Still having stuttering issues with FSX in Windows 10
airernie replied to Ed Kammerman's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
Sorry, no out of the box answers; the tried and true ones seem to help; Check for the latest video drivers, download and go through the AVSIM FSX Config Guide. You might also try running ProcessExplorer while flying to see if something is spiking your CPU or exhausting your GPU VRAM. -
An updated version of AI Companion is now available on the Alpha-India Group's website. The update adds the View AI Aircraft feature that was previously unavailable to FSX users. No docs, but it really doesn't need them. Note: The Live Traffic view may work with UTL, UT2, and other live traffic injectors, but the bulk of the features are designed for those of us who use BGL traffic files such as the default FSX, AIG, MyTraffic, Traffic Global. etc. Pretty remarkable as the author doesn't have FSX.

Changing or adding aircraft to WTraffic

Got to say after my purchasing the EA to Just Flight's Traffic Global you're much more optimistic than I am. -
FSX:SE My Scenery.cfg Never Updates - is this Normal?
airernie replied to Kronovan's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
I haven't used Plan-G in a while, but I thought you had to rebuild the Plan-G database for any scenery changes to be reflected. -
There are a few software authors who next thing I wait for with such joyous anticipation. One such author is Ray Smith and he has just released an updated KFLL. if you haven't tried his freeware airports for FSX then it's well worth the bandwidth and minimal installation effort to give them a go. After you download it, unzip it to any folder you wish (you may have already done that). On the first startup you will get a screen with a bunch of empty text boxes. If you are using FSX, then click on the gray box with the three dots to the right of FSX Scenery cfg text box. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX and click on Scenery.cfg, then Open. When you return to the application there should be a value in the text box. Next, insure that FSX is displayed in the FS Version box and click Scan. It may take a while. if nothing shows up one the green bar reaches the top, then click somewhere near the title at the top of the form. Sometimes it's a bit slow to refresh. Some people shut off deactivate scenery areas when not in use. If that's you then you will need to uncheck the 'Show Only Airports Found in Active Scenery Areas' to scan all scenery. I'm guessing it's not. You may see some dupes if you have Orbx installed. I wouldn't worry about those just yet. The important part is type 'KLAX' in the 'Ident To Find' box and click Find. If nothing shows, then you have no dupes, if something does show please post, either a screenshot or the information that's in the window to this thread and we'll interpret it for you. Ernie

I would start by running Simple Airport Scanner to insure there are no duplicate airports. That way you can be sure there are no duplicates, etc. You might also try re-running the reg file, which should be in %HOMEPATH% . If that doesn't work, deactivate the airport and run it again, by double clicking on it. To find it enter it in Search program and file text box in Windows and hit enter. Ernie

Have you tired the FSDreamTeam forum. AES isn't their product, but they might have some experience with it working or not. Well, hopefully more than buy GSX and you won't have those problems anymore. 🙂

Tempted.. oh so tempted, but have promised myself no more add ons while I save for a new CPU/Motherboard combo.

Critical error - Active Sky 4 with P3D 4.5
airernie replied to gianmarcoragazzoni's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
FYI, Posting the same message on two different AVSIM forums is considered a no-no and can get you warned then banned for repeats. -
In the past I've ignored the Climb, Cruise, and Descent profiles in the SimBrief flight planning section, but figure it is now time to learn what they mean. Playing with the E145, it lists a Climb Profile of 240/270/56 and a Descent Profile of 78/310/240. Could someone explain what the three numbers mean? Also, and this is probably more aircraft specific, but there are multiple cruise options. I would assume that the modeled FMC has to be able to accept the options to use them? Thanks, Ernie

Global AI Ship Traffic FSX and P3D News and Support
airernie replied to KL791's topic in General Freeware Discussions
My feelings are why stress about the release date. It's going to be amazing no matter when it's ready for release. -
Reloaded the FeelThere ERJ yesterday which doesn't have an auto throttle and it reminded me of an issue that I have with both my Saitek TPM and throttle quadrant. The issue is that at certain points in the travel both seem to create non-linear jumps in engine thrust. This makes holding a consistent speed virtually impossible since even the slightness movement at certain points can cause several tenths of a percent of a jump. I use FSUIPC and have the spike checkbox checked, but it doesn't seem to help. My question is, to other flyers of non-autopilot aircraft such as the ERJ, CRJ, etc. have you found a throttle that doesn't do this? Thanks, Ernie.

Have tried your display settings at the Orbx product manual recommendations?

Update your FSX navaid database to the latest AIRAC!
airernie replied to louisgr's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
This from the docs "Replacement of stock navaids BGL files (as well as airport and airway data in the Europe area)may have side effects on generated flight plans, map display, GPS approaches using default sim data (but not those using external providers) and possibly AI traffic and ATC functionalities." So, I would expect the FSX flight planner to have issues. Besides, Little NavMap is free and a much more powerful flight planner. -
Assuming you're using the latest Beta version in the menu Click on Tools - > Options. Select Cache and Files from the left menu. Click on 'Get the Free Globe elevation data here.' link. Click on the All Tiles in One .zip file link which is below the map. Save the zip file (all10g.zip) to a location on your computer. Unzip the file to a location of your choosing on your computer. Mine is in a Documents\Globe Elevation Data. Go back to Tools -> Options, Cache and Files Click on the radio button to the left of "Use Offline GLOBE Elevation Data". Click on 'Select GLOBE Directory' to right of "Use Offline GLOBE Elevation Data". Point it where you stored the downloaded data. Click on OK at the bottom of the window you're good to go.

I ran into this situation today. I have both a Generic USB Joystick and Saitek Pro Yoke. If I try to assign a button on my Saitek to ChasePlane it wants to delete the Generic USB Joystick assignment that uses the same button number. Any chance we'll see an option to allow for multiple devices similar to FSX/P3D/X-Plane, etc? Thanks, Ernie

GSX is discounted 40% until Sept. 15th
airernie replied to virtuali's topic in The Bargain Hunter's Shack
Don't think it's going to be any competition. GSX is a must have for many of us.
