September 14, 201114 yr The infantile behaviour and arrogance of some people on this forum is hilarious. It's makes me laugh.+0.5 This discussion was mature, I would argue, until Peter suggested that I go elsewhere to have the discussion. Forums are for discussion. Disagreements are inevitable--and, why should we be afraid to disagree? Plus, I'm a lawyer by trade, so I'm easily provoked when told to shoo away. Like AoA, I have my faults. Ah, couldn't resist. If you are implying that I am among the "infantile and arrogant", I will admit that I got a little slap happy with the signing my name thing. I really can't help myself when those "please sign your name according to the forum rules" people come along. It's like cat nip for kittens. Anyway, I will now return to reading the FCOMs, which I might add would be somewhat harder to do if I had training video(s) distracting me. Trevor Moore

Trevor Moore I feel your pain: I too am weary of waiting: but, wait we must.As to the so called "forum police" well, they're darn near "invisible" to me. Wonder how manyof them would actually be able to think their way out of a "wet paper bag". You're right. On a forum: in a thread, we abide by the guidelines but, it would be glaringly stupid to withhold one's opinion. As Foghorn Leghorn would say "pay attention". Don't let the gallery mute you.By the way, I paid for the "Captain's package" 'in the beginning' and,if that's critical then, I'l say what I want, when I want: out loud, right here or, anywhere else, within the confines of common decency and courtesy.Out. September 15, 201114 yr To be perfectly honest, I was disappointed in the Lighting video. 17 minutes that included some review and redundancy. Important topics were missed or glossed over by stating they would be covered in future training. Nothing on emergency lighting. Nothing about power sources or fault tracing. Nothing about lighting issues and the QRH. Nick's "off the cuff" videos were an hour long, and I learned a great deal while watching those. Nick's pre-release videos were the reason I bought the "Captains Package". These guys have a track record for producing quality content, but the only "content" I've seen are a few exasperatingly long audio excuse posts, a revamped website, and a couple of forums full of ###### or complainers. They have had enough time to produce a lot more than one 17 minute video on basic lighting. Something is wrong. Either they have bitten off more than they can chew, pre sales were too low to realistically continue the project from a business standpoint, or there are management and personnel technical competency issues, who knows? What I do know is there are literally dozens of well-produced NGX training videos on YouTube. If I continue to follow the Avsim forums, read the PMDG supplied training content, work the forum tutorials, and fly the airplane, it won't be long before I won't need any training videos. I'm "Throttling On" with or without AoA, and with or without my 80 bucks. I'll wait, but I don't think everyone else will. AoA had a hot idea, but I'm afraid they are missing out on the buzz and excitement created by the release of this masterpiece of an airplane. Dennis Trawick Screen Shot Forum Rules

If all they can muster together in almost a month and a half is a short lighting video, it seems something must be wrong. From a business perspective is how I've been looking at this for the last couple of weeks. I don't think they are UNWILLING to provide a development timeline. I believe they are UNABLE to provide it. With businesses this often is an indication that resources are inadequate or they've encountered an unanticipated problem. Only time will tell. Having already watched the 8 minute lighting video preview made available on YouTube, I certainly feel like I can afford to wait to watch the next 9 minutes.
September 15, 201114 yr If I may add, the NGX has been popular amongst RW Pilots as well, and have provided mini tutorials and no cost, be it text or video. One year down the track, how much information is going to be available on this froum alone. An example of the amount of information that is surfacing, like Simon from SA who provided a typical day in the life of a 737 pilot, there is Jack_C, Frank ex Ryanair. Circletoland (username). and even the non RW pilots on here who provide valuable insight into various aspects of this wonderful plane.I think you guy's might be right, on this occasion, AoA might have dropped the ball. September 15, 201114 yr Author Indeed. There is a wealth of information in the forum, on YouTube and in the manuals provided with the NGX. I just wish people would use it. Most of the complainers seem to be people who can't be bothered to read the manuals or those who want some kind of time line. I reckon I'll be pretty clued up on the NGX before the major AoA videos become available though. Ed Haslam

