October 7, 201114 yr I think if you look back, you will notice that when a new announcement is made, Robert just starts a new thread, so nothing gets lost.If people want to express their opinions on the update, what's the harm. As long as it is respectfull that is. Also every so often a useful tip turns up, like the one discussed between WebMaximus & Senfus.Regards, Yep, NGX announcements have always been put in a new pinned topic & the previous topic unpinned. The occasional answer to a question may get lost in the 35+ pages of an announcement topic, but the meat of it is always in post #1. October 8, 201114 yr Just as well you gave up Software Enginnering after school, before you hit the ecconomic realities of Industry and the real world. What do you think Microsoft have been doing with windows, for the past 15 years !!! There seems to be a lot of condescension in your statement, especially because I gave it up to serve my country, but Microsoft charges for new versions, but not Hotfixes, although I will say Windows 7 was probably a result of Vista being so terribly flawed. But in that comparison this is also a new version of a previous product, and is necessary because of the changes in technology. And luckily the Coast Guard decided I should give up Software Engineering too and is now paying me to fly. A few things here...1.) FSMP, you are totally correct about Microsoft windows. 2.) MDChase... Yes, Microsoft does charge for hotfixes... Windows Vista is a hotfix for Windows XP, Windwos 7 is a hotfix for Windows Vista. If you haven't seen it, Windows is pretty much all the same thing with hotfixes left and right. You'd be stupid not to see it in the first place! 3.) This is a computer program MDChase, not all the bugs are out of it. When new aircraft were introduced to the military, the real military that is not the coast guard, the military still had to fix all the bugs. So get with the program and come down from your high horse. 4.) Why are we all even writing/answering this guy when he can't even follow forum rules have his name at the bottom of his posts! Just a thought! And Robert, you guys take your time getting the SP1 right. As long as we keep getting updates on progress, I'm good with it... as are 99.99% of the others here! October 8, 201114 yr I'm sure a lot of purchasers were young teens who saved their allowance or odd jobs money to buy it.That's me, I put a bit away for addons and the a bit for PC and soon I will be saving for flying lessons. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern

Sorry for bursting your microsofthating bubble, but Microsoft doesn't charge anything for the continuous updates that you can get via the Windows Update function (which of course only works when you have a legal copy). If there is a problem they usually fix it, free of charge. If you had nothing but trouble with Windows, which seems to be the case after your little rant, I suggest that you learn how to set up your system properly. As for being stupid to not see something. Well...
October 8, 201114 yr Why don,t we just wait for Robert's next update. I think this thread has turned into something different to its original intent. Rick Hobbs

Well... So Jigsaw, what you're saying is that the windows OS are not all based on the same platform? You poor disillusioned child. Oh.. and windows update functions do work when you have an illegal copy. Don't know where you get your info from, but you are totally wrong with that. But I do have a legal copy of the windows OS that I currently run. And why do you assume that I am having trouble with windows or that I hate windows. I'm not the one that made this a little rant... YOU did! I suggest that you learn more about your OS and it's history than opening your mouth and inserting both your feet! So, who's the stupid one? Not I!As for me.. this case about windows is closed because as Wannabflyer just stated, "I think this thread has turned into something different to its original intent". Have a nice day! October 8, 201114 yr Actually Patrick is correct! You get hotfix's for Windows constantly, via Windows Update. Not to mention major service packs if required. All free of charge! Each new incarnation of Windows is somewhat more than a simple hotfix. Ask Microsift how many man hours is involved in a new version of Windows,
October 8, 201114 yr 3.) This is a computer program MDChase, not all the bugs are out of it. When new aircraft were introduced to the military, the real military that is not the coast guard, the military still had to fix all the bugs. So get with the program and come down from your high horse. Not the real military? Thats an incredibly ignorant statement, considering we have troops abroad who have given their lives and risk our lives everyday at home, if you don't agree with opinion on the product thats fine, but it's pretty uncalled for to discredit people who serve their country. Look which service Academy President Obama chose to speak at this year, it was the Coast Guard Academy, my commencement so obviously somebody thinks we're "real", plus I'm receiving the exact same flight training right now as every Marine and Naval Aviator. That being said, I know these things take time and this isn't their only job, the only things I am disappointed with are the CTDs, I understand other bugs are going to happen because this isn't an XBOX game they have to make it work on a million different systems. I'm looking forward to SP1 and I hope it fixes everything and I'm sure they working hard to make sure that happens. I'm sure the CTDs have something to do with FSX just being an older program and the SimConnect bufferpool not being large enough to handle the data transmissions, and I hope there is a fix that is possible because I know FSX creates a ton of limitations. October 8, 201114 yr If anything the Coast Guard is at war all the time where as the other services (I'm former Army) only go to war when called and each unit for a year, sometimes more. The CG has to deal with drug runners who will not hesitate to pull the trigger and it's not like they have much back up like troops overseas has. What an ignorant statement.
October 8, 201114 yr Captains-Lets get the bad news out of the way first: We are delaying the SP1 release and the 600/700 release for AT LEAST one week, possibly as many as two.First week is over, so we have to wait another one. But don't hurry up guys, after Hotfix4 I've no CTD's or panel freezes anymore.Take your time, sort out problems and prepare the 600/700. Regards, Mats Weinberger

Well... Nice in theory, but everybody who paid for retail copies of Windows Vista Ultimate and was promised extras that never materialized, then got not a penny off Windows 7 in return, would like a word with you. (I'm one of those people.) However, this is absolutely and utterly off-topic. PMDG aren't charging for upgrades either, so the example has nothing to do with this thread. October 9, 201114 yr ... So, who's the stupid one? Not I! Probably fair to say that the jury is still out on that one.
