So how does the PMDG 737NGX compare to...

I thought to inject a bit of a comedy here. Found it today on another forum and the words written below actually come from a certified professional:(By 'PMDG cockpit' he means the 737NG-FSX)

just so you understand A PMDG cockpit does not come close to the complexity of rendiering the Mustang VC you can't even begin to compare the two in how each are rendered..

Hey guys, can we please discuss the PMDG NGX in this forum and not other products? I´m not trying to act like a forum moderator, but I find it frustrating to log in to this forum to read about the development and thoughts about the forthcoming NGX and have to scroll through several posts about Wilco products...

I hate to enlighten you but the only people who are going to be giving any info....well useful info on the 737 NGX is the PMDG team themselves. Even if you did log on to find everyone and their mom talking about the NGX, what would you expect to see, find, hear if everyone who is/was posting isn't affiliated with PMDG? I would wager the answer to be......nothing useful. Useful meaning, news you would want to hear such as, a release date or info on the product.

FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠

I'm not here day after day just looking for a release date or just to read news from the PMDG guys. Shure I am looking forward to the release as everyone else but I also find it interesting to read about other People's experience and knowledge about the 737 NG. Its about learning. The NGX Will be released when Its ready, no doubt about that, but I am not interested in reading reviews about other products in this forum.

I don't think the "professional" in question is aware that the two people who made the Mustang both work for PMDG now - they were the lead developers on the J41 (and now Dash 8) and are also working on elements of the NGX right now. Aside from that point, I have no idea what he's talking about - the Mustang does not have functional VNAV, hugely complicated fuel, hydraulic and pneumatic systems with their associated dependencies, failure simulation, or a whole host of things our airliners do. It's a great G1000 simulation (the best there is in FS), but to say it's more complicated or better models its real world counterpart than our airliners do is pretty ridiculous.

I cannot wait to see the video showcasing the HUD in the NGX, this is something to write home home about, PLEASE PMDG, don't torture us anymore this is getting unbearable (Just kidding), but I am checking this place 2 to 3 times a day lol.

Ryan,By now they had removed the offending comments. But from the context of the whole thread what this 'professional' had clearly in mind was the graphical quality of the VC, not the systems simulation.

oooooh... MJ you rabble rouser. :( Most of us routinely scroll through forums hosted by other developers- and you know: One of the decisions that we made here many many years ago that continues to bring dividends- is that we do not criticize other developers or their products here in this forum.Lets face it: Anybody who invests the kind of time and skill required to make a nice simulation add-on does so because they want to see the community benefit from their work. With this in mind, you will frequently see PMDG members compliment other developers. It is pretty common to see posts from me about other products that I particularly like (Captain Sim's 707 for example- we discussed that one just this week!) and the end result is that we encourage all of you to support PMDG **and** other developers. But when I scroll around to other locations and see some of the really whacky crap the some developers write about one another, or write about us- it just makes me cringe. Whether it is insulting a product, or making claims for which someone is completely unqualified to answer (as in the case quoted above)...You have to be pretty unhappy as a human being- and exceedingly insecure in the quality of your development work to start throwing stones at other developers. But then again- we've always been a relatively happy lot here. We make the airplanes that WE enjoy flying- and we make them to a quality level that satisfies us... You guys make it that much more fun to invest the effort.

Heino-We are okay with some discussion of other products here. Obviously we wouldn't tolerate someone marketing on behalf of other developers, and we strongly prefer that other developers not post here (with a few notable exceptions for folks that are friends and partner developers, like Bryan York, Chris Palmer, the guys from LDS, etc...) we don't outright deny them access.I appreciate your experience wading through threads- but it doesn't happen that often...

I think its fair comment to discuss other products, as long as its constructive i think,I think the discussion will turn to bryan yorks "Voice Series" after the NGX, and that excites me greatly.. We also may compare the wilco 737, becuase what FS9 users need to remember is,, thats the only affordable 737 that is on the whole FSX platform, and they did a good job at the time! Its getting close to the stage, where in terms of aircraft making, there are only 2 or 3 quality developers, i greatly look forward to flying the ngx this year when ever that will be, and i even more so look forward to the 777, Best regards

Then something else popped up in my mind. For the elevator trim I would like to use an axis instead of buttons. That works far more accurate. But, in the 747 it doesn't work since it messes up the autopilot. Is it possible to implement some "autopilot trim-axis override" function? And the second question, if you implement this, can you make something to show where the trim-axis is, so that you can line it up with the current ac/ap setting, before disengagement of the autopilot?Dion Mollert

I could be ranted at and abused for bringing this up but I have a issue I feel nearly everyone has. In FSX Autogen literally pops into view like a mile (or 2) away taking away the experience to the point I don't use it. May I ask if people from PMDG have this problem or better have a fix.I ask because I feel this problem is very substanital if most the FSX popultion have this. Cheers.

Mr. rsrandazzo!!!!!Dont't worry.I have been a pilot myself, and know a little about aircrafts.I have also tried a lot of aircrafts from several developers to get the ultimate experience.I have my favourite: PMDG!!!!Yes, there is always things who could be better, but lets face it: This is software and not a real plane, but I feel that your airplane are the most realistic, and this is the reason I always buy your products without doupht!!Keep up the good work :-)Could you possible make a "notify list" so the interested one could get an email the same day your product realese?Jarle Brønstad

Come on man, give us a break. Updates are few and far in between, so if at times we get side tracked and start to talk about something else who is getting hurt here. And we were still talking about Flight Sim, not like we went off the deep end.
