD reader.
  11. Ken, I have observed the same. Found this on the web.

  13. It's almost like we have to ask the Food and Drug Administration to mandate a VAS required amount on each FSX add-on label, just like the number of calories displayed for each food product.
  14. Jim, Did you mean to say "An 32-bit program running in a 64-bit operating system is limited to 4GB of VAS..."? Regards, Dave
  15. It all depends on how comprehensive or immersive one wants to make the simulation. We like the more complete payware jetliners over the FSX defaults because we feel they're closer to the real thing. We can say the same with ATC and the overall simulated environment (weather, clouds, sky, water, etc.). For me operating in and out of airport that looks like the it's real counterpart, with taxiways and gates that match the charts, famous landmarks nearby, etc., rounds up the simulation quite well. The cool thing about this little hobby of ours is that everyone can tailor it to their preferences, simulating as much or as little as they like.
  16. Don't worry, at least it's all done by pundits.
  17. I have the same products, and in my case ASN loads and injects weather so much faster than REX. Perhaps you mean that your Internet connection is slow for both programs. For me, ASN injects the weather, and I use either REX or AS2012 graphics for the clouds. I ensure that ASN is in "Live Real time mode".
  18. The cause could be external to FSX. Ensure you have excluded the FSX folder from your antivirus program. You could also try something like iobit's GameBooster to see if it helps. Ensure your hard or fixed drive isn't getting close to being full. From my experience, it takes time to find the cause of stutters, but eventually you will find it.
  19. Has anybody purchased Xtreme Cities X USA SouthCentral that would care to comment about it?
  20. Thank you computerflyer, I've been considering switching to dx10. Thank you zoran. I did delete the fsx.cfg and applied the avsim basic optimizations without success. The mystery has to be in something that is unique to the area since I have no stutters when I fly over several airports in the US. I'm leaning to think that perhaps there's a REX cloud texture or something similar that's unique to that area. EDIT: Changed cloud graphics from REX Essential + OD to AS2012. Stutter still there. :(
  21. Thank you IAN. Had tried your suggestions; stutter still there. My specs are part of my profile, ssd, win7-64, etc. I use dx9. My antivirus excludes the entire FSX folder.
  22. Appreciate any ideas on how to eliminate a difficult stutter that only occurs when flying over Europe. My specs are in my profile. I'm using ORBX's FSG 1.2, ASN B5226. The last things I remember installing were a Ray Smith AFCAD for EHAM, which I deleted and still have the stutters, so it's not the AFCAD. The stutters happen with or without using ASN wx, with the default C172 as with the PMDG NGX. I deleted FSX.cfg and optimized the newly created one with the avsim basic optimization. Over the US, in multiple airports, large and small, payware and freeware, no stutters. The stutter appears to happen at random, and I loose perhaps one or two frames. Someone suggested removing FSG 1.2, which I did, but stutter still there. I'm hoping someone has seen or experienced something similar.
  23. Vernon, Perhaps it helps if you think that RC is simulating real world ATC where typically there is more traffic than just you at your arrival airport. The RC center controller needs you to be at either 11000 or 12000, and max 250kts, about 40nm from your destination airport before it hands you to the approach controller. That speed and altitude is ideal for the approach controller to handle you and the other traffic in that 40nm circle of airspace around the airport. Your FMC should be computing TOD to meet any altitude restriction in points between the TOD and the arrival airport. If you have a point (either user defined, or one that's already there) at 40nm from the airport, with altitude and speed restrictions set, the FMC should take that into consideration when computing the TOD. You mentioned that you couldn't reach your cruise altitude before RC asked you to begin the descent. Could, in this case, your cruising altitude be too high for that route?
  24. Claus, Did you find others that had to uninstall FTX Global 1.2 to remove stutters? I'm wondering if that is my problem.
