I guess it's so called "legacy feature" that we do not need anymore, same as 2d panels, which we do not need neither... Yawn.gif Lj. Prodanovic

And we don't have the ground-cockpit pushback callouts either. But we have an ultra realistic plane and that's what was expected. you can fullfill copilot callouts (and much much more) using FS2Crew. It has an voice version where you literally commanding the FO by your voice. I used it for IFLY, it is very good. Just not my kind of doing things in a sim (I like to do everything myself).

I think that us all agreeing on some absolute definition of realism in a simmer environment is very unlikely. For me, being bound to a static computer copilot isn't realistic but I know a lot of people enjoy it. Talking to my computer is sort of where I draw the line, although talking to ATC on VATSIM is OK and adds a lot of realism for me. Another example of different simming preferences is that I wouldn't dream of using AI traffic either, but I know a lot of people do. For me, however, online traffic is the only thing that feels right. To each his own I guess, but I really don't care for PMDG insisting on me buying FS2Crew by removing their own callouts(I'll call it "removing" since they've had it in their products up until now). And I'm very curious as to why the sudden change?...
You make a very true and good point. With respect to the reference speed callouts; it is my educated guess that they are usually *verbally called by the pilot not flying and not by any of the aircraft system(s), though they are visually annunciated on the speed tape and displayed via the FMC CDU.As to why the team only modeled the V1 call out and not Vr and V2 - well your guess is as good as mine.Just for the record, I have the V1 callout disabled as it doesn't really add or detract to my flying experience. Happy flying! Ashley Frew. * Disclaimer: I'm MIGHT be wrong; but I know I'm right. ;) ***I was wrong***
That sounds dodgy. I think you're wrong. Very very wrong indeed. Why would the terrain system call V speeds, when they are speed markers? Ash Frew.
Really ? Have just a look in FCOMM 2 page 464 and below, then FCOMM 1 page 116 and below "Take off" procedures... Not "dodgy", it's just how the 737 works. Regards, Richard Portier

The aircraft systems call the V1 speed which is calculated by the FMC, Vr and V2 are both called by the FO or Captain depending on who is flying

http://forum.avsim.n...is-sound-issue/ As for "realism" - it does depend on each individual on what that means and I think we should all show some respect towards each other that people have their own attitudes towards it, sometimes driven by factors such as finances, family responsibilites, etc. For example: I sometimes have a beer before a flight and I don't pay Boeing $80,800,000.00 every time I write off a 737 in FSX in the name of realism. Criticise me all you like, but that's my decision. :) I also don't ask my wife dress up as a stewardess and serve me food when I'm flying, nor do I strap myself into my desk chair at takeoff, landing and whenever I'm in my seat for extended periods.

if this is true then that would make sense, as pmdg perhaps has chosen to not simulate voices interacting within the cockpit given the future plans to make the aircraft a multi-player experience.(the captain's voice during pushback is communication outside the cockpit) it is also consistent with their approach to not simulate the movement of non-functional objects like bookshelves, cans of soda etc.

Thanks for the link Matt, and I agree on your simming ideas, althoug the missus dressing up and serving me coffee is a damned fine idea Money%20Eyes.gif So they may add it in an update according to Ryan. I certainly hope so! I hope they don't assume we all like FS2crew.

Attn: Richard and Tom. I am dodgy, and so is my knowledge. I profusely apologise to you both and other forum users. I should have known better than to do what I did without first referring to text; quite simply, i'm appalled with myself for not referring to the bibles of flying. Here lie's my declaration of "no further participation in all things technical". My apologies again to you both. Ashley Frew.

Hi Ashley, Don't worry Ashley smile.png . If you have some doubts about technical systems (I have some myself with the B737 laugh.png ), give a look in the manual just with the PDF's search keywords function... Then if you don't understand, just ask here, you will have the answer. Have a nice day Regards, Richard Portier

So taking to vatsim Atc is real to you but calling for "gear up" and "flapsxxx" to a FO is not. But you want a AI FO to call Vr etc to you. FS2Crew even let's you ask the FO to set heading, ALT etc this AI FO does what a FO does. But that's not real and nore is a AI FO calling Vr etc then?Your Right each to there own.But you would have thought PMDG would have them calls in. There push back now is almost the same as FS2Crew push back.

Yeah a callout for Vr would be great. Why would they leave this out?

Kimo

Because it's not an aircraft system.
