Kaby Lake RAM sweetspot
Raven9000 replied to Djang0's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc
Right, of course not, but the thing is that "higher speed" RAM often comes with a premium in cost, with a big difference in some cases, and paying extra for no gain is just a waste of mony IMHO... -

Yes, maybe 10 years ago when FSX was released and ram technologies were quire different and new concepts coming out. Not now. -

There are no benchmarks that show RAM speed makes any significant difference in gaming whatsoever... -

Not really sure why you would think this... there is no such thing as a "RAM sweet spot" for a particular CPU... needed RAM will depend on what you want to run, and a "sweet spot" will also depend on what (I guess the majority of) users run ant the same time. Given the current 64bit, and the fact that your comouter does not "just" run the sim, I would, definitely get 32GB (well in fact I already do have that...) -
You don't have to wait for this, it is already out... So... everything...
-
And to think they lock down so many interesting discussion threads, and not this stupid one...
-
Not really sure what you mean with "my drives don't see each other"... Drives don't see anything. Your OS does. And if you have 2 disks installed both of them will be visible by the OS.

What..?

PTA for Prepar3d v4 Released
Raven9000 replied to MattDavies's topic in P3D Tweak Assistant (PTA) and RealismShaderPack
Yes, well said... I'm sure your time is probably worth much much less... -
Nice! What add-ons so far and location?
-
Yes, he knows it was a sale.. he was asking if the discount wasn-t the biggest yet, even more than the one they have at Christmas...
-
I think you are not understanding how the sim works...
-
Understandable and I *think* I purchased from you directly anyway, so woo hoo... It's a real shame about the F-15 though.... any reason why you don't want to upgrade it? (Even if it was a paid update/new product)

New iMac Pro should be great for P3Dv4 in Windows Bootcamp
Raven9000 replied to Skywolf's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
Don't even know where to begin with this one... -
You are very misinformed. A2A will give out free updates for their V3 to V4 planes. Now if you are talking about FSX to P3D, it has been that way from when the products, launched, so misinformed from the start I would say...
-
looks like you're using some pretty old stuff that you expect to work with sims that came out YEARS ahead....
-
No, I'm not saying that at all, and really wondering where you got that from.. I think I was pretty clear... devs put put many updates through the life cycle of their products. How is it that those updates have no charge, and yet this one, one more update, does, when the dev themselves are not charging for it?
-
So how is this any different than any regular update...? If this is an update, thet the dev is not charging for, then it seems to me like this is a case then where SimMarket is trying to cash in on the v4 bandwagon, nickel and diming us...
-
It's a shame.. I was about to buy LOWI buth the ORBX happened. but I was considering it for X-Plane as well as Barcelona for P3D...
-
I think it's quite obvious... his "reasoning", is that you essentially paid almost 200 bucks upgrading P3D if you count the last 3 versions, "and nothing you get justifies $200" and yet you complain for paying $5... I think he lost his marbles...
-
You can say the same about all external views/models....
