C208B Grand Caravan on final

Featured Replies

It's not going to happen, that's why I only have 2 Carenado aircraft in my hangar, and one of those came free included with the other aircraft. Neither of them are installed.

Cheers, Andy.

I agree Carenado has issues with a lot of their releases and it should not be that way. Carenado should have knowledgable beta testers, but they don't. Im sure the Caravan will look great, right down to the last rivet, but may take JFK's longest runway to get it off the ground. :( In the end It will be fixed within a day or two after release, thanks to the community, Just like the Bonanza. Adding Reality XP gauges, (also with the help of the community) and I now have a great looking plane that flies as good as it looks. I have no doubt the Caravan will end up being one of my favorites too. (As soon as the community gets done posting flight model fixes) :( Rob

That´s why I might buy C208 but not right after the release. This time I will wait and see if it has bugs and will they be fixed.

I think Carenado makes the very best light a/c for fs. if you know any better tell me..... bugs are going to happen. but they will get fixed. at least ya got something to play around with while your waiting right? and then you get to come here and Bi**h :) it all works out! That's just it though many bugs don't get fixed by Carenado especially the silly little irritating bugs that take next to no time to fix, that's why I only have two aircraft from them and I bought those several years ago for FSX when they had a sale on at Carenado. It's actually excellent that we have this Carenado forum here now as it's easy for me and everyone else to see that Carenado haven't changed their ways at all really, it saves me a fortune in time, frustration and money. I really do hope they change their ways with this aircraft though.

Cheers, Andy.

Cessna 208 Bravo, cleared for takeoff on Sunday! ;-)

LOL, I guess that everyone has their own experiences with companies. Carenado has been by FAR the best purchase experience I ever had. Which means that either Carenado is superb in their add-on functionality and quality, OR, That I have dealt with some really crappy companies in the past. After reading the "counter-rants" I'm beginning to think that the second is true...

What is worse is that they have no response to this...Any other developer would have addressed the issues raised here in an instant. It certainly can't look good to potential customers coming on here and reading all of these unanswered complaints. I don't understand it. What is the point of a support forum if no one responds? :(

Harry, it isn't about there being bugs. It is about them being the SAME bugs every single release- either the same general types of errors and sometimes the same exact errors from code carried over from addon to addon. I have contacted them via email and PM MANY times asking to beta test their products. If I was one of their testers (I've got plenty of experience from other companies), I would not allow any plane to be released with such bugs. A flight model being completely and horribly wrong isn't a "bug". It is a glaring error that somehow got past a perhaps non-existent (or may as well be) beta team. I spent hours fixing Carenado's Bonanza flight model so myself and others could enjoy the aircraft while they spent weeks fixing it. I'm not just coming here and "Bi**h"ing.

All this bellyaching is making me want to defend Carenado a little. There seems to be a bit of piling-on here about all the things we think are wrong with them. Would any of us care how their planes flew if they weren't so damn good-looking? Because let's face it, Carenado produces some of the best models and textures around. Yes, there are frequently problems with the flight dynamics, and clearly they have some deficiency of expertise in that area. But credit where it's due, they've got a track record of getting things sorted out with the help of the community. No, they don't participate on these forums as often I think they should, but they're far from unresponsive. And in case anyone hasn't noticed, they're one of the most prolific teams in aircraft creation to boot, turning out multiple aircraft every year, and for a good price. Are they perfect? No, of course not. But for my money, they're very good at what they do and they're showing signs of improving with every release. That's enough to keep me coming back every time.Looking forward to the C208!

Well said Bill. I fully agree. For the money we all spend on these planes, I feel we are getting our money's worth for sure. And as for issues with the planes, they will eventually get ironed out!And just as I was typing this, look what Fernando just posted about the F33...

This package:- Corrects the DME display when the distnace to the VOR is more than 99 miles.- Solves an issue related to turning on and off ADF1 and ADF2.- Improves some clickeable areas of the GNS430.- Solves an issue in the GNS430 related to a misplaced red line of flight plans.- Solves an issue with the Flight Plan Display letters. - Improves the flight dynamics.- Adds two NAV/ADF switches to the RMI. Now RMI is working right.- Changes some difficult to read textures and corrects some misspellings.- Replaces some panel textures to make letters readable. - Reduces the drag effect on flaps.- Fixes the flaps knob positions.- Adjusts flight dynamics (specially: roll and pitch effects and takeoff run distance).- Adjusts attitude indicator in the VC.- Illuminates one of the fuel flow screen.- Adjusts the rear navigation light.Known issues:- Problem withe the fuel selector related to a FSX bug. Many of the above issues were corrected previously in the SP1 and SP2. You can install this SP over the others without any problem. If you prefer, just download again the package from the link you got after your purchase.Click here to go to the page:Carenado

LOL.I can't wait to buy this plane. I love the caravan and was excited to see Carenado developing it. I am also so glad to think it will be out soon (I am still waiting for a plane from another developer that is over 2 years late :-(Hopefully, we will see it soon. ;-)

Bill, that was well said.As a beta tester with a degree of experience in and out of the flight simulator community, I'm not sure I agree with the idea that beta testers can prevent a developer from going to market with a flawed product. I will do my level best to point out the problems in a piece of software, and behind the scenes, discussions can get a little "energetic" from time to time, but at the end of the day, the developer has the final decision. Carenado's business model seems to be to put together their best work and trust that the community will point out the short-comings of their products immediately after release. They've been very successful with this, because they get input from those who are most passionate about each particular airplane -- look at the post-release arc of the C185, which is an astonishing offering. These guys do good work...it isn't perfect, but it's very good indeed, and fills a niche that would otherwise be glaringly empty.I'm looking forward to the release of the C208.
