FMS Direct-To not working
thanks. makes FMS completely unusable. I guess I'll just be loading the GTN750 and stop trying.

FMS Direct-To not working
I have the fancy upgraded FMS but I have an issue. When I hit direct to a waypoint, the airplane doesn't go from my current position to the new waypoint, it searches for a path somewhere else (maybe from the original airport?). This issue makes the plane unusable. Does anybody have a fix for this?

Who plays with their rudder pedals while they work?
All day long I am going back and forth and tapping the brakes while I work. Does anybody else do that?

Carenado Hawker 850 released!
I toyed with it a little today. Two things really bothered me. 1.) no autothrottle, might simulate the real thing, I don't know 2.) I can't get the FMS to go direct to a waypoint for anything, just tries to find the gps route then goes to it...

Prepar3D v2.5 Development Update
With a high end computer, FSX is very much out the door for me. I do have it installed for the occasional multiplayer with my non pilot friends. I am happy to see simdirector being developed. To me, the ideal P3D would have hundreds of scenarios built in or downloadable, so that students can go in attempt them. Sort of like the missions FSX had, but less arcade like. I guess I am less of a hobby user and more of a training purposes user, but that is my take on it. I would really like to see SLI figured out. Smooth frame rates improves the simulation experience. I feel like this should be a priority.

Carenado Citation II released...now we get to see how they did
Maybe, a big maybe, there will be an FMS update for this plane when the Hawker comes out all Navigraphed out and stuff :Praying: At the $45 price, that would make sense

Citation II S550 - The (potential) bugs thread
Okay I spent another two hours. Now I'm not disappointed. there is a glitch with the altitude selector, it says it is the vertical speed selector but its the altitude, anyhow. After reading the manual and figuring out what it is, I am a happy camper! I didn't have any crashes the second two hours. I figured out how to load the fms, I can confidently fly a route now! This plane is very flyable in its current state and I am happy. Some of the small glitches could be fixed. I can't get the pressurization knob to turn for anything. I can't figure out how to get the autopilot to fly ascend and descend to the altitudes matches with each waypoint. Turns out most of my problems were user error, go figure

Citation II S550 - The (potential) bugs thread
I have been playing around with this plane for the last 2 hours. Do note, I have never used an FMS, most of the time was trying to figure it out. - This is the only time I have ever had a simulator crash while using P3D v2.4. Over a two hour period, I had one crash using the FMS P3D just shut down, A second time I lost all ability to zoom in and out, and a third time I had a crash while on final. Anybody else experiencing software crashes while using this plane? - I figured out how to get the plane to fly certain altitudes, I couldn't get any vnav functionality to work. Whenever I got into an approach I could not fly to a point without the vertical guidance locking up, I chose the hand fly and given the weather being to minimums today I had a good time. - A positive- I think the handling characteristics are okay, takeoff distances seem to be normal, touchdowns seem somewhat similar to real life. I have flown a couple times as a passenger in a 550 and I felt like this is somewhat accurate to what I recall. - I'm a little bit disappointed that I spent this much. I want to be able to use this plane with Pilotedge but it is too buggy in its current state. I really hope they can come out with a decent update, especially for the fms and autopilot.

Searching for a good FS9 system
golfpilot replied to meesterlijk's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcyour whole upgrade should cost you under $200. Sim should be smooth as anything. G3460 $99 4GB 1600mhz low latency ram $38 motherboard $50 Keep running Windows xp or ealier. the old psu should work i don't see any reason to upgrade graphics card for 2004 The G3460 is better than what you have now in everyway. The single core processing is way ahead of it. Have fun!

new system for P3D
golfpilot replied to morpheous's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcMy specs 4790k @ 4.4 ghz (pretty much stock) 16gb 1666mhz ram cl7 1tb ssd 2 gtx 970's I run orbx everything highest resolution REX highest resolution water medium setting cars 25% carenado tbm 850 or carenado cirrus 22 vatsim Nomatter what airport I never drop under 20. Its a darn good system. If I were you I'd get two GTX980's instead of the Titan Black. When I added the second 970 I got a 5-7 frame gain. (considering I'll spend 10k to get 5 knots out of my cessna, thats a cheap gain) I would also stay away from the 6 core processor, its slower than the 4790k at single thread, you won't benefit. I did and I'm happy with my decision. Now I just need to get a Oculus Rift... (which is what you should get over the 3rd monitor.

