KSFO from Flightbeam Released!

Bought it, installed it and activated it. Didn't try it yet though.EDIT: Tried it now. it's indeed a very good-looking addon, but I can't say the performance is as spectacular as some claim. With GEX, REX, 71% AI (482 WoAI packages) and settings rlatively high, with BlueSkyScenery installed and weather on gray and rainy with the Leonardo Maddog, I get between 14 and 18 FPS. That's what I normally get at many addon airports. I should try it with other addons also, though, see what that gives me. The Maddog is rather hard on the FPS. I figure the Aerosoft Airbus will return much better FPS.
Indeed, the Maddog is a heavy hitter on the FPS. I haven't had any appreciable amount of time off work to make a flight yet. However, I parked the Maddog at a gate (cold and dark) to see what performance was like. I was getting about 19-21 FPS in the VC, actually about 2-3 FPS less than at other major add-on airports. This FPS will likely drop a bit more once I power on the systems and start FS2Crew, so right in the ball park you're talking about. I then switched to the PMDG MD-11 and was 32-34 FPS in the VC (with all systems up). Really quite a difference! While I normally see lower FPS in the Maddog, the difference isn't usually quite this dramatic. I'm running GEX, REX and Ultimate Traffic 2 at 95%/15% (Commercial/GA).It just goes to show how very much we need a new, mostly native, FSX short haul jet. Both iFly and PMDG should be coming around with their NG's (the former likely first from the looks of it) that should fit the bill nicely. Unfortunately, all of our other short haul birds are a mix of the good and the bad (i.e. Airbus X excellent visual, light systems, poor flight dynamics).

A jarring note is that they have spelled "QANTAS" as "QUANTAS in the gates assignment!!! When are people are going to learn that QANTAS is an acronym - Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services. It started in outback Queensland in 1920.Bruceb

I finally got a chance to fly around yesterday and am really impressed with their first effort. Even on my older rig I was able to maintain around a sold 25 to 30 FPS with 100% UT2 AI and a variety of weather which is pretty good for an airport of that size and complexity.Aside from a few small issues with black boxes under some of the lights when the user landing lights shine on them, which I already reported, the airport works and looks great. All I have done is add some more mip maps to some of the light maps that seemed a little shimmery at night, but once I did that the airport is solid in the evening.Great work Flightbeam!!!

It's not perfect, but it can be a classic if updates are released for it. The sooner the better. The most important thing to me is how well it looks and performs. I switched from default to the demo upgrade and FPS are much higher with Flightbeam version.Very impressive!

Congrats to FlightBeam.  Looks like this is their first offering out of the hangar.  Here's to their success as you can never have too many quality builders out there.
Yes you can have too many ... at the point were there is to many, none of them of them can make the money they need to make.  Probably about 3 or 4 quality develops per market focus area, is the max you would want for competitive pricing and longevity of the developers.

A note to add is that there's quite a bit of cooperation between us developers. Flytampa's Martin and I exchange emails often, and I work with Umberto from FSDT since we also use the addon manager. We also manage to not step on each others toes, quite different from the corporate zoo outside of the sim world :)Also, I'm posting a sizeable update tomorrow which fixes the runway issue amongst many other things.

performance was about the same for me as with default, but it sure looks much nicer. glad to see the little details like the bart tunnels and lights that extend out into the water.note to the devs..your estore site didn't work with paypal on chrome browser, gets stuck trying to pop the window.. IE worked fine.cheers-andy crosby

Can you install the demo and then uninstall it without issue?

I'm having an issue when flying into KSFO, the ground textures are torn looking with default runways underneath. Tried different mesh resolutions with no result, if I start at KSFO everything loads fine. I also crashed into an invisible barrier while crossing the threshold of runway 28R at 100' AGL, I think the two issues are related. Has this been addressed in the update? Great scenery by the way, I've flown in and out of there a lot, grew up there, and it looks spot on, performance is awesome too.

Could you tell me what addons you have installed, and send a screenshot to [email protected]'ve had only a couple other customers have the same issue as you, and trying to pinpoint what's causing it. Also make sure ksfo is at the top of your scenery library

That's not a problem. I'll send some screenshots.addons:REXFSGlobal 2008 (disabled in North America because FSX default is higher resolution.)My traffic X 5.3 (already removed the AFCAD for KSFO) Scenery Tech Land ClassImaginesimKATLKCVGKCLTKIADKSJCFly TampaKTPAKBOSST. Thanks for an excellent rendition of KSFO.

I don't see why not. I also don't see why you would want to. It's one of the best payware airports out there. IMHO.

This scenery looks very promising and I can't wait to see what else this new company develops, KOMA? Anyway, congrats on the release! I may buy this after it's patched and with a Christmas discount :)

My impressions of KSFO are positive. The scenery is very detailed and generally produces good frame rates. I am thrilled to have a detailed hub on the west coast which will serve me well with respects to trans-pac ops. Welcome to the scene Flightbeam. I look forward to your future releases.
