  1. I have a perfectly smooth sim with these settings: NVCP: GSync on for full screen applications only; 3D settings: Default for everything (the VSync setting used is the one selected in the games) MSFS: VSync on, 100% monitor refresh rate, nVidia Reflex on With these settings I can cap the framerate down to 40 fps with Rivatuner and the sim is still impressively smooth, even during panning or steep turns. I keep the framerate capped at 48 to cover also helicopter and fighter jet rides and really, it's so smooth that I don't need any more fps and I prefer to have a quieter PC (the RTX 3090 gets noisy when it has to dissipate 350W). However I have a true GSync monitor (with the GSync chip), not a compatible one... so results may vary depending on your monitor.
  2. Well, the PC version of MSFS was the one featured in the videos posted in this thread. If Asobo focused on improving and updating that single version of the sim, by now we would have an absolute masterpiece.
  3. Of course yes, it's an XBox Game Studios title. The memory constraints of the Series S remain and I doubt we will have two or more separate branches of development: too expensive, and the next gen XBox is 4-5 years away. There will be improvements of the AI terrain processing and the main thread will be alleviated but I don't expect miracles. We already saw the horizon line bug in the trailer, I wouldn't be surprised if relief morphing and black lines in water are still there as well, at least in the first builds.
  4. The misunderstanding is that the higher the OSTPC setting is, the less it will stutter when panning. This setting was introduced after SU5 destroyed the LOD (and other things) to make the sim fit into the small memory of the XBox. Basically "low" makes it keep in the VRAM only the scenery in front of the POV! On my old 10850K, Ultra = no stuttering at all, Low = stuttering when panning. Considering your CPU, try OSTPC Ultra and Terrain LOD 100.
  5. Ultra is the setting to use in order to avoid stuttering when panning the view. I am surprised that low works best for you, what CPU do you have?
  6. It seems that the average frametime for both is about 16 ms. It means that in that particular condition, the two components can deliver the same framerate and neither one is bottlenecking the other. Considering that you are on the ground at a large airport, once airborne the framerate will increase and you will be GPU limited (desired condition). At 4K resolution you will benefit from a GPU upgrade for sure. Look at the RTX 4080 if budget allows or at the 4070 Ti: with their frame generation technology they do wonders in MSFS.
  7. I agree, so many missed approaches... As for the liveries, maybe MS needs permissions because their game is a commercial product, unlike the freeware liveries we can find online.
  8. MSFS runs better with HT on, especially with a quad core CPU. You have overheating issues, most probably the CPU thermal paste needs to be replaced.
  9. In the other forum you wrote that you are using FSLTL, Fenix's A320 and 3rd party KJFK. Which posts are we supposed to believe? 😞 https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/7800x3d-and-rtx-4090-performance-issues/596265/171?u=mrfuzzy1337 Fresh and clean install means the vanilla game, default aircraft and nothing in community folder or running in background. This has to be done not because you cannot use addons, but to isolate the issue and find possible solutions.
  10. No, that's a separate issue but I can get rid of it quickly by pressing the "cursor toggle" key twice. I have bound that command to "c". Since the AAU2 update the white box appeared to me only once, today in the A32NX. However the white box bug will be fixed by Asobo, the white dot I don't think so... it's a feature for those who have only the gamepad as input device.
  11. This tool fixes the white dot issue for those having an XBox controller connected: https://flightsim.to/file/50597/no-more-white-dot It's been around since February and incredibly has been downloaded only 650 times. I have been testing it for many hours and it works flawlessly. There's no dedicated thread on AVSIM and I thought about posting it. Enjoy!
  12. Start with the A320 Neo, it's the easiest of all. Follow the electronic checklist, watch YouTube tutorials (some are very good, made by actual A320 pilots). Stick to one airliner at a time and do short flights. In a few days you will be able to create and import a flight plan, start a flight from the parking (cold and dark), enter data in the MCDU, use the A/P and do LOC and ILS approaches and landings. Jets are not that difficult; they just seem overwhelming if you approach them without proper checklists and training. You cannot fly them like you would do a C172.
  13. This update has been good for me, it has even increased the performance. I used to get 33-34 fps on my personal CPU testing environment (EDDF25C runway w/A310 and live traffic @Ultra 3440x1440), now 39-40 fps and CPU load spread on 5 cores evenly (20-30%), with the 6th and main one at 75% only (previously 90%, and the others were not working evenly, between 10 and 30%). Two cores still work only when loading assets but that was expected. ORBX Dubai with the Bell 47: steady 60 fps (locked with totally flat frametime). Thanks Asobo! Look forward to MS2024 🙂
  14. It's not a converter, both versions of the A320 Neo will be available after the installation of FBW A32NX.
  15. FBW A32NX and Asobo's A320 Neo are two separate items since long time. You can download the FBW installer from here: https://flybywiresim.com/
  16. I keep it on 100% of the time, cities are much more realistic with PG on for me... I have a 600 Mbps fiber connection though. MS ideal recommendation is a 50 Mbps connection (which, of course, should also be stable and consistent). If your connection is slow or inconsistent, you may expect melted or badly morphing PG. Oh, and of course it would be impossible to have everything hand made...
  17. Yeah, aftermarket stuff does not pop in and morph... also true for aftermarket coastlines. LODs are most probably higher and more optimized than the default scenery. If you fly on default scenery you will see relief morphing and trees and buildings popping in, even airports disappearing and reappearing after 1-2 sec on approach. These are intrinsic limitations of the engine I think (after 3 years and many sim updates), hopefully we will see some of these issues resolved in FS2024 but I am not too optimistic on that.
  18. Seriously? What settings are you using? As far as I could see, since I upgraded to the 7800X3D I only get more fps at LOD 200 but LOD 400 still produces stuttering and pop in is still present at LOD 400 anyway.
  19. I use this profile for my 3090 with fps limited to 60 and in my opinion it's a good compromise in terms of noise/performance: https://imgur.com/a/s7y6lgz
  20. Yes of course, as long as I have the option to reduce the quality. I may also choose to play at 30 x 2 fps with frame generation (once I get a 4090) for example, without compromising on the quality. More choice = always better.
  21. It rather competes with XBox Series S usability. Whatever runs at 30 fps there, will run at 60 fps on a mid-range PC and 100+ fps on high end PCs. So please do not blame users for bad graphics because if Asobo wanted / were able to, they could do clouds like that image, add an Ultra+ option on the slider and everybody would be happy.
  22. This is more like Nissan VS Mercedes with Nissan being more expensive and fuel hungry.
