  1. Exactly! Total config time for full X-Plane 10.45 + all addon aircraft/scenery/utils on a fresh Win7 install - about 5 hours. Total time for full config of P3D & FSX-SE on same fresh Win7 install - 5+ DAYS! It is a shame that virtually all other Flight sims are Win-based only....
  2. Hi Ray - just to let you know I bookmarked your excellent article on "Cessna and the Citations" a couple years ago Jim
  3. Hi - I can give you some info on WN's -700/800NG fleet changes in recent years: 1. In 2010, they switched from the EFIS/MAP/Side-By-Side Engine info layout to the PFD/ND/Over-Under Engine info layout, with single-cue flight director. 2. They installed HUDs 3. VNAV was also added 4. Their entire NG fleet is fully RNAV approach capable w/RNP/ANP 5. Callouts - no idea? 6. Some of their NG series still have analog standby instruments, but I believe the newer planes utilize ISFDs Maybe someone else here can also comment? Jim
  4. Hi Ray - I don't have the F1GTN yet, but I will pick it up soon. I'm definitely interested in this mod...PM sent! Thanks, Jim
  5. Hi Maddog525 - if you only have FSX-SE installed, the folder is FSX, not FSX-SE, so the path will be: C:\User\David\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\dll.xml. I had this problem, but I fixed it by copying the relevant code block from my P3D v3 dll.xml file. Another thing you could try would be running the installer again and choosing FSX as the target and not FSX-SE. Good luck... Jim
  6. Ray - thanks very much for your work and dedication to this great hobby we all share! Jim
  7. Hi CJ, You insert your previously saved scenery.cfg into this path: c:\programdata\Microsoft\fsx. Note that programdata is a hidden folder, so you have to have the option of "show hidden files, folders, and drives" radio button selected. To get there - 1. open any system window (i.e. my computer) 2. from the menu, click Tools-->folder options 3. from folder options dialog box, click View tab 4. click "show hidden files, folders and drives" radio button 5. click OK (BTW, very smart of you to make a backup of that file, and do it before you make any drastic changes!) Jim
  8. (Real World)--> TMR/REF softkey Menu softkey --> "All References On?" Enter softkey
  9. Hi Dave, Thanks for your suggestions. I've submitted a support ticket to both FS Estonia and Leonardo...hopefully they'll come up with a fix. I've only used the migration tool when I've needed it...I do not leave it active; I always disable virtual FSX when I'm done using it....this is what puzzles me...it most likely has to do with some registry entry....but which one?! Thanks, and Happy New Year! Jim
  10. Hi - I've tried to install it into a new FSX-SE setup. It installs ok BUT when I go to the Manager/Configurator to set up all parameters, it tries to write the file to my P3D directory, and it fails. Also, I have to cockpit visible when the plane loads. I have used the migration tool previously without the FSX boxed edition installed, in order to install some planes/sceneries into P3D v2.5. Could this be the problem - because I've used it, and there's a "dummy" fsx.exe file in my P3D folder, it's thinking that's where it should write that file? I've tried removing the dummy fsx.exe file, to no avail... Any ideas on getting the Maddog working in my case? I'd really like to get it running, as it's a superb aircraft! (It worked fine when I had the boxed FSX Gold Edition on my system....did a complete rebuild several months ago, with new hard drives, and never loaded FSX Gold on it again). Thanks, Jim
  11. 737NGX, as I fly on those regularly with WN ....love the NGX anyway, and more airfields can be utilized with it than the other choices. Your NEXT simulator AFTER that would be the 777-200/300
  12. The P3D 727-100 Base Pack is NOT a free upgrade. It's 29.99 Euros (I think that's the symbol). The -200 and Freighter models ARE free upgrades for P3D. (I was able to get the FSX v2.4 to work in the current P3D version just fine via the migration tool).
