October 9, 201015 yr Upon reading AVSIMS updated copyright requirements, I don't think I should upload these doc's,even tho I have edited any company info from each page. October 9, 201015 yr Hey guys when the NGX comes out I'm gonna dust it like this guy. 0:20-0:41. :( Alexander Brinson
October 9, 201015 yr Commercial Member As far as the engine comments go, the GenX on the 747-8 uses bleeds, the 787's version does not.Kyle Kyle Rodgers
October 9, 201015 yr Author Commercial Member Alex-Thats my kind of pilot. :( Congrats- that is officially the coolest video yet posted in this forum. (i'm a HUGE 707 lover...)Anyone notice how the FO guards the gear-in-transit lights with his hand to keep the glare from annoying the flying pilot?Very cool... Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
October 9, 201015 yr I've loved flight sims for many years. For a while there I was wondering if this genre was going to survive. After flying PMDG planes and especially after reading this post I see that flight simming is not only alive, it's growing by leaps and bounds.Thank you. Sincerely.:(
October 9, 201015 yr As far as the engine comments go, the GenX on the 747-8 uses bleeds, the 787's version does not.KyleAnd I do believe the GEnx's on the 748 are of a lower thrust rating than those found on the 787.On a similar note, does anyone know if the Trent 1000s are also bleed-airless? I do believe that the 787 is still suppoed to be able to have the engine types swapped out, so I assumed the Trent 1000s would have to have similar bleed-airless qualities, but havent found a confirmation on that. October 9, 201015 yr Hey Guys,Just wanted to tip my hat to Alex. That was an awsome vid!!! ... And yes RSR, I did notice that. I think that it was very considerate of him to do that. I probably would not have thought to do that, but none the less, very smart especially at night. On a different note, I got laid off today from my job as an IT Tech & Systems Administrator. Obviously I'm rather bummed. :( But....A great PMDG NG simulation sure would cheer me up!!! ;) That is if I can afford it now that I have no job. Only time will tell. But anyway, thanks PMDG for always raising the bar in simulation! Can't wait for the NGX.Cheers!-Ethan Rayhorn Ethan Rayhorn My Office: (Taken at FL410)
October 9, 201015 yr No, they're running the Terrain. Honestly, I thought the Range Arcs appeared whenever your ND was using the MAP display. I'm starting to wonder now if it's a product of the WXR and TERR database. On American Airlines 737s there are never range rings on the MAP. Not with TCAS, weather radar or terrain. You can seen in the picture I've selected terrain and TCAS. The terrain in the other picture is the type that is on the newer 737s. The first 77 that we got do not display the terrain altitudes or any terrain if you are not close to it. All the newer ones have the terrain like the picture above the one I posted. Tom Landry

It's interesting to hear the terrain viewing range changes between your older and newer 77's. Usually EGPWS/TAWS systems don't change at all. (Since the GPWS is copyrighted by Allied Signal/Honeywell)I only have experience on the C172, the Seminole, and slightly less than a hundred hours on the A320 Family Level-7 Sim, but on our Cessna 172 G1000's we can actually zoom out a thousand + miles and get terrain colors on the MFD at altitude, since it is just a database for a terrain awareness warning system. I wonder if the discrepancy between these 737NG's are all just company options, rather than an actual update in systems. Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune. There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.
October 9, 201015 yr Hm... that Skymaster video would make me go back to my 707 Captain simulation... Shame there is noone to cover the lights for me though.I can't help but wonder what is the news about the so much anticipated NGX?.. This post is growing old with 23 pages now, shall we see a new one in the coming days? Some more details about the systems perhaps?Would it be coming too strong asking for an early video of the product? Regards, Martin Martinov / VATSIM 1207931
October 9, 201015 yr Anyone notice how the FO guards the gear-in-transit lights with his hand to keep the glare from annoying the flying pilot?Very cool...Yeah. Also I believe I have not seen one put it to OFF right after the lights went off. Nice move. :(
October 9, 201015 yr Commercial Member A Question to Vin/Ryan,How accuratly have you managed to get the correct timings/spooling of the engine starts? For the MD11 especcially it was pure perfection. We all know FSX has a limitation where the engines take a coule of seconds to spool and then will ~"surge" to unrealistic n1/n3s.Could you even give us a spoiler and tell us how long each engine takes to spool up in real life/ your productAlex :) Alex Ridge Join Fswakevortex here!
