  1. Veering off topic a little - Has anyone had any luck using FSRecorder and the MJ Q400? Flight displays, flight controls, sounds are all over the place when replaying using FSrecorder. I'm assuming that because the Q400 is so heavily programmed outside of FSX that replaying a flight with FSRecorder is not possible? Regards, Diego
  2. The Beauty of the H100i is the software that it comes with. The software will control the fan speed automatically once you set your temperature profiles. My 2600K OC'd @ 4.8Ghz never goes above 70c, which means my fans never go full speed, and I can hardly hear them. Diego
  3. I was using OPUS with REX and now changed over to FSGRW. I made the swap a couple of weeks ago or more. I find that FSGRW gives great foggy weather, something I have been unable to reproduce with OPUS. The low vis we've been having in Western Sydney is spot on with FSGRW. Diego
  4. Why not go to your local computer shop and have them build you one with your own specs? I am sure you could get a K series CPU, with SSD, NVIDIA card, Win7 64bit, and no DELL headaches for the same price if not less. Going for a new system for FSX and not being able to OC will come back and haunt you in a year or two when more demanding add-ons pop up. One really really bad thing of going with Dell, HP, Acer, is the quality of their internals. Mobo's can be extremely limiting, PSU are not of great quality, and the chance of actually buying a DOA product is much greater because of the number of goods they churn through. Diego
  5. Press the Z key to turn the autopilot off... It's happened to me on several aircraft, and the side effect of having it ON on the ground is not able to control pitch. Diego

Same in Australia unfortunately... NDB's are all over the place. I do enjoy the challenge though. Diego
  7. Check these out: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/355100-g3ddll-workaroundfix-to-prevent-fsx-crashes/ http://forum.avsim.net/topic/407837-fsx-g3ddll-ctd/ Regards, Diego
  8. Those zig-zag's west of KMIA appear to be S-Turns for either separation, or maybe they couldn't slow her down so they shallowed out the descent and done some s-turns to extend the distance to the threshold. What was the descent profile to the threshold? Steep, shallow or flat? What was the speed profile? Diego
  9. I meant the intakes or more like vents on the leading edge near/on the wingroots. One thing I didn't know is that the VC10 is still the fastest subsonic bird to do the Atlantic crossing. That is COOL! Also, the RAF passenger VC10's have rear-facing seats! COOL #2! lol Interesting video on RAF VC10's: Part1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3sUd0OPv04 Part2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C82AtYBNuc Website full of VC10 stories: http://www.vc10.net/index2.html More info on flying the VC10. http://propspistonsandoldairliners.blogspot.com.au/2009/11/flying-vc-10.html Diego
  10. I totally agree. Stay away from it... Diego
  11. I bit the bullet and bought it after going through my trial in a day. I thought I would try it first with a fresh install of FSX: This was using Historical data going back a couple of days when Sydney was under a cover of heavy fog which closed YSSY. FSGRW & default textures Some others I took today... FSGRW & REX And a video taken at 8am this Morning just West of YSBK over the Sydney Basin. Typical Sydney Morning depicted perfectly with FSGRW & REX textures. I have not been able to replicate this with OPUS & REX, so I am now sticking with FSGRW! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFtAVryDtUw Diego
  12. wow.... How easy is it to miss unsecured cowling latches on an Airbus? I have watched many a pilot do a walk-around, and have always asked myself - surely you could not have confirmed "so & so" is secured just by a quick glance.... BTW - I am not trying to judge here. Just want to understand. I know I have caught myself out a couple of times on a pre-flight check, rushing, while going through the motions, looking at a tailplane way up above me but never actually taking anything in (if that makes sense?) Diego
  13. Hi RJ, It's a IL-62. The VC10 has a different windscreen and eyebrow config. Also the intake on the wingroot of the VC10 looks more like a CD/DVD slot, where the IL-62 looks more like the mouth of Bender from Futurama :He He: Diego.
  14. Here is a short article on use of rudder. http://www.empire-aviation.com/flight-instructors/john-e-mclain/understanding-the-use-of-rudder.html To be honest, I have never used rudder alone to adjust my heading on approach as per the article.... Diego
  15. I love sideslips in real life! Most aircraft do have 30sec limit for sideslips so it's not something you can use for a long descent. Always used cross-control on short-final because I'm not big fan of kicking out just above the pavement. It's not a good idea (in real world flying) to go from cruise power to idle as it will cause shock cooling. Here is a discussion on this: http://www.pprune.org/archive/index.php/t-284545.html In the Duchess, emergency descents were done with gear down, flaps down, no cross-controls req and a MAX IAS of 140kts.... Never have I experienced a more thrilling thing to practice!! On the way down, pitch felt like almost vertical, a windshield full of vegetation, and a VSI needle maxed out, yet the IAS never reached 140kts! Don't quote me on the numbers - I haven't touched a Duchess for a good 6/7 years... Using rudder only to turn... I don't see an issue, but you will have to pitch up to counter the roll effect anyways, so why not just use aileron? Diego
  16. Awesome! Ordered it on the weekend. Can't wait for it to arrive!
  17. Check your control settings and play around with the repeat settings for the trim. Diego
  18. What can I say other than she is a great little bird to hand fly! Chris agrees with me too!!! In real life, every type and and every individual plane I have flown has had its quirks- And that's the thing about this Lear. It has its quirks which is what adds to its character. The only other add-on that I find like this is the Milviz C310....
  19. Withou force feedback - Set your attitude and as you trim, slowly centre the yoke. In a real plane the trim will hold the yoke in it's place (it won't centre) You will notice that if you centre your yoke before the trim is correctly set your attitude will change. So the idea is to trim & centre at the same time while maintaining nose attitude until the yoke is centred. Hope that makes sense Diego
  20. I purchased my current 42" Sony Bravia 3+ years ago to be an FSX dedicated monitor. I did take a laptop with me to JB HiFi and tested several TV models and makes, and not all were able to display FSX properly. That was 3+ years ago though, and I think LED TVs had only just come out then, so I'm assuming a lot has changed since then and using the TV as a monitor HAS improved in new models. Pricing definitely HAS!!!! Diego
  21. WOW... Thanks Mate! It definitely helped me out! Cheers, Diego
  22. Hi Ray, There are a couple of offerings available. The most talked about seem to be anything by Eaglesoft, and the Flight1 Mustang. There is also the 800XP from JustFlight (which IMHO flies like a dog!), and my personal favourite, the Xtreme prototypes Lear20. There is something about the Lear20 package that gives it huge amount of character, and she handles great (although most would disagree with me on that one...) Diego
  23. I will be adding the texture mods to the library, but it won't be for a while yet - way waaay too many work commitments atm. Diego
