If there are any news, I'm sure they will tell us. :( Until then it makes more sense that the guys are working on the NGX then always answering the same stupid questions! :(

To pmdg probably in the too hard basket my idea of the post being made lately nowdays being waste of time reading etc. Is to insure that everyone who is able to make a post in here have a regristed copy of a pmdg products(proof of purchase etc) like in other aircraft forum u need to regrister ur product before u able to post anything, other people can still read the forums but unable to post anything.
This has been addressed before, and I believe PMDG's response was something to the effect of that they wanted complete transparency and not the perception that they need a locked forum as if they had something to hide. I agree with that stance, as making someone pay for the product to gain access to the forums isn't going to eliminate the trolls anyway. I'd venture to guess the vast majority of the "trolls" here are actually paying PMDG customers.-johnny rodgers
any news on the wider beta test?
I would not look for any news on this next Monday either. It's the July 4th holiday here in the US. RSR and some other team members are based there so I would not expect any thing on that day.

In all fairness, if PMDG didn't want people asking "stupid questions" then they shouldn't have told us they expected to start wide beta on the monday that they stated.Do you really think people wouldn't ask about it when we get no news after a week?Use your head and stop defending the carrot on a stick.

People would ask anyway. 12 hrs after an update some people ask for a new update.

We *very* clearly said that there was not a hard date on the wide beta stuff - the estimates RSR and myself provided in that other thread were our real estimates at the time. Obviously we've run into some things that are causing it to take longer than expected. If you really want to know specifically, our tech team discovered another issue with a particular type of VNAV descent that's taken some time to fix - parts of the code had to be reworked to change the behavior and that takes time. One man is doing that VNAV code, you have to understand that - he's working 18 hours a day on this airplane right now. We're targeting tomorrow night now - again, this is a TARGET, not a "promise", not a "guarantee" or anything like that. Targets are missed very often in this kind of development - remember we're doing everything from scratch on this airplane.

Ryan, keep up the good work while shooting for your "targets". Once this NGX is released and we are all airborne, the anxiety will be over and the waiting will soon be forgotten. If it is released with obvious bugs, that is what won't be forgotten and could become a nightmare for support. The delays are understandable for a sim this complex, and PMDG's desire for perfection is legionary and not surprising for anyone.Bob

Ryan, you're going overboard on defense. You completely missed the point of what I posted.I responded to the guy that said people should stop asking "stupid questions," specifically "is there an update on wide beta."If PMDG gives an estimated date (and yes I did use the word 'estimated' in my own post that you yourself quoted), not a promised date, not a guaranteed date, people will still ask for news and updates if they don't hear anything after the week is over with and the last thing we knew wide beta was estimated to start Monday. So no, I don't think someone asking "any news on wide beta" is a 'stupid question' as that guy pointed out. If you guys give us dates, even estimated ones, we're going to want to know what happened with it, plain and simple. If anyone at PMDG didn't want us asking about wide beta at all, then you wouldn't have given us an estimated date of that past Monday. The fact you give us estimated dates is either because A) you just want to make us be quiet so you throw us something we can chew on until we get restless again OR :( you really do want to keep us in the loop.If the answer is B, then keeping us in the loop means if we don't hear from someone by Friday we're going to ask about it.The original guy asking for an update didn't even ask in a mean way. It wasn't "god you guys said Monday what's taking so long (rage rage rage rage)." It was simply, "any news on wide beta." But he got bashed for even posting that. All I'm saying, ALL I'M SAYING, is that if you give us something and don't follow up, we're going to ask about it. If people want to bash us for that, fine.If PMDG doesn't give us any dates/days at all, even with the word "estimated in it," I think things would go a lot smoother. If we ask about progress and you just say "we're working on it" with no indications as to a frame of reference for time, you wouldn't get half of the criticism you get because of all the times we've heard "it's starting X day or Y week" or "we're very close." I think we've heard that more then anything. After months and months of hearing statements like that, yeah it sounds a lot like a carrot on a stick after a while.I tried to make this post as civil as I could.Black and white, that's how I see the situation. A little PR and some discretion over what you tell us goes a long way to cooling heads.

NopeI'm referring to the one where a customer tells the development team how to handle communication with customers publicly.Like this

Use your head and stop defending the carrot on a stick.

There's a few other doozies in here... I'd suggest avoiding this forum until you see a "PRODUCT RELEASED!!!" message somewhere. Then we can avoid the 5 paragraph "dress downs" in this forum. It'll also save you some stress! :(
