October 16, 200916 yr Justin will soon be releasing a new product for both FSX and 2004- North Atlantic Terrain Mesh for $14.95. As Justin says in the e-mail "Although we have faced some great challenges these past few months we are committed to working through these dire times and remaining a viable entity." i hope that this mabe a 1st step on the way to that.
October 16, 200916 yr Great news! I purchased the FSX mesh package a few months ago. FSGenesis stuff is always great. I've been a long time customer and it would be sad to see them go. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF

Can it get any better? What I really want it Europe and the rest of the world.

My business was also ravaged by the economic down-turn, and I felt the same challenges a few months ago.I decided to diversify and create new opportunities instead of watching things unravel further. It has worked this far....perhaps too well, as I've been working most evenings and weekends instead for 'flying'. But hey, I'll take that right now.Good luck to Justin, and I'll be checking out his new product without a doubt.
October 17, 200916 yr Well so much for laissez-faire! I'm afraid after I received an email practically begging for cash donations a while ago I decided not to buy any more of his products on principle. I am a very keen photographer and would love a Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 AF-S lens but I can't afford one. I thought about emailing FSGenesis asking for a donation to support my hobby but I think I would have recieved a similar response. But because my hobby doesn't pay the rent I have to go out and work for a living. It looks like he found enough sponsors to keep him going for another year or two but thankfully I have enough mesh now.
October 17, 200916 yr Moderator But because my hobby doesn't pay the rent I have to go out and work for a living. It looks like he found enough sponsors to keep him going for another year or two but thankfully I have enough mesh now. That's quite unfair. Justin's work is no more a hobby for him anymore than mine is for me. Do you suppose that everyone who -say- makes custom golf clubs for a living is just a hobbyist? Fr. October 17, 200916 yr Fr Bill, Your quite right of course, and I had promised myself that I would give this topic a miss, but I also received a couple of similar E-Mails, when all I want is the product I purchased over eighteen months ago, so I hope you can understand that some people are a little bit frustrated.Jim Hodkinson
October 17, 200916 yr That's quite unfair. Justin's work is no more a hobby for him anymore than mine is for me. Do you suppose that everyone who -say- makes custom golf clubs for a living is just a hobbyist? You miss my point which is that if a niche market custom Golf club manufacturer wasn't making any money from their business/hobby because they didn't have enough clients then you might expect them to close up shop and do something else for a living - not send out spam emails begging for money like a little girl.
October 17, 200916 yr The de Ferranti source data for high lat (above SRTM coverage) has been used by several devs. It probably is good to see a mainstream developer putting out a product using it for a large area coverage. Add to this the Aerosoft AntarcticaX project and most of the world should have decent mesh coverage. Maybe some holes in Siberia.scott s..
October 17, 200916 yr ...begging for money like a little girl? That's a weird analogy. I mean, you just don't see that being done very often...or do you? Never mind; I don't wanna know. It wasn't the...uniqueness?..of the retort that caught my attention. Just the blatant potshot attempt. You didn't like his request for help from the community before and you responded by choosing not to purchase any more of his products. A quiet resolution on your part. Nothing wrong with that. You've every right to your own opinion. But coming back after this amount of time has passed to make a couple blithering posts like this? You're a class act, pal... :( P.S. If I buy your lens for you, will you knock it off? Rick

To my knowledge, Justin has honored every obligation and hasn't charged for somehitng that he has not released.Personally, there is no other developer that produces the quality of work Justin does and if he needs a little help to keep going, so be it.VicYou miss my point which is that if a niche market custom Golf club manufacturer wasn't making any money from their business/hobby because they didn't have enough clients then you might expect them to close up shop and do something else for a living - not send out spam emails begging for money like a little girl. And I suppose you're equally pixxed off at Avsim for still being here? Such a shame, Tom having to go begging like a little girl. I guess he should have sucked it up and paid out of pocket or closed up shop?Avsim was worthy of saving and so is FSGenesis. As someone else said - you're a class act. :(Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
October 18, 200916 yr HiThe order was for the full DVD version of the FSX V2 mesh, to date I have had the USA DVD

And I didn't donate here either. Wouldn't dream of it. But it does at least provide a free service which can be very useful and amusing sometimes. FSGenesis is slightly different in that you have to buy the product, much like the Cheerios you had for breakfast this morning. I wonder how you would feel if General Mills sent you an email saying that they were having a hard time continuing to produce Cheerios as not enough little girls were purchasing them so could they please have a donation so that they could keep going. It's called capitalism Vic & Rick. You'd obviously prefer to live under a different system.
