Steam broadcasting is not FSX specific. It will work for all games once it's released on Steam very soon.

User error.

Oh noes, 100MB... That's about 1% of my total memory. How about you check the current memory usage of your browser when you make this post? Go on

If you only have FSX on steam, then no, it's not needed. But if, like most PC gamers, 80% of your games are on Steam then it's nice to have Steam start on start-up. I don't run any unnecessary programs and I'm very thorough about this, but Steam is an exception. Don't forget Steam is also a social platform where all your friends are on it as well. Besides if you don't want to you can just turn it the auto-start off in settings, or via MSCONFIG etc. This information is indeed used, and publically showed, as you can see here: http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey However, Steam won't upload this unless you agree to the survey. It will ask you randomly if you want to participate and upload your Hardware config (and installed software) to Valve. This is used so they know their market and see what trends are developing. Don't forget Valve makes games as well. Not to mention it's the survey results are a quite intesting by itself.

"Just" a gamingplatform? It's the platform that boosted or arguably even saved the PC gaming industry. It's awesome. Praise GabeN.
-
Wow, €5. I expected the the price of €20, which would be way too much for me considering the age and changes of this game, but never expected them to give 80% off right of the bat. I'm actually considering buying it now just to have the license.

FSX: Steam Edition for Take-Off on December 18
Squishy replied to FINXPAS's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
Why not both? -
You're right. I just find it peculiar that arguably the best aircraft in flight simulation will be out of reach for many customers on the only platform that has any sign of a future for this hobby. I for one won't be spending $150 on an addon aircraft. Nothing stopping simmers from enjoying NGX within FSX? Sure if you don't install more than 5 other addons..you might be fine. Guess I'll add my own favorites before I got fed up with FSX after the 100th BEX, DLL or general crash at final. 1) NGX. 2) A2A 377 (love the startup procedure, sounds etc.) 3) RealAir Duke V2

FSX: Steam Edition for Take-Off on December 18

Why Microsoft would not give Dovetail all the rights to change FSX is beyond me. Assuming you won't be able to use your CD key and activate on Steam, there's absolutely no reason to buy this at all... and I don't undertand why Dovetail would waste money on buying only the distributing license. Now, imagine FSX being opened up for Dovetail so they could work on it like Lockheed, but then with Steam updates and Steamworks Mod support like Skyrim... It's about time someone steps up and fixes a 2015 FS platform that is not riddled with pathetic licensing issues. -
An OS is not a means to an end.. it has features, performance, looks just like a sim.
-
You can easily have Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8 on the same computer... But why would you? The only reason people stick to old sims is because the their software is not (yet) supported *cough*.

Possibility of getting PMDG's work on P3D v2.1
Squishy replied to Zoho30's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
But no official update since 25 Nov 2013..!! It's been more than 4 months now... -
You want excellent performance in P3D, well, try this!
Squishy replied to simmerhead's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
Or just buy SLI 780ti for a fraction of the prize when it becomes supported in P3D. -
Waiting for P3D 2.2 and PMDG support... then I'm in
-
They could, you know, work together.
-
It seems still on P3d2.0 the ground shadows/autogen shadows are OFF? so it doesn't show full potential difference.

for the lucky ones already flying V2 : graphic card ?
Squishy replied to Dominique_K's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
A couple of static building shadows can make a 780 GTX struggle? Jeez I thought P3D was supposed to be optimized. -
MAGICAL SOLUTION : How to avoid OOM in any simulator! Including P3D V2!
Squishy replied to Alec's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
Heeeere we gooo CTD threads for P3D. I guess nothing has changed. I will wait for v2.5. -

Squishy replied to Dominique_K's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
You're kidding right? You think FSX is modelling the entire Earth in real time? It only simulates the region you fly in and generates the next part as you're flying. I guess the need to generate the next part will give cost some computing power..but even if that would cut FPS in half it would still run better. Btw it's not like there's no physics either. War thunder has flight dynamics perhaps even more sophisticated than FSX (I'm not sure) not to mention the damage model which doens't even exist in FSX. -

I'm surprised GPU's like the 780 Ti and titan are even mentioned on a forum like Avsim. These cards are the absolute top of the range and given the graphical presentation of P3D these cards SHOULD be absolute overkill. Heck, a 780 ti runs battlefield 4 maxed out at 2560x1440 no problems. For comparison, a normal 780 runs War Thunder at 200-300fps !! and it looks WAY better than P3D 2.0 even with mods. http://cdn.overclock.net/8/8b/8b8c92f0_warthunder2.jpeg http://warthunder.com/upload/image/1000x700/shot%202013_05_09%2007_11_54.jpg -
FXAA /= AA It's a postprocessing effect.
-
Lol you still have to manually set affinity mask? Then what is all the multi-core optimization they talk about all about?
-
TBH the FSX pic looks better....especially the water (REX?)

DX11 - I guess I'll have to wait for P3D
Squishy replied to 1st fltsimguy's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
Agreed except DX11 has nothing to do with P3D being able to take advantage of multi-core CPUs.
