Any 'new' news from PCPilot ?

Featured Replies

Isn't this thread about an April update in PC Pilot or have we lost the topic of conversation somewhere in our NDA masacre :LMAO:Actually Mike I was hoping for something on the website as well. I do think though they release screenshots not based on set periods of time but on accomplishing development milestones. That's what they appear to have indicated in the news updates, so I'm sure when they have reached there next milestone we'll get something NEW to look at. Cheers,Dave.
I thought the PC Pilot article was just a rehash of what we know already - so not new news.

What the previous version of Flight didn't support it haha. I can see what you mean, free 6DoF head tracking is a nice idea, but support issues abound and the resolution and accuracy of the head movement is never going to be as good using a webcam over a dedicated IR system. For me use of a head tracking system requires a certain investment on the part of the user before they can enjoy the immersive quality of the technology, and using a webcam could ruin this experiance right at the start, so to get this right first up it's worth the money to buy something like TrackIR from NaturalPoint which is much better both technically and for driver and application support including probably Flight. If you've not tried a 6DoF system yet, I think Freetrack looks reasonable from what I have read and to a degree is supported in FSX (simconnect). If you like this then I would recommend saving up for Track IR 5 before Flight is released - should give you plenty of time :( Cheers.Dave.
Please, don't start again and again with the same "NP TrackIR is better than Freetrack", "Freetrack is an hack", and so on... I'm using it from more than a year with every flight simulator I have (IL-2 1946, Cliffs Of Dover, Strike Fighters, etc.) and racing sims (rFactor) and I think it works very well. Probably I think I did a mistake writing about this, I hope i'll not open a "can of worms". Yes, you can use simconnect to use it, but, I think, adding some lines of code in the software, and support a large freeware community would be better. Right now, I just can't fly without it. Probably, if you think Freetrack, like some other headtracking software, is for poor men, i can say that you are wrong.I enjoyed building my own headclip, and when everything worked so nice, it give you a great satisfaction.RegardsP.S.you know that with a PS3eyecam, that I bought for less than 30$, have the same, if not better, accuracy that a TrackIr have?

HelloWhy would MS duplicate Simconnect? , Simconnect is what they provide for exactly this purpose. On the subject of TrackIR vs various free solutions, I am glad you are enjoying Freetrack but please understand that it is not anywhere as good as TrackIR both in hardware and software support.I have tried just about every headtracking system and TrackIR as a total package is the best so far, that might be hard to accept but true all the same.

Ah, i see, you are another NaturalPoint's fan. Please, explain me where TrackIR is better than freetrack. In the link here you need to compare it with a ps3eyecam http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FreeTrackTrackIr is EXPENSIVE for what it really is, a webcam and 3 leds, almost 200$ in europe?? are we kidding?never mind...like Britney Spears said: Oops!.. I did it again...

HelloYep I am a big fan of TrackIr, the cost is not even a factor for me, in europe you can spend more than the TrackIr costs on a decent night out with your mates. If cost is important to you imagine both systems were offered to you free of charge, which would you prefer?truthfully now

So, only because you or mad dog or any other user that have more posts than me, is better, and i have to be p i s_s_ed off? you are acting like a kid, how old are you?

and who told you I'm leaving? or you will cry and ask a mod to ban me? ah yes, you have 2,160 and more posts, and I have only 30 posts, you are the winner!!@frankla, thank you but you don't have to be sorry, you did nothing wrong. I already understood how some people act here... this is the reason why in this years I didn't wrote too many posts...

Some posters don't appreciate thet thse forums are or discussion and reasoned argument.Descending to personal attacks means they've run out of arguments and have reverted to childish name calling.

+1, Flight discussion is the best example, it happened to me on other forums, at the beginning of Flight peoples had their own idea of what Flight should be and they believed their idea to be the truth, when you show them something remotely different of what their idea of Flight is and they don't have an argument against yours to defend their position the name calling start....

Then please address your problem with him rather than start name calling.
