  1. Now that you say it John, that's the reason I couldn't find any FPS impact: I was using your fix! Thank you very much for this.
  2. The consensus here was that, with v5, Vector was redundant. However, with the default v5 vector scenery, I was finding some road elevation inconsistencies in several places, like Heathrow and Kai Tak, i.e., airport roads were over 100 ft AGL. While I don't know what made me install Vector, I do know that I no longer have these issues. I can't comment on FPS impact, I haven't noticed anything yet.
  3. That's the owner! Sometimes BBS activation servers go bonkers and the only way to get some support is texting BBS via Facebook. Glad it worked for you.
  4. Thank you all for your quick replies. Except for using other sims, all would work as soon as I get back online. Sadly I'm still offline, and won't be able to fly MSFS for another two weeks (because I'm going on holidays). I'll have a very tough conversation with my ISP at my return...
  5. I selected installation into P3Dv4 and then (P3Dv5 root)\Blackbox Simulation folder as destination folder. It works for me with no issues.
  6. Looks like I was wrong. I stand corrected: That's before arriving to Córdoba, with the sceneries I mentioned above.
  7. Not in my MSFS days, but, until P3D v4, I always flew in laptops. For the previous 2 ones, I used Throttle Stop for limiting the clocks to something between base and turbo frequencies. Instead of getting >90ºC CPU temperatures, I was getting just 70-75, depending on load. I'm not sure if Intel still allows this though, they may have locked the feature. None of the cooling pads I ever used worked at all, regarding thermals. A couple of Coke bottle caps for raising the laptop a bit did the same for less $.
  8. Well said: HAD. Consider development of these birds as finished years ago. Expect no further improvements from their side and you will be happy. With that mindset, I find the A340 and the A332 are very enjoyable, specially when using the 2D panel. VC is too crude for my liking. Anyway, if you wish, use the manual installer and point it to the P3D v5 folder. But you need a Navigraph subscription for doing so. Any of the Navigraph options is enough for that.
  9. Yes, it's a strange question, but I have to ask it: is it there a way to improve the default offline ground textures and autogen? I was thinking about something similar to Orbx Global+Buildings for FSX and P3D, so that I could enjoy MSFS while my connection is down. As of now, FS8 looks better... ------ Background (you may skip it if you wish): my internet service has been failing in my neighborhood since last weekend, with no solution from my ISP. The only thing they have done is to give me 50 GB of mobile data every 3 days so that I could use my computer with that. They also gave me a discount for the days I've been offline. But phone signal in my apartment is bad, and my phone warms up too much after just 20 minutes of flying MSFS. I could switch ISPs, but they would need to install all the wiring for the whole building, and they won't do that for a single customer.
  10. I hope Asobo will listen to these fifty picky testers 🙏
  11. Well, actually MSFS has a better method (in my opinion). Check either Community or Official folders: the folder structure is the same one as in the P3D addons, without the need of creating an add-on.xml file (although editing JSON files are a black art for me). That's why, for freeware, a simple drag-and-drop usually works.
  12. There are several great things about MSFS, but most of the ones arrived in 2022 (i.e. Fenix/PMDG/Maddog) or earlier (FBW, default ground scenery). Also, there are still several things that make me run back to P3D, but were carried over from previous years (availability of historical or at least sim-time-synced WX, disabling transitions between custom cameras, etc). So, limiting myself to things that happened in 2023, this is my personal ranking: Best: - Frame generation mod. Now I no longer need a new GPU to sustain 60 FPS. And more important, I can now bear the transitions between custom cameras better. - WT enhancing all the default avionics in the 78X and 748 (and then Kuro and Horizon Sims extending them to the 788 and 789). - A2A coming to the game. I never thought I would happily spend $50 in a GA plane; when the most I've ever paid for one was just $17 (also for an A2A bird). Worst: - It's been more than 3 years since release, and there aren't yet any proper longhaul airliners, with all the functions available in previous sims. And I'm not talking about PMDG, but at least QW 787/Aerosoft Airbus level. Yes, there are still some things that aren't yet properly done in the MSFS 787s, like VNAV, but I won't extend here. - As an Argentinean, the fact Marketplace stopped regional pricing here and started charging in USD (at least for the Steam version). Addon prices therefore skyrocketed for me. Now I have to think at least thrice before considering an addon. - Regressive bugs in MSFS, specially in the A310. The most detailed default MSFS bird is sadly the buggiest one since SU14. Disarming a bomb is more relaxing than loading the A310 without getting a CTD or blank screens. And while I understand there's a fix already developed, Asobo/MS' inertia for releasing it is exasperating.
  13. My bad, I understood no improvement at all; not a downgrade.
  14. Did so for Colombia and Argentina. However autogen in Colombia (and my hometown) was rather poor. I had to replace the FC Scenerys autogen with the one from here: I also got Panama and Uruguay from them. However, I need to keep at least 5000 ft AGL in order to enjoy them the best. Also, no night textures 😪
  15. Check your settings. Also, it's very possible you're CPU limited.
  16. Oh yeah, will be very useful. Try it. If you don't like it, just return to your old settings.
  17. Yes. Last year, I spent more on P3D-only addons than on MSFS-only addons. This year, the only MSFS addons I'm considering are yet to be released. I also have 2-3 P3D addons in sight.
  18. I do. I bought it for setting up my hardware. I was already familiar with FSUIPC 3 thru 6, and I had a discount (for having the previous versions), while I knew nothing about AAO and spad.Next (other than their existence). That's maybe the first thing I got for MSFS, as soon as I realized I couldn't assign controller profiles natively. Then I saw I also needed it for running PF3.
  19. Using their BGL flightplans, right? If so, I'll give 5.3 a try.
  20. I'll try downgrading the Client in case I still get lockups. I had some after v5.4, but I dismissed it, thinking I was just too greedy with my settings. Nope, but I extended the method you described once: I didn't only copy the APX*.bgl files, but also the CVX*.bgl (airport backgrounds) and OBX*.bgl (bulidings and other objects) from my P3Dv4 installation, and pasted them into v5. Except for an AFCAD I did for v5 (which I had to adapt and recompile for the v4 scenery), I haven't found yet any aircraft inside buildings or any other showstoppers.
  21. Now I see why you pay Chillblast, @Ray Proudfoot. That's some kind of support I don't see down here... Did "downgrading" to 5.3HF2 affect your Concorde? I only updated to v5.4 (and "downgraded" my sceneries to v4.5) because there was an update.
  22. I also did so: I can't stand the display blurryness I get with DLSS.
  23. With FSHud, there are still two setting for FSLTL: static aircraft limit (% of total) and static aircraft limit total (absolute number). However, couldn't get any satisfactory settings in MSFS with FSHud. But you have a 14900k, so it won't be a problem.
