PMDG 737 NGX: PMDG's attitude toward realism

Featured Replies

About the engine spool up times, I haven't seen other developers bothering to get it right. Theirs fire up in 3 seconds and go to max thrust for a brief moment.PMDG MD11 was very nicely simulated in terms of engines power up, however I have the feeling that the J41 engines do not spool up exactly as they should (I'm just guessing here). Anyway, if you go outside the FSX envelope nothing is impossible. That's what RSR and team are doing..

And I do believe the GEnx's on the 748 are of a lower thrust rating than those found on the 787.
I believe the GEnxs are also slightly smaller on the 747, so that may further contribute to your point (on top of your connection between air diverted to the bleeds yields less thrust). As far as the JS41 start comment goes. Here's a video of a start to compare:

Whoa! A powerback with a Turbo Prop; and turning as well. That's just asking for trouble! Nice vid though.

"The aircraft G-limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular airplane. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no G-limits."

Hey guys when the NGX comes out I'm gonna dust it like this guy. 0:20-0:41.

:(
For those who want to learn more, this flight was from SBSL to SBKP. I didn´t know that these 707 were still flying here in Brazil. I was even surprised when I saw the "PT-" registry mark on the fuselage.

Where and when are the start locks?? When exactly should I be looking for?

Man PMDG got the sounds spot on for the Jetstream 4100 startup. And the start locks are released when the engines are put in reverse. Nothing to really look for, but rather listen for.

Geez, Capt. Randazzo and Team - stunning work! This insane realism and attention to detail is indeed what sets y'll apart. For example, I'm STILL discovering little things in PMDG aircraft after many hundreds of hours flying them. Case in point: I was reading a excerpt from an actual MD-11 Manual that was discussing, and illustrating, the smoke/fire-detector test and how this is depicted on the display. The manual showed little yellow upside-down 'triangles' marking where the sensors were located in the various cargo spaces of the Freighter, in this case, when the AIR EICAS page was pulled up. I hadn't noticed those triangles before in the Sim, so I fired PMDG MD-11 up, brought up the proper screen and watched it closely as I ran the smoke-fire alarm and sensor test. Lo and behold, there they were - the little yellow triangles right where they were supposed to be!! Just a small eaxample of the 'depth of realism' that makes your products far and way the Gold Standard of FSX addons. Please release the 737NGX soon so I can purchase and download!Best regards,SK8TRBOI747Incredibly Loyal Customer

That made me just want to jump in the sim and fly..Much like when you go on a holiday and you are at the airport coming home and all you can think about is getting home and pretending you were the one up at the pointy end.dam that vid made me want the NGX bad tho.. that vid will be at more views than justin whats her face by the time im done with it :Dthanks for sharing.
Aussie, I couldn't agree more. What an outstanding video clip! It is exactly the kind I wish I could find more of on YouTube or elsewhere - nearly HD quality of video of the instrument panel up-close, slowly panning, illustrating different 'screens', showing some simple button pushes and what they do...all while the airplane is in flight. Excellent, excellent, excellent!I know I have the 'sickness' when I could literally watch this kind of video for hours. Please, to all nice, sim-friendly, line pilots: please make some of these short (or long!) videos on whatever type you fly...all would be welcome by us sim/airline/pilot fanatics, whether a 747-200F or a new 777-200LR. Please. I'm begging. Thanks again for the vid and post!SK8TRBOI747

Hi,Just wondering if the NGX will have full integration with FSPassengersX, in terms of fuel loading, ZFW, failures, etc.? I greatly enjoy the extra dimension that FSP adds to the FSX experience!CheersRob Bowers

All you need for that is to go to the FSPax website and download the appropriate profile for the addon aircraft you are using.I personally dont recommend using FSPax's weight and balance, as it greatly simplifies CG. I use FSPax with the w&b off, use the PAX count it give me before the flight, I quit out of the flight, then load the plane as appropriate using either TOPCAT (for the Level D 767, PMDGs 747), or the addons load manager, and load fuel via TOPCAT or in PMDGs case, the PMDG fuel loader. I get fuel load from vroute.

WOW, never realised how realistic PMDG managed to recreate the JS4100 start-up sounds! Just imagine what the NGX will sound like when she starts up! :D