  13. Hi Aaron, Have a look at this lockonfiles page - http://www.lockonfiles.com/topic/40369-installing-p3d-25/ - I used this to do a "clean" installation of v2.5 after 2.4, then apply most recent hotfix, then redo my add-ons....worked perfectly. Good luck, Jim
  14. Eric (Flic1) - try going into the mytraffic folder's scenery folder, and deleting the AF2_KIAD.bgl file (just move it out of your P3D directory structure completely), then let the scenery library rebuild. This method cured the problems I had with FSDT's KLAX, KLAS, and FSDreamteam's KPHX. I still have the last version of mytraffic installed...haven't upgraded to today's release yet. Good luck, Jim
  15. Hey Folks, Yes, thanks, I know the window_size parameter needs to be changed. I did it for the F1 Cessna Mustang, and it works great with the 3-screen environment....I didn't want to go through 40+ window definitions in the MD11's panel.cfg! Fortunately I found a reworked panel from a youtube video post's description from Andreas Stangenes that eliminates the problem. He also put links to his reworked B744 and B744F panels, and they work great also. If you search youtube for "Flickering mouse PMDG MD11" or his name, you'll find his video with the links! Thanks, Jim
  16. Hi - I've just tried to fly her again after a long absence, with a triple screen setup, and am having the same spinning mouse cursor-extreme response lag due to the 2D panel sizes. I only use the VC, never the 2D panels with my setup. To nuitkati - or anyone else? - can you please send me via PM your panel.cfg with your resized 2-D panels? I'd really appreciate it! Thanks, Jim
  17. Thank you, Captain Randazzo, for filling all of us in about Tom. I, too, have lost those most dear to me to cancer, and he was fortunate that the disease took him as quickly as it did. My dad was also fortunate that way - only 1 week of suffering. My deepest condolences to all of Tom's family, loved ones, and friends in this time of grief, and I thank him for creating this great forum community that has served and will continue to serve us so well over the years. RIP, Mr. Allensworth, and eternal blue skies to you!
  18. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends, and a big thanks to him for creating this community. RIP, Mr. Allensworth.
  19. Hey Ripcord, Yeah, I did a quick circuit with it, and all seems ok, smooth flying and good frames here, too. (I really wish Leonardo would update his Maddog for P3D though....that and FSL's ConcordeX are the 2 planes I still use in FSX....I wish PMDG would update their MD11 too, but I doubt seriously it will happen!) All best, Jim
  20. SOLVED - I found the answer, and the panel loads and works fine....I had to use the icon selector panel and select the VC, and voila - it appeared!
  21. Hi All, I've tried to install the CLS MD80 into P3D v2.5 (w/current hotfix applied after initial install, prior to any add-ons) with the EMT. The plane will load, but there's no panel displayed in either VC or 2D. I fly exclusively in the VC as I have a triple monitor setup. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I haven't tried the LHS Maddog, as I've read it won't work. (How I wish it would be updated to work in P3D!!) Thanks for any help/ideas, Jim
  22. Hi Alexandre, You're welcome, and yeah, I'm waiting for QualityWings to release their 787. I'm sure it will be way ahead of the Aerosim version, which is really just a slight step above default FS aircraft. A more accurately and deeply functioning FMS/autoflight system is what I'm really hoping for, as well as compatibility with all GF hardware. (I know it's not going to be on the same level as PMDG's amazing stuff!) But for right now, the Aerosim is the only one with a functional VC, and since I use a triple screen setup, I can only use airplanes with a working VC. BTW, the plane also works in P3D v2.5 when installed with EMT. Also, if you have the ISG gauges (payware), there's a panel.cfg that uses them, though it takes away the Aerosim PFD/ND screen and uses the ISG screens. All the best, Jim
  23. Hi Alexandre - it's mostly compatible with GoFlight modules - radios (GF-186), switches (GF-T8),lLanding gear/flaps/trim (GF-LGT II), RP-48, P8 - all work ok. It's only partly compatible with the GF-MCP-Pro - course, ias/mach, heading knobs work, altitude is weird, vert speed is ok, FD, A/T ARM switches are ok, AP Engage buttons ok, other buttons are hit/miss with it. Hope this helps.... Jim
  24. Hi Steve - thanks for the info above....so, I should uninstall both the GIT and the previous PMDG tool before installing this version, as it covers both previous tools? Thanks, Jim
