May 14, 201115 yr Hey Guys,I'm currently running i7-920 D0 @ stock (stock heatsink) would anyone recommend the Thermaltake FRIO as a good cooler for me to oc to 4ghzCheers.
May 14, 201115 yr In short..... No!!!. Unless you like listening to a vacuum cleaner in your PC. The Noctua NH-D14 is the mutts nuts is you want a good 4GHz cooler. Trevor Hunt
May 14, 201115 yr @Cmdrx3Unfortunately the NH-D14 wont fit because the memory modules has huge heat spreaders.
May 14, 201115 yr Commercial Member Corsair A70 for a good and inexpensive air cooler that will get you to 4+ easily. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
May 14, 201115 yr I got the A70 cooler and it's great! Only problem I had was with the rubber pieces that stick out. They were blocking my 3rd RAM stick so I had to pull them back to get it in the slot. Other than that I've got my processor clocked to 4.7Ghz Bryan Bernatek Commercial Instrument Single Engine and Multi-Engine CFI ASEL CoolerMaster 932, ASUS P8P67 Pro, Intel I5 2500k @ 4.7Ghz, WD 1TB 7200 SATA6, GeForce 8800 GTXOC, Corsair A70, Ultra 650W, 3x 24" Samsung monitor via a Triple Head2go. May 14, 201115 yr No brainer, I love mine and runs really cool avg about 32 degrees :Big Grin: 40 when in fsx the h70 - at the moment overclocked i7 6 core at 4.2mhzhttp://www.corsair.c...dro-series.htmlRich Rich Sennett
May 16, 201115 yr Topic moved to the appropriate hardware forum. It did not belong in the PMDG Forums.
May 16, 201115 yr Recommend the Corsair H60 cooler... it will fit nicely with your ram heat spreaders... It's what I use - cut's down on the clutter. I run temps around 55C (highest core 3 by real temp) when benchmarking @ 4GHz.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181015 | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 17, 201115 yr Matter of fact i just purchased and installed the NH-D14 this last weekend because i am just getting into overclocking my i7-950 for the first time. Just completed stress test and passed. I am impressed. As far as RAM clearance is concerned, during my research all the reviews said that the NH-C14 was darn near as good. It is verticle and solves this problem. Rick Hobbs
May 18, 201115 yr Apparently Corsair is coming out with the H80 and H100! This hasn't officially been announced by Corsair, rather these were listed on a Swedish computer supplies site this morning. They were also listed on scan.co.uk earlier, the H100 priced at £80. Just a couple days ago, a Corsair rep on the overclock.net forums spilled the beans that they were coming out with a 240 radiator version. May 21, 201115 yr I have a similar system to yours. I just replaced my Xigmatic Black Knight w/push-pull fans. I installed a new Corsair hd70 closed loop water cooler. My ambient temps went down 7-8*. My max temps went from 76-80 to 68-70.
