The question mark was meant to signify my doubt. The important thing is the bulk of the message and it's meaning came thru, I think.

How on earth do we know that
HelloTo quote Pete's reply when asked the question in his forum."Unlikely. The only chance there'll be for FSUIPC on Flight is if it supports SimConnect in a reasonably compatible way (though hopefully with a far better bug-free weather interface). I think this is unlikely, though, and I am simply not going to embark on a complete new development. I want time to enjoy my old age a bit whilst I've still got some!"http://forum.simflight.com/topic/69961-new-microsoft-flight-with-fsuipc/page__hl__flight%26%2333%3B__fromsearch__1http://forum.simflight.com/topic/69931-ms-flight-support/page__hl__flight%26%2333%3B__fromsearch__1http://forum.simflight.com/topic/65765-new-ms-flight-sim-fsuipc/page__hl__%22ms+flight%22__fromsearch__1

Quoting Pete Dawson : " I think it very very unlikely. From what I've read it will be a fairly closed, mostly web-based, very game-oriented program, with any potential add-ons, if any, only going through ". I share his vision, above all the part where he says " Flight will be a fairly closed, mostly web-based, very game-oriented program ".-

You share Pete's pessimism. I do not.

Why should Pete be pessimist ? He read and saw stuff and he released a prediction based on his experience and knowledge.I would call him pragmatic instead.

Pete has read and seen the precise same things I have. We both have our areas of expertise based on both knowledge and experience, yet we have come to somewhat divergent viewpoints.Statements of the form "if this, then that" do not guarantee that "if this" will occur, only that "then that" will follow, where "then that" is an action taken by the first person. I might point out that he pretty much said the same thing with regards to FSX up until the beta had begun and both he and I had access to FSX... Note also that this statement was made prior to MSGS clarifying what "Flight" is proposed to actually be... Whistle.gif

If you bothered to read any of the news releases by Microsoft, you would immediately see that this is false.

Only time will say who of us is right and who is wrong.Just 3-6 months and 50% of forumers will be forced , in all honesty , to eat their own hat.Who will be right ? Stay tuned

Hello Mark If it does not support Fsuipc, and it is looking very much like it will not, then I will have no obvious way to interface my hardware. So it would be a pointless purchase.
Why do you suppose that Microsoft would design its new version to support a third-party add-on for FSX?

Gerry Howard

Flight will NOT support addons sold for FSX.
All addons or just some of them?My mesh for FSX won't work? Seeing as that portion was drastically changed from 9 to X, where or what would be the rational to change it for Flight? Same with my photo scenery, vector based scenery? All changed for the better in X vs. 9.Or are you trying to imply some type of DRM? If so, where is your reference. I hope it's not some 3pd support forum!

What ever you got for FSX (sceneries, airplane ++) will not work with Flight, now, lets just use logic here, if your FSX sceneries or planes were to work with Flight why in hell will MS open a store,.... to sell what.... futher more (assuming that 3RD party developers are not left in the dust) where is the money for them if you can use in Flight what you already got for FSX, will free addons compatibility make good business sense to you?

Why did Microsoft bother to offer an FSX SDK when FS9 add-ons worked in FSX? New shaders and formats. There is a chance of some scenery or aircraft add-ons being compatible, but they likely wouldn't be able to take advantage of the new shader technology we've seen in Flight, just as FS9 aircraft don't use self shadowing, specular maps, or bump maps.

Brandon Filer

When MS released FSX did they open a store for FSX addons also?
