Any 'new' news from PCPilot ?

Why?
MS is opening a market store to make money, if you can get addons for free they can't make money, I mean if I can use very good free addons in Flight why will I buy them from MS?Do you think MS will allow you to use free addons for Flight when they are trying to sell you some from their store? IMHO addons will have to be approved or certified by MS or come from approved or certified dev. to be use with Flight, again it's a question of $$$.

I think the only thing one could reasonably conclude is that at that particular time, with that specific team in place, and working with that specific set of code, this was the direction ACES was headed.Given that the entire ACES studio was summarily sacked, and that a caretaker crew remained in place just long enough to archive all of the code and development documentation, it's by no means certain that a new team assembled directly under the supervision of MS Game Studios have the same goals in mind...
I'd suggest that one of the reasons that ACES studio was sacked is that Microsorft really didn't like its goals and that these have been changed - by how much we'll just have to wait and see.

Boy-O-Boy you are sure wrong with that statement!
Jim-O-Jim, rather than just a nasty-sounding statement, why don't you just contribute the info you know so we can all benefit?Cheers,- jahman.

We can all benefit by not posting information that is totally wrong. What we all know has been shared at MS and PCP.

Well, if that information is wrong, I did post it in good faith. So if you know better and can correct me, please briefly state your case and don't just post a non-answer.But maybe being informative and polite is a stretch for you.Cheers,- jahman.

Let's better post about why you know Pete wasn't kept in the loop for FSX. Remember, that is your post so please post your information.Because the FSX NDA is still in effect, that is the case I can state.

If you can get good free add-ons for FSX today, why would anyone buy anything from the payware companies?Honestly, your argument is not that great. Try to understand how the add-on community works. No freeware add-on can compete with some payware out there. While there are really good freeware releases, those add-ons don't have the team of paid experts like payware does. Yes, Microsoft could have the market available that payware developers can get their add-ons hosted on. (MS would gather a certain % of profit, most likely and also have their own add-ons available as well) But that doesn't mean that freeware wont be possible in Flight. It would be a huge mistake to remove freeware from the equation.

Pete Dowson wasn't really kept in the loop for FSX either! The man is an institution and I would be really surprised if there wasn't an FSUIPC5.Cheers,- jahman.
HelloA quick read through Peters forum would reveal that he was in fact kept in the loop regarding FSX, however the following post does not fill me with hope regarding Flight! and its usefulness to those of us with programmable hardware, MCP's ect.http://forum.simflight.com/topic/65765-new-ms-flight-sim-fsuipc/

OTOH that thread took place in September 2010 and Peter's thoughts at the time were
From what I've read it will be a fairly closed, mostly web-based, very game-oriented program, with any potential add-ons, if any, only going through MS in a pretty tightly controlled setup which will cost too much for most amateur efforts.
I believe most people's expectations nowadays for the game are for something different. Not saying that either he or you are wrong mind you, just that I hope the glass is half full rather than half empty. :(

Give people power to really test their personality.

HelloAFAIK Pete has said nothing since then to indicate his opinions have changed.I also hope that Flight! turns out to be the Sim to replace FS9 and FSX but I am not getting too excited at this point. :(

Not only was Pete D. "kept in the loop," he was very much a driving force in helping ACES sort out the issues with SimConnect!

I understand and your point is a valid one, I am not looking at this from a simmer point of view I am looking at it from a dev. (payware) and MS point of view.I do not use any free addons at all with FSX, I had to many problems with them in the past (not all of them), I don't think MS or the dev. want to have to deal with us saying "I just installed your addons (payware) and my Flight just crashed" not caused by their addons but caused by a free addons interacting the wrong way with theirs (payware).By MS having control over who's making the payware addons it will be easyer for them do deal with the culprit in case of a problem if their is one, patch, modification or else but an approved dev. having bugs in their addons is less likely. The other good reason for MS not to have free addons is the lost of $$$ by not selling payware addons since you can get it for free, not everybody can spend some serious amount of money on payware, to me free addons will come from the approved dev. like some alrready do, exp: you buy a big scenery and they will give you a free airport with it or something like that.

Almost every payware dev came from freeware. With no freeware there won't be new payware developers, at least not much of them. If there were no freeware tools for FS9 and FSX I wouldn't learn what I know and I doubt I'd be making payware at the moment.

I agree with you but today is a different ball game, since MS is opening a market store I think they will be able to choose who will sell (or from whom they will sell) addons in the store keeping the price where they want it. This is all pure speculation but I'm looking at it as if I was in MS shoes.Always keep in mind that this time the dev.(mabe not all of them) are in bed with MS since the beginning, it was a surprise to us to see MS coming out with Flight after closing Aces but not a surprise to the dev., there is no way in hell you'll convince me that the dev. did not know that ahead of time, again (logically) will you release Flight with an empty market store, nothing to sell in it?

That's good to hear Thanks for the clarification.Cheers,- jahman.