September 15, 201114 yr Author I concur Pete. I had the AoA 747 training DVD and it was excellent. I'm in no hurry for the training. I have so much literature to read through that I'd rather they took their time and get it right. I'm not some petulant kid that needs instant gratification and spoon-feeding, so I'm happy to wait. I know that even if I wait 6 months, I'll learn something from it and enjoy the videos. Aviation and simming is one of my hobbies, so for me $80 and a some patience is well worth it. Ed Haslam
September 15, 201114 yr I bought the captains package and was expecting more to be released by now, I have been patient but it is getting very thin, Im sure the training will eventually be released but I want it now. What I'm really waiting for is the tutorial on how to getting everything up and going from cold and dark.
September 15, 201114 yr Jason then you have to wait 10-14 month before flightwork is being released. But my patient is alsp very thin! Patrick - Denmark i7 10900k - GTX1060 (To be upgraded to RTX3080-ti) - 32 GB of RAM - Nvme SSD - 100 mbps internet
September 15, 201114 yr Hi,I waited for over three years for the NGX. I've been flying a 737 in one form or another for that period of time since I got into FSX - I think the NGX makes possibly the fourth or fifth 737 in total.Yes the lighting video was 17 mins. But there's four things to consider here.1.) I can use all the lights switches now. 2.) I know what these light switches do now.3.) I know why these lights exist and where they exist. 4.) I still haven't read the FCOM without suffering from acute narcolepsy. I don't want to stir up things here as I can see that it's been a heated (and valid) discussion, but I have spent my money. It was my choice and I feel good about it. If something bad happens in the future I have no control over it now so I'm not going to worry about it. As a side-note: I did some forum searching some time ago and read through some very old forum disucssions about the upcoming NGX and it was interesting to note the opinions held back then. I've also read through the discussion about the early days of the iPhone and the opinions back then. Very interesting stuff. For the meantime, and for the coming months I am right behind the guys at AoA to deliver this product. Many people shouldn't buy it if they need a complete product to get their money's worth, everyone is fully entitled to their opinion - there is no right answer. The point I'm making here is that even after three years, five different 737s, loads of YouTube videos, various documents, more CTDs than I can remember and more fun than is possible to explain I'm still learning. And I don't mind being a ###### one bit. ;-)Kind regards,James Gillies
September 16, 201114 yr Commercial Member Hey all,This is the illusive 'Chris' that everyone has been talking about. I thought I'd jump into the conversation here so we can all communicate. One of my major focuses with the 737NGX Training team has been to make sure that they can focus on producing the content that you guys desire, and not getting into forums, comments and emails. That kind of work is time consuming and never ending. So, that's why you'll be hearing for me as the head of the team, and not the guys working on the videos themselves. First off, I want to thank all of you who remain in support of our plans, business model, etc. Most of those in support would have already had a history with Angle of Attack in which they can draw trust from. We do have a very loyal fanbase, and for that we are outwardly grateful for what you all do in supporting us. Again, thank you! It can't be said enough. For those of you having some negative thoughts and feelings about the current production schedule, how quickly things are being released, etc etc, thanks for your thoughts. These sort of things help us keep a pulse on what's going on, and although not the type of motivation we typically like (as some of it can be negative) it does help us get things done. As the leader of this team, the buck stops with me. Although our team is given great liberties with their creative sides and their voice in the community, there are just some things they can't say. So, with that, I'll jump in with a few points from what I've read here so far:Long Production ScheduleSome of you are pointing out that if the videos are released once a week (which right now, isn't happening) then the training will be done in 52 weeks, or 1 year. Is that acceptable? Actually, no it's not. What I've learned over the course of starting AOA and doing the products all on my own, and then transitioning to have other (better) people help out, I've found that there are tiny things that add up over the WHOLE of the project that if correect early can make a huge difference. Right now we are NOT in an ideal situation with our production schedule because of many of the things we've already mentioned. A few of those being our new team, the complexity of the project, the design of the backdrops and other elements, the design of the production process itself.Just as with any other business, the most important thing we're creating right now is an assembly line or factory. Generally speaking, any of these facilities see an initial slow period as all the kinks are worked out in the systems, and the positions are filled where help is slim. Thankfully with the digital age this will mostly be a simple process, but it does have it's complexities and challenges. We have people awake 24 hours a day working on this product, which is actually pretty neat. That in and of itself poses a challenge. It takes very effective communication, which is perhaps the most difficult thing to do. Lack of ScheduleBecause things are so unpredictable right now, and even the 'once a week' isn't ideal for us, we're not going to give anyone fake dates. We WILL start giving dates and a production schedule once we work all of those 'kinks' out that I talked about. But right now is not the time. Conclusion (for now)My role, just speaking to what I'm doing, is to make sure that these guys realize there is a large push behind them to get this done, but also a push in front of them saying 'do it right'. We have to find the happy medium here, get the production line running smoothly, and start to push out these sections on a consistent and regular basis. That means that I'm in the trenches finding these 'kinks' and filling the holes where help is slim. We've found many such areas so far, and I'm continuing to work on it. This may sound completely borish to you, but my goal here in the coming weeks is to have a way of production with this particular product that is predictable, efficient and effective. Just like you would expect a specific car model to be the same as it's twin you see on the street, or a delicious sandwhich the same each time you go back to your favorite cafe, that's what we will be doing collectivily with our 737NGX videos. If you have any questions, feel free to direct them to me here publically. Keep in mind that I will give you respect by default, but I will also give you the type of response you deserve. Thankfully this thread so far, although heated here and there, has been respectful for the most part. So let's keep that going, keep the conversation going, and I'll do my best to answer you guys. Throttle On! I can't be in all places at once. If you see someone is having an issue with an Angle of Attack product, or something that should be brought to my attention, please message me. I want everyone to have a stellar experience with AOA. Thanks so much! Chris Palmer Founder/President Angle of Attack
September 16, 201114 yr Hi Chris ! As a retired NG pilot I only wish that your type of material was available when I was studying.I have watched the Lighting Preview with great interest and I believe that your approach to the whole thing is excellent. This is the ultimate way of learning !!!!I will be be purchasing the Ground Work very soon and am looking forward to seeing this info presentedin such an intuitive and interesting manner. The NGX has given me a fresh and enthusiastic new interestin the simulation of a Boeing 737NG. I think there are exciting times ahead in the flight simulation world. Congrats on such a wonderful product !Coupled with the NGX, it is the only way to go. Fred. Frederic Steiner.
