any news about the wingflex?? i hope we will have the same flex like on the real aircraft and of course the real sounds....especially when taxing.. look here..

I love the "whoosh" sound of the engines being spooled up a little from idle. But I doubt it can be heard that well in the cockpit. I'm sure PMDG will want the sounds to be heard as if you were in the cockpit!Sam.

Actually, that is sort of true. Pilatus (the aircraft company) takes its name from the Pilatus Mountain, near Lucerne (that's the Mountain famously featured in the James Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service where a flight of Bell UH-1 Hueys attack it). Pilatus Mountain is so named because there is a local legend that Pontius Pilate was buried there.That legend might actually be true, based on some evidence of Pilate being sent to Gaul. Coming from Italy, there's a decent chance he was near there at least once or twice. The name Pilatus itself, supposedly relates to a skilled thrower of a Pilum (the Roman weighted military javelin designed to penetrate shields), which might be another reason why Pilatus chose the name for their company, as it is quite a good name for a potential military aircraft when you know that origin.Al

Well, as a big connoisseur of James Bond movies I have to correct this info. The mountain top revolving restaurant "Piz Gloria" which is the site of the main action in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (including the helicopter scene) is located on the mountain peak called Schilthorn near Murren, Switzerland. Pilatus mountain may have a similarly looking structure-building close to its peak built it is not the same place.

Correct, they even have a James Bond small cinema inside to show the film. The food isn't too bad either although the views are the best thing - not forgetting the cable car ride up there :(

I too love that sound, but from the flightdeck of a -300 at least, the sound was barely audible. Can't speak for the NG but I don't imagine the sound insulation would be any worse than in the classics.

Most of the noises on the flight decks in cruise (I know the 777 and Airbuses) are comming from the wind around the airframe and the flightdeck itself (instruments). The only place in the modern airplanes you can really hear the roar is in the cabin, the area behind the wing. I've never been in 737 cockpit but in my passenger experience I've noticed the engines are really quiet (e.g. the engine start almost goes unnoticed).On the other hand the 777 ER with Rolce Royce Trent engines has a very specific wining of the turbine during the engine start. In fact it is so loud that you can hear it 10-15 km from the airport on a quiet early morning. Inside the cabin the experience is... "interesting", with passengers looking around nervously :( I look forward for the PMDG 777 with greater anticipation...

On the other hand the 777 ER with Rolce Royce Trent engines has a very specific wining of the turbine during the engine start.

I noticed a similar thing on the Trent 900 powered A380, though they were probably starting 2 engines at once which would have added to the noise!