Looking at a high end system. What do you think?
I'm running Prepar3d v2 on a 4790k @ 4.4 with two 970's. I run ftx global vector (highest settings), Water at medium setting, REX textures (highest resolution), 25% road traffic, carenado tbm850 or carenado cirrus sr22 Pretty heavy load. Most places it flops around between 40-60, around SFO, LAX, SEA (any city around water) I'll have occasional dips in the low 20's never below 20 though. I am using the H55 to cool. It's a dog an wouldn't recommend it to anyone overclocking. My case runs hot but even in a cool case 4.6 would be a reach with that cooler. The stock 4790k is the best out there right now. Broadwell is supposed to have very little single performance gain so I would say you are making a good computer. If you use Prepar3d, the extra graphics card does help about 5-7 fps, I guess thats about $40 a frame so may not be worth it to your budget.

Anyone using TBM850 in P3D V2.1?
how are you getting 60 fps with the tbm? I'm running a 4790k with two 970's and I bottom at around 20 in thick weather.

One SSD Sufficient for FSX System
golfpilot replied to rlashier's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcAnother good reason to put fsx on its own drive... When you really screw something up and FSX seems like its ruined, just reformat the drive and re-install. It isn't the best thing but sometimes its better than looking all through a drive for one mistake. I've done this once or twice..

Is this computer good for fsx with performance hungry addons?
golfpilot replied to wizkid27147's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcThe computer is going to run it roughly 10% better than my 8350 paired with a 760. If you are looking to get this computer for fsx and its a good price, get it. A $600 build new can outperform this I'd value this as a fsx computer at about $500 new

FSX on Intel Pentium G3258
golfpilot replied to 1234plane's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcThose frames you posted are excellent. The one guy posted about delayed times loading things, do you notice any delayed times? Do you think this cpu can run fsx stock without many extras? I have a friend who has about 600 to spend. I can't decide if the i3 at 100 is a better choice or if this will do and upgrade him somewhere else. I need to give him something extremely reliable so overclocking isn't what I have in mind. I'm really just trying to beat a Redbird...

My mini review of the new i7-4790K (Devils Canyon)
z06z33, this topic has caused me to make the same switch. I am expecting to get all the parts in the next two days! Have a 8350 running at 4.4GHZ GTX 760 4GB h80i 1600mhz cl11 16gb memory 120GB Samsung SSD 1TB HHD I was having no problems playing literally everything, but P3dv2 just isn't working. ANYTHING past default causes drops well below 15. Carenado programs are the worst, tbm850, phenon100, sr22. Unusable, total waste of money... So I decided to just replace everything. New case got a h55 to replace the h80i with in the amd computer herovii mb 4790k 16gb 1600mhz ram cl7 And a GTX 970 SC Two new 512GB SSD's I am hoping this will finally be enough to play all of my add-ons and finally get some eye candy (traffic, weather, etc) I am super excited to yield the benefits! I am starting to get the hang of what runs fsx and prepar3d best, despite all efforts, multi cpu's just aren't the important thing. FSX cpu performance is directly correlated to passmark's singe thread performance test, and Prepar3d isn't far off. According to that a G3450 single threads 25% better than a 8350 and I would bet the house it performs +-5% of that figure. The G3450 is a $90 processor.....

HELP WITH STAR
Its like any approach, thats a minimum crossing altitude, in busier environments your likely to get "cross Tulsa at FLxxx o". No specific altitude it means at or above.

SimControl app on iPad, anyone tried it?
This looks like something I would really use. I think it needs more development before I purchase it though. I use garmin pilot for my approach plates. When flying real airplanes, my location is geo-referenced on the approach plate. in the sim I just have the approach plate on my ipad. If I were to use this app, I wouldn't be able to get my approach plates without leaving the app or using my little screened iphone. If it had location referenced approach charts build into the app just as it has the enroute charts, I would be sold. Preferably matching charts to the time frame of the default nav charts in P3d. So I can use the default equipment.

Which Haswell E and GTX9xx for Prepar3d
golfpilot replied to BertrandM's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcI disagree with this statement. The 5930k is a 6-core processor running at 3.5ghz. Prepar3d v2.3, despite Lockheed's efforts, is still largely single thread dependent. The 4790k single thread benchmark is over 20% better than the 5930k. If you are building for P3d, the 4790k will perform better for you. The money you save you can get another .5TB SSD over the Hard Drive With Prepar3d you are going to want the lowest latency memory you can get. But what you have there is DDR4, and at that clock speed, its going to be great. The 970 is a good card, if you skip on the 5930k for the extra ssd and a 980, you'll be happy. If you plan on using sli later, 970 is good. The 900 series are very efficient. You won't need anywhere near 1000w with two 970s. A 4790k and sli 970's will do great on a quality 750w power supply. What you have there is plenty! The things I don't like in your setup summed up: 1. The second drive being a hard drive. Why? run everything ssd 2. P3d isn't going to distribute evenly across 6 cores. better off with less cores, higher frequency. This also allocates more money. YOUR PERFORMANCE WILL BE BETTER WITH A 4790K!!!!
