Level-D such a shame

Featured Replies

I checked for an answer at my VA forum for Level D bouncing issues and it was suggested that the reader go to the Level D forum, go figure! Just to make sure, you did install the 767X in correct order and with admin rights, correct? Just to make sure check the Level D 767 Backgrounder.I read a couple of pages of the post you provided but did not have time to read through it all. Issues sometimes arise due to an outdated FSUIPC module or incomplete navdata. Terry Yingling of PlanePath provided a free navdata update for the LDS 767X if you do not have access to regular updates at navdata.atI was surprised to read that people are experiencing AC bouncing due to FMC input's being added in the wrong order, I think I have added the info in many different orders, due in large part to the engine start and FMC data dump issues. Hope you get to the bottom of the issue and it is resolved sooner than later, I have a great deal of respect for Level D and love their 767, it's a shame you cannot enjoy it at the moment.

Q1: When you start the sim, does the main window open up or do you go straight into the sim?Q2: What is the aircraft that loads for your default aircraft, in which status is it when you just load the flight without changing anything (or the flight loads itself without main window)?

The only thing that bugs me about the LDS is you can't use the fmc in the vc, it has to be a 2d panel.
That is my number one pet peeve of the LDS, ever since I started flying the PMDG birds (or basically any other addon a/c in FSX), the absence of the FMC functionality in the VC (apart from pulling up the 2d panel, which is another task to handle while simultaneously trying to control the a/c) is glaringly obvious. I love the systems depth and flight model, and the flexibility to fly short hauls in addition to long hauls, but for this one issue alone I cannot bring myself to return to flying the LDS, its a game stopper for me after so many flights with the PMDG MD-11 and 747. I'm surprised more people don't complain about the 2d FMS panel, I guess they have the FMS docked on a separate monitor or a touchscreen device like the Ipad. There are addon a/c just as old or older that have a working VC FMS, it's a real shame that the folks couldn't enable a VC FMC when they released this for FSX. I really would love to fly it again, especially since I'm beginning to tire of the long hauls I fly with the PMDG 747, but thankfully the NGX will give me my short-medium haul fix very soon! :biggrin:I really was in love with this bird last year, I had racked up hundreds of hours flying the LDS exclusively for the first 5 months of 2010 (as evidenced by my screename!) , but once I experienced the full featured, no compromise VCs of the PMDG heavies, I am afraid to say she is now in the virtual graveyard.I understand the VC is the way it is because of the age of the product, and I can look past the the lack of 3d buttons/switches in the cockpit and the flat boring sounds (I use 3rd party engine/cockpit sounds which are a major improvement), but I cannot believe they couldn't at least give us a VC FMS when developing the FSX edition.

I never understood this either, especially since it was possible to do it with the current gauge. I did it with my CS757/LDS panel merge with the old CS757 Block B model.Check out Video

UPDATE 2 !!!I found the solution by myself for the bounching issue,The FSX Level-D configuration manager is making the error. Setting on empty and do the loads by yourself is solving the bounching problem.I came to it after reading some replies in this topic that some have no problem at all but using external programs like FSBuild. Still a bit of shame that Level-D support closed that topic in 2009 without any clue or a pinned answer/solution for something that is so simple but killing the experience.Remains the problem with half filled SIDs & STARS data. It has nothing to do with Navigraph because it also occurs with the old 2007 version that is standard in the FMC after installing the plane. Installing AIRAC 1104 didn't solve it. I think it must been a XML reading/importing problem but don't know how to solve. There is another annoying bug together with VATSIM Weather. Performance is very poor, max FL250 with a TAT of +45 at FL250 with a max IAS of 240 Kts (?/!) Flying most of the time on VATSIM and REX using VATSIM Weather makes it annoying. The problems with double starting engines and flushing FMC data complete is solved with the Beta gauge file.Never had any problem with the FS9 version but the struggle in FSX is changing my mindset completly because the FSX version is already 4 years on the market.

TAT of +45 at FL250? What was the SAT?

Glad to read that you solved the bouncing issue, with regard to the TAT are you using FSInn? There is a known issue that is resolved by selecting "disable all weater" in FSInn setup or press the CAVOK button on the UI and using either FSX, REx or ACtiveSky, you will see a normal reading at altitude. I've read the temps drop by approx. 2°c per 1000 feet. Now all that remains is the SID/STAR issue, the only thing I would suggest is to have a look in the Level D\Navdata folder located in FSX, there should be a number of .xml files. If that is empty then the navdata is not being installed in the right location. You wrote that you are using a new SB, I'm assuming Sandy Bridge, does that mean you are using Win7 now as well? There are issues if you do not install FSX in its own directory I'm afraid. I would suggest that you post your system data in your sig, it makes helping people a lot easier when they take the time to provide the info. That's about all the info I can provide, it's amazing what you can find if you search the net. I am feeling a little uncomfortable about providing help with the Level D 767 outside their forum so I am going to end it here. Good luck.

Hi Paul, nice to see you around, how are things?

When loading the FMC data, are you entering SID/STAR info BEFORE you load the route data? I did have the bounce issue and found that the ROUTE data needs to be loaded then the departure/arrival info. Try that and see if it helps out.Jim
I will give that tip a try tonight. I'll keep it posted...Discussion is going further on Level-D forumJim, THX... I tried it and seems to be the solution and workaround I can live with....

That's where it belongs of course. Hoping that you can enjoy your FSX version soon as this would be a nice outcome of the somehow (first impression) rant-like thread. No offence intended. :(

Guys,Let's close this topic, I'm done with the arrogant attitude of some Level-D members/testers/etc. sitting on there holy level-d cloud. Those who want to know what the reason is for my quick move, you can find it in the Level-D FSX forum. Thanks to JIM his workaround I solved the bounching bouncing, whatever the name for it is in English, bug, and expected somekind of input/solution from the Level-D guys instead of English lessons or how to make a departure with an airliner...This has nothing to do with the complains and bugs that are still in the FSX version for almost 4 years now.Again, JIM, Thx for the solution....

From looking at Jim's Avatar, I'm sure he's competent in bouncing. LOL.gifI'm also glad to read about at least a workaround there. Happy landings!

If you go into a forum feeling and "sounding" angry then don't be surprised if some of that anger is thrown back at you. Ignore the idiots, they are found in any forum, including this one, they are generally looking for a bite, and you gave them one :) Work through this with Daryl and I'm sure he will be able to help.
