A very interesting take on piracy...

I'd hate to be a pirate to tell you the truth... jumping around from release to release, never getting to know anything intimately... it's a sad existence really if you think about it...

You know
No, it wasn't a joke. Statement of fact on my part.I've spent many years correcting out-sourced software from India.
For once, I have to go with Ed on this oneMy wife copy-edits medical jornals (argh). Lately, to save money, publishers have either been going without copy-editing, or outsourcing to India. For a while , wife gets to double check their work. They are dreadful. But the publishers are still going to use them.I have had the misfortune to speak with many customer support people in India. Only one was any good. In fact he was outstanding. He solved my problem with a piece of network equipment that belonged to another company when the other companiy didn't have a clue.Bob

i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.

Typical American attitude... is there something that I'm missing that makes programming uniquely American, to the point that other countries/cultures can't keep up? How about us Canadians do we need to be supervised as well? What about the recent market crash in the U.S. given derivatives are spread worldwide, how come americans messed it up so bad? think about it....

Tell you what - you make a comment like that about any nationality, race, sex, creed or anything else here again, and you will be shown the door. That goes for everyone. Take that talk elsewhere.

I fail to see what's wrong there... so it's ok to bash India for outsourcing headaches? that goes unchallenged?

What part of "that goes for everyone" did not make sense to you?

Really because it seems that you only reacted after what I said.. though the slandering against Indians has been going on all day....

You are obviously clueless as to how this whole moderating thing works. I don't sit here in my office 24/7 watching the forums. If I don't see it, I can't do anything about it. I see it now, and I am doing something about it NOW. I'm not playing this game of back-and-forth with you. ALL language like is unacceptable in these forums, and it ends NOW! If that's not clear enough, it will be when the next person to do it is outta here.

I don't believe you and I don't think I have to.. I get scolded within 13 minutes. You know what the probability of that is given that this banter has been going on for the past 15 hours? Too busy I guess bashing Ariane? I'm out of here, so long as this forum is run by children.

Let me go ahead and give you a boost out the door - goodbye.P.S. If you call refering to the Ariane product as a quality, in-depth simulation as bashing, than I recommend getting a dictionary.

Hmmm...BionicCrab didn't express his frustation very well, especially with his US/Canada comments but I'm glad he brought up the 'Indian bashing' subject. The moderators are correct to nip this kind of thing in the bud no matter where it comes from or who it is directed at. I was starting to get very uncomfortable with it and wasn't far from making a comment myself. Perhaps I should have chimed in earlier and BionicCrab would still be with us. It's not just up to the moderators who by their own admission can't be on site every minute of the day. It's up to us on-line members to report it as well. In that respect I failed today despite being particularly disgusted at some of the comments. Bionic crab blew his top and paid the price. I would ask for two things1. Tempers obviously flared in a couple of short sharp exchanges. Allow BionicCrab back on the forum. He was right but said it wrong. He has contributed far more to this forum than I have.2. I contributed to this thread earlier on when it was actually talking about the OP's post. The thread seems to have moved all over the place since then. It's getting off topic, disjointed and difficult to follow from start to finish. I suggest we acknowledge Peter Clemenko for raising a topical issue and for the contributions thus far But, the thread has runs its useful course. I suggest it be locked. With all due respectTerry

No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea.

But if the publisher got the work done in the US for the same price then I suspect its quality could be even worse. As I said in a previous post I've worked wirh first-class people in India - I've also worked with incompetent people in the UK. Sweeping generalisations like these about countries are foolish - whether they're the US, the UK, India, or anywhere else.

Well, I wouldn't say all Indian programmers are bad. Such a negative sweeping generalizing is absurd and unfair as MGH rightly pointed out. In fact, I hired Indian programmers to create the 2010 Config Manager for FS2Crew.But I will say this because I speak from experience and because I live in Asia and I deal with non anglophones all the time: If you're outsourcing work, they may be cheaper at first glance based on a pure hourly rate. But you really also have to factor in communication and cross cultural issues. Those issues do come with a real cost more often than not.Now I can phone up an American, or British or Australian or Canadian programmer, and there's no language or cultural barrier really. We're all on the same page generally and communication is effortless, which helps smoothen things out.But when you're dealing with someone from a different culture and language, and you're dealing with a very technical subject, it can create a lot of extra complexities and costs that you may not have initially factored in. At the end of the day, that $15/hr programmer from the Ukraine might wind up costing in reality $30 an hour or more when you factor the extra complexities in.

Come on, Im sure there are a lot of not very interesting facts about yourself which you are just dying to tell us.Only one per post please...but feel free to post as many times as you like And please stay focused only on the actual facts, rather than getting lost in commenting someone elses fact; if you have to comment on someone elses fact then do so, but you must end with a fact about yourself or your message will be deleted.GG.
