  1. I checked and I did have a layer set, I removed and tried it and still it gave me fog, albeit, the visibility was much better.
  2. I am liking it too... However I just landed at EGKK with a metar of 151620Z VRB02KT 7000 BKN021 08/05 Q1021 And my approach was this.. (sorry for large size) HAve I made a mistake in the settings? I did set the 'set global visibility layers' to 10sm
  3. Flightaware.com allows you to input departure and destinations and gives you flight info between the two. I just tried it, and the website appears to be going a little fubar. EDIT: scrap that, it works fine.
  4. PMDG, As a lover of updates and a hater of none updates. The thing is still only going to be released when its released. How about you troll some of the trolls and don't give us any updates and in a few months times say
  5. I bought the 737 NGX from Simmarket and my parcel arrived today! I get home to find that it has Ideal Flight in there, and not my much wanted 737. After tracking the order numbers, Someone in America, who had ordered Ideal Flight, is probably about to receive the 737. Lucky 'born before parents where married' (damn autocorrect)
  6. As they have now officially stopped supporting the title, Does this mean that they will release the source files for it? I know we have prepar3d, but there isnt a personal license for it.
  7. How many activations is FSX allowed? I have reinstalled FSX at least 20 times since I first bought it.
  8. If the above fails. CTRL+ALT+DEL load task manager, Right click FSX and click maximise.
  9. Currently flying this little beast from EGLC to EKBI. I have a bit of an issue where its very very very unstable, the bird keeps banking left and right almost 90 degrees each way. Has anyone had this problem before or know how to resolve it? Thanks Jack
  10. Id suggest continue flying your GA aircraft in IFR conditions. Create a route and navigate along it without the use of the GPS. Set your global weather to rubbish, try setting the visibility to around 500m from ground level to 10000ft, That way you are flying blind for the entire flight other than the use of the instruments. Ensure you're arrival airport has an ILS, turn off all AI traffic, and dont use the ATC. Planning your arrival will take a little bit of brain power as to make sure you are lining yourself up correctly. Soon as your comfortable with flying like this, You'll find flying the heavies a whole lot easier.
  11. It seems like ORBX enjoying creating the scenic areas of the world, Whats more scenic than the ALPS, potentially the Himalayas, but the population is scarce in that region.
  12. Im currently flying east bound across the atlanic, (over newfoundland) Im getting the sideways rocking motion, on the outbound flight yesterday and it was very smooth The only difference in the two flights is a headwind and tailwind, I currently have a tailwind of 57knts, yesterday I had a headwind of about 28knts. Could this be something to do with it?
  13. Im not really a military plane kinda fsxer, but I hear that the VRS is the plane to own if you like your fighters.
  14. I would say keep the swasticas. Its no where near as offensive as the addon to put the twin towers back in the game.
  15. If it helps, I used to use JFs Traffic X, and have switched to UT2, its a far better product imho
  16. Name and shame, copy and paste to here.. Would by my advice.. Ill-advised advice, but still advice
  17. overspeeding on full flaps, with your nose in the air and with an engine out. Ill guess that you are overweight.
  18. Lets just go with a big No. Believing is only ever seeing. I have had FSX installed on 5400, 7200, 10000rpm and a 120gb SSD. I only recently bought the 10krpm drive and before that I had run FSX on the same machine on a 260gb 7200rpm drive with OS on the SSD and vice versa. The only difference is the load times, clearly fsx will load any flight much quicker on the SSD than any non-raid drive, but with fsx on the SSD and the OS on the mechanical, the windows load time is roughly 1:30-2 minutes long. With fsx on the 10000rpm drive it takes less that 50 seconds to load the default flight from the free flight menu, from boot with the OS on the SSD, it takes about 1:40 to load to the free flight screen. If I happened to be a fighterjet nut who only loves flying around at 800kts at 600ft above Orbx scenery, then perhaps the SSD would be the better option. But being the tubeliner/ga rank amature that I am, 250kts or less, below 10000ft and with the need of programs running the back ground such as a weather engine, flight planner, acars software, internet browsers and frankly Football manager 2012 for those long haul flights. The way I have it set up is just fine. For the record, I have also done long haul flights in fsx with the above programs open and running barring football manager but running Arma2 Combined Operations on multiplayer with 30 squadmates battling against AI and still getting 50fps on the battlefield and 25-30 fps on approach to heathrow with shed loads of AI. This of course, isnt proof, because I havent given you any pudding, but it works very very well for me.
  19. FSX doesnt really perform any better on an SSD compared to a 10000rpm drive. Unless you got loads of money and have multiple SSDs, leave the SSD as a operating system drive and install everything else to another drive. [ WD velociraptors arent very expensive these days and hold upto 600gb of data. Saying that, SSDs have come down in price by alot.
  20. Might be best to just get another monitor.
  21. Im assuming this is happening when your taxi-ing, I have this all the time. I put it down to me not travelling fast enough.
  22. Morning, Firstly let me start off with a SORRY! I know this type of thread has been done to death. I have had a search along with looking at addon markets and im still non the wiser. I was planning on waiting for PFPX and jumping in with both feet, but Ive come to the realisation that if i dont keep progressing with the learning curve that is a procedural **, my simming time would dwindle. The way I would do it at the minute is to go to rFinder and get a rough flight plan, from that I would get the sids and stars for the arrival and departure and match them up to my initial and final waypoints. Then off to fuelplan2 for my fuel calculations. But it would appear that rfinder is getting more and more outdated as I found out with some of my recent routings. I also have a 2nd monitor thats in portrait mode, so as long as the flightplanner can be made thinner but longer, all should be good. Thanks for reading. Jack
  23. Has anyone tried the new patch? I havent bought this yet. I only fly these days in a VA and I dont have a spare 7 hours free that often.
