How does GPS landing work? Is it specific airports that supports it or is all supporting it? does FSX work with it or? I'm a bit confused.
Its like any other approach. Some airports have it while some don't. Some of the approaches also have WAAS capabilities which provide lower minimums along with a glideslope to follow down. Go to www.airnav.com and type in any airport and look at the instrument approach charts for any RNAV approach. RNAV approaches are considered GPS approaches.

And to add to the above about GPS approaches, most airliners these days are not really equipped to fly them, specially the newest GPS-WAAS approaches. Airlines don't like the additional expense of certifying the hardware plus huge expense of crew training. They usually fly to larger airports well equipped with ILS so they would gain little by adopting GPS approaches. And those among them that really fly to difficult and remote airports (say Alaska Airlines) would rather have a special approaches designed just for them - so called RNP approaches which are really creme-de-la-creme of approaches these days (some RNP approaches are published and you can find them through airnav.com).

Do you know of a similar site for Europe?Just back to the thread...as a MD11 disciple.....my only niggle is the stick and throttle "jitters"! Has this been damped in the 737NGX?
I do not know about another site for europe....if you find one let me know...I am on the hunt as well.

If you want to try out a bunch of different approach's, you might want to check out the airport at Boise, Idaho (KBOI). It is both a civilian and military airport with high terrain North and East of the airport. It just got CATIIIb and a new tower. Go to airnav.com for more info.

BTW 1200 lines of code for the spoiler system? Could you explain what logic is behind it? Or give us a teaser of one of your tecnical behind the scenes type of programming bits that would otherwise go unnoticed?

Tamati-Occasionally Dr. Vaos and I will find ourselves spending an entire day researching/discussion/seeking technical input on some micro-detail that will likely go completely unnoticed in the sim. At the end of the day we take comfort in the fact that at least TWO people will know it was done correctly. (That would be Dr. Vaos and me- for those who weren't paying attention. :( )Ryan has been imploring me to keep a list of these little details so that we can show them to you at different times in order to demonstrate the depth of simulation in the airplane.This might be one of those times when we actually listen to him. :(
Now I have a question... If we are going to have so deep sys implementation with this aircraft, what the difference will be in between PMDG 737 and the software the airliners use to train real world pilots? Is it the same or we will be still missing something?Thank you for the great work guys.

I know RPRIEVER. Probably a lot more than 50 (maybe a few hundred). I am more interested to see what Robert was talking about with Ryan saying they need to document these quirks and release them bit by bit. Maybe even have a 737 "Quirk of the week" type thing. Granted that would take the fun out of having them sneak up on us, but I think RSR is right about many of these details going unnoticed by most. I know I still haven't come close to even seeing everything on the aircraft I already have, and this one sounds far more complex.
