December 22, 201015 yr I don't expect to get the the 707 for 9.99...from what I've heard it's a superb aircraft. However, I can always buy it for sticker price. If CS wants to give me an excuse to to buy it now then $10 off would have done it. Play the game. Now I'll wait to see what PMDG, or someone else, may have to offer.
December 22, 201015 yr The CS 707 is already discounted, it used to be 59.95 Euros, but for quite a while it has been reduced to 39.99.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

December 22, 201015 yr They've sold it for 60 Euros at the beginning, so the reduction is real. I have to look up the rough dates of the first -10 offers but it took quite some time.I know what you are talking about. Fresh product with instant "discount" to make it look like a big deal. As far as I know, CS is not one of those tricky devs.

Make the customer think he's getting a good deal. These 9.99 sales though are no gimmick, these are real saving compared to other offerings from other developers. CS has made the determination that what they lose in price, they'll make up in volume. That only works the first few times though, as the pool of potential customers get smaller since they already took advantage of the previous sales. So I wouldn't expect these to continue, unless there is a new pool of products to sell. The 707 and B-52 is a good start, but probably not enough to make up the difference, that's probably why they are not included in this sale! Hell, $20 would still be a great deal.As for the rest, I think they are pretty smart to run these sales and I don't think they lose one cent from a sale like this. Look what the result it; they make some cash (they're about to get mine), and people are talking about their products on the forums and for the most part all the talk is positive. You can't buy that kind of publicity and CS gets it for free. Also, every new customer they get from a sale like this is a potential/probable repeat customer. The guy buys the plane on sale, gets on the CS forums for info and chatter, starts to get interested in other planes people are talking about on the site and then starts taking part in converstaions and asking questions about other planes and sure enough a few months down the road he buys another product at full price. And his introduction to all this was a sale that leaves the customer with the initial impression that "Captain Sim did something nice for me." It's a win-win situation. I think more add-on developers should have sales like this. ___________________________I'm just flying for the fun of it.
December 22, 201015 yr I'm currently in the process of producing a review of the CS 707 for Avsim, so I've been looking at it in a lot of detail. It is a fairly complex bird, with simulations of doppler drift detection, CIVA INS navigation, plus it has a weather radar not to mention pretty much a fully functioning VC, including the FE's panel. With all that in mind, I think it is entirely understandable that CS don't want to bang it out for a pittance just yet, frankly, the standard price is pretty reasonable considering the level of detail it has.AlAl, I'm with you on this. Really love my 707 and do not regret I paid full price. For those who do not have CS products and hesitate the sale is really good chance to to swallow a gudgeon LOL Regards,Stan

Possibly both.
December 23, 201015 yr Well, that 707 for 24.99 Euros is a no brainer. I paid full price for it and still thought it was a bargain. Like the CS 727, it's not perfect, but it comes pretty close and is bloody good for the money, although keep in mind that you will have to download the CIVA INS (if you don't have it) to add that functionality to its VC, the manual has a link to the download and explains how to enable it (which is easy to do and only takes a minute). It certainly does feel like a big aircraft when you haul it about the sky and there are some fab paint jobs that come with it too. Just make sure you have a lot of runway in front of you, it's not like a 720 or 727, it needs serious amount of tarmac!Personally I'm hoping they'll get around to doing a 720 variant as an expansion (so I can fly one from airfields with smaller runways), I'd really like to see one of those for FSX since it was the first 707 variant I ever flew on and so it was also the version which really made me fall in love with the 707 when I was a kid. I used to like flying on Dan Air's old DH Comets and stuff like that, but the first time I ever saw a 707 roll up to the terminal at Girona with that big spiky antenna sat on the top of the tailfin and its deafeningly loud turbojets, you could tell it was the aeroplane of future, frankly, it looked like a spaceship compared to the propliners that were parked nearby LOL, and it's certainly stood the test of time as a design given that the 757 shares its fuselage cross section and the 737 has basically the same nose and cockpit shape.Anyway, at that price it'll be well worth having for FSX as it is almost certainly Captain Sim's best product thus far.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

I'm in! Having already gotten the 727 a while back, I figured that was all the smoky old airliner I needed. But for the price, the 707 will be hard to resist.
