Does Rebar do anything currently? The last time I tested it (by forcing it with nVidia profile inspector more than a year ago) the performance was slightly worse than with Rebar off... Excellent result for a 5800X3D! 1.00 V is impressive, it runs at the same voltage as my 7800X3D. With my CPU I can run -20 offset all-core and do that 30 min stability test at steady 4.7 GHz / 70 W / 60 °C! But I have a 360 mm AIO and the 7800X3D PP is 5 nm. In game it boosts at 5050 MHz all the time.

MSFS and GPU fan noise question
MrFuzzy replied to andy1252's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
As far as I remember, it is possible to create a sort of curve with Intel Xtreme tuning*. This would definitely resolve your instability at idle / light loads. Either this or fixed voltage of course. My old 10850K would boost at 4.8 GHz @ default but I managed to stabilize 5.0 GHz under all conditions once set 1.25V fixed voltage... saving a ton of power and heat too, because the beast VID requested 1.45 V at full load before! If anyone wonders why AMD, nVidia and Intel don't do that, it's because the voltage curves set by the factory must ensure stability for 100% of the chip production. In other words, the default values are the optimal ones only if you are very unlucky and end up with a chip produced from a silicone portion with many impurities. *Example of curve found on the Internet. -
MSFS and GPU fan noise question
MrFuzzy replied to andy1252's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Not necessarily. Even if you are still and doing nothing at the parking, your hardware rendering n frames per second works n times harder than rendering just one frame and going idle. No matter how many things are apparently changing in the visible scene. -
MSFS and GPU fan noise question
MrFuzzy replied to andy1252's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
LOL what? Undervolt usually increases sustained clock speeds and often results in the same or increased performance. The average clock speed of my 3090 is higher since I undervolted it, and the 3DMark score slightly higher. Heavy undervolt and power limiting can decrease the performance but some people opt for it anyway because the tradeoff for a -30% power consumption is merely a 5-10% performance decrease. Undervolt is a very well known practice for 3090 and 3080, there are many guides and videos online attesting its efficacy. -
70 $? It costs more than the sim itself... I pass for now, thanks 🙂

I agree, I just completed a trip in Norway with live weather and the sky looked awesome today! https://postimg.cc/gallery/T6NpVWk

For ILS approaches, you can just import the flight plan you got from Simbrief downloader in the world map, and then choose SIDs, STARs and the ILS approach to the desired runway from there. The ILS frequencies will be tuned automatically and you will have horizontal and vertical guidance on approach.

MSFS and GPU fan noise question
MrFuzzy replied to andy1252's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
The 3090 Ti is still a beast. If you undervolt it with MSI Afterburner and limit the framerate it will get quiet enough and will serve you well until the next gen. There is a comprehensive guide here and many Youtube videos explaining how to do it. IMHO it's not convenient to sell it for maybe 700 $ and spend 1500-2000 $ for a 4090, unless you have money to burn... -
MSFS and GPU fan noise question
MrFuzzy replied to andy1252's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I have a 3090 and I keep it quiet with these MSI Afterburner profiles and framerate limit at 48 fps, which is perfectly smooth with GSync. Optimal values for your 3090 Ti may vary of course... happy testing 🙂 -
DLSS 2 vs.TAA vs. DLSS 3 + FG
MrFuzzy replied to Fielder's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Be careful because there is a big difference between the RTX 4080 and the 4080 laptop... Still a good GPU anyway. -
Potential improvements for sky colors
MrFuzzy replied to Biology's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
The color of the sky at dusk has received more votes in a few days than the horrible tile swapping bug in 11 months. As much as I appreciate OP's initiative and hope it's implemented and gets the deserved credit, I really hope this won't necessarily dictate Asobo's priorities. -
NEW-feature wish list for MSFS 2024
MrFuzzy replied to bofhlusr's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I am using this small addon for windsocks and it works well apparently: https://flightsim.to/file/14024/windy-things Edit: it seems that these windsocks are items supposed to be used in scenery creation, so evidently I checked Asobo's windsocks that actually worked... I agree on the animals BS, even more so if the implementation is like the current one: 4 giraffes, 2 hippos and 20 birds on the entire planet earth and you never see any animal unless you teleport to the specific location they're at. LOL I cannot think of anything that would be manageable by the CPU and realistic at the same time. Not this again please... -
NEW-feature wish list for MSFS 2024
MrFuzzy replied to bofhlusr's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
The only thing I would like to count on is constant improvement. Too many times we had to deal with regressions across sim and world updates, this is not acceptable. Every other game always improves with patches, sadly with MSFS we always dread every update as we know that most probably it will break new stuff or stuff that was fixed before. So, even if FS2024 starts exactly where MSFS will leave, with n deficiencies and shortcomings, I only wish that their number decreases over time and what is fixed stays fixed. -
Same. It makes no difference. Nowadays I'm always using the Map Enhancement Tool with Bing (latest) tiles and it seems to cure the issue, at least in the areas where I fly more often.

Lack of better alternatives? It's not like not liking Call of Duty... if you know what I mean 🙂

MSFS Live weather. I don't feel the need to buy a payware addon, it works well enough for me.

Is this lack of buildings normal?

Have you tried to delete the rolling cache? -
New Sim Update 13 Beta Released [1.34.13.0]
MrFuzzy replied to Krakin's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Most probably due to one or more marketplace purchases. There is a thread on the official forums. No issues here with a few addons. -
Because other "flight SIMULATORS" have a much better ATC, right? 🙂

New Sim Update 13 Beta Released [1.34.13.0]
MrFuzzy replied to Krakin's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Easy, easy... DX12 was released only 8 years ago 🙂 By the way the bug manifests only in external views, if you stay in the cockpit it doesn't happen. -
I recommend default settings, many people have issues after fiddling with NVCP. I tested every setting and never noticed any benefit, there are no magic formulas or snake oil. G-Sync is enabled by default if you have a capable monitor, nVidia Reflex can be activated in the sim settings.
-
Reset MSFS Graphics settings to Ultra, clear the rolling cache (even if it's off) and the shader's cache, reset NVCP settings to default. You should not experience this kind of issue with your config.

Some observations on what impacts FPS
MrFuzzy replied to Virtual-Chris's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
OK but the fact that you're happy with 30 doesn't mean that there's no difference with 60, as Sunshine wrote before. Personally, I am happy with 48 fps and GSync. Maybe 60 are optimal for Reno races but I don't have it.
