  1. One of my favorite apps, which is why I haven't jumped from FSX to FSX:SE even though I own a copy.
  2. Yes. You need to download the XP plugins from the Saitek site. Here's a second URL, but it's a bit more difficult to navigate although it may have more current plugins.
  3. IMHO The absolute best AI package at this time is Alpha-India Group's stuff. The only downside for FSX users is that it needs to be manually installed. Their AI-Manager makes it easier and the Manual Install Tutorial helps, but it still involves a considerable amount of time. After looking at the results I consider the time worth it. Ernie
  4. +1 I don't foresee this one being a buy it once, then support and updates for the next however years without any an additional revenue stream.
  5. I guess I don't understand the arrows since Jet airways aren't directional like one-way roads.
  6. As for me I could care less about VR. I fly with multiple monitors, Saitek controls, panels, switches, plus some other stuff.
  7. Sorry, I know it's different strokes for different folks, but why do I need directional arrows on a jetway? I already have a flight plan that tells me where I'm going. IMHO, it seems something that is was very functional is getting cluttered.with nice to have versus need to have. Just give me the option to turn this stuff off. Thanks, Ernie
  8. Actually pretty well. However, in reading your comments my computer is primarily a FSX machine and other than MS Office 2007, Adobe 9.5 and a couple other programs everything is in support of FSX. With the software you have it would be a tough decision. The advice your getting about upgrade, then clean may be a better way to go.
  9. type in 'FSX Splash screen into Google and select Images. You'll find a bunch of alternative screens there and you might get lucky and find a copy of the original.
  10. On the 4th I decided to make the transition to Windows 10.. I mean, why fight the inevitable. I chose a clean install of Windows 10 and FSX. Before doing so I backed up my FSX drive as well as ProgramData, Users, My Documents, etc. from drive C:\ I did a clean install rather than an upgrade because it gave me the opportunity to reinstall only those add-ons I was really using and clean out bits and pieces that a upgrade wouldn't have let me do. The decision to go clean or upgrade depends on your ultimate goals..
  11. It's important to note that FSaerodata also requires a subscription to Navigraph.
  12. Could you elaborate. There's only one Nav 1, unless you mean how do you determine what frequency to set it to.
  13. But only for P3DV4 users. DD is the way to go for FSX and pre-V4 users.
  14. Does the flight plan that shows in LNM also list 3000 ft as the flight level?
  15. I wouldn't think a reinstall of windows is necessary. If you're going to do a uninstall of FSX I would recommend downloading the free copy of Revo Uninstaller. Once the uninstall is done select the highest level of scanning for leftovers ( can't recall what that is titled at the moment). Also, when you install it again, place it somewhere other than Program Files or Program Files (x86). I have a folder titled FlightSim Files for all of my FSX stuff, however installing it into C:\Microsoft Flight Simulator X would be just as good.

    reinstall

Captain Pero visits this forum, but you'll probably get more and quicker answers by posting your message at the official SIMstarter NG forum.
  17. Sorry that didn't help. Unfortunately I recently reformatted the Win7 computer that had the issue, installed Win10 and it catalogs the FSX disks. I'll keep you in mind If one of the missing brain cells decides to fire.
  18. I wish I could be of more help. I had it happen a few years back and I think I ended up disabling, or removing Intel Rapid Start Technology to get it to work. However, I've a few less brain cells now and foolishly forgot to document the solution, so I could be way off base.
  19. Haven't tried it myself, so can't say 100%.
  20. I'm running all three of those flight plans from AIG and no issues with seeing aircraft. For Southwest try Midway (KMDW), it's a main hub and usually filled with SWA aircraft. Also,if you haven't, do a second verify that all three BGLs are in Scenery\World\Scenery or wherever you're storing your compiled flight plans. You might also try opening the compiled BGL files, not .txt files in AIFP just to confirm there are no issues with the aircraft.
  21. Little Navmap has it's own section on AVSIM. I would suggest posting your message there or perhaps a moderator could move this one.
  22. I'm not sure that I can, but I'm in the process of doing the same right now. First, I imaged my drives using the free version of Macrium Reflect, in the event I needed to revert to my previous installation. Then I did a clean install of Win10 on C:\, and installed drivers and added the non-FSX apps (e.g. Office, WinRAR, Adobe), printers, etc.. After that I backed up my D:\ drive, which is my flight sim drive and did a format and fresh install of FSX and other FS apps. Of course I'll now need to copy over all or parts of the config files, profiles, scenery, aircraft, etc.from the backup which were parts of my previous installation to the new installation. There is work ahead of me and it will take time to get something resembling the well functioning version of FSX I had, but in the process I will make decisions about what to keep and what to hanger. Good luck..
