... lets just use logic here, ...
I must have missed that class on logic? Professor Spock, wasn't he the instructor? You made a definitive statement. Now you're trying to logic your way there? If you want to say "I think...", that's OK. But to make a definitive statement based on logic? Really?Just say "I think there will be DRM implemented that will preclude FSX addons from being used in Flight". That's OK by me. It's not like I would come back and rub your nose in your mistake, Alain. Whistle.gif

Alain knows much more than the rest of us LOL.gif I think that native addons FSX SP2/Acceleration might have a chance of working in Flight. Possible upgrades could be sold in the MS store at small upgrade prices.

Flight will NOT support addons sold for FSX.
I thought you said Flight and FSX share the same engine?
Why do you suppose that Microsoft would design its new version to support a third-party add-on for FSX?
HelloI don't expect it too, but I would expect that they would have some internal consistency across the series, either with the internal controls that Fsuipc is able to expose for our use or by not completly reworking Simconnect. As far as I know Pete has said that this time around he has had no communication with the Flight! devs, which I find surprising.Frankly I do not expect very much at all from Microsoft with this title, but would be very pleased if it turned out to be something that I can use in the manner that I use FSX and FS9 before it.But if I cannot find a way to interface my hardware, and this is where Fsuipc and WideFs comes in, I will have no use for Flight!.Flying with a simple joystick setup and clicking around with the mouse holds little appeal other than for a few quick circuits.Hopefully they will have not messed about with Simconnect too much and Pete can get a new version of Fsuipc and WideFs working with the sim.

HelloIn the case of sceneries that would depend on which code base they started from, who knows they may have gone back to the FS9 code as a starting point rather than attempt to fix the broken aspects of FSX
What ever you got for FSX (sceneries, airplane ++) will not work with Flight, now, lets just use logic here, if your FSX sceneries or planes were to work with Flight why in hell will MS open a store,.... to sell what.... futher more (assuming that 3RD party developers are not left in the dust) where is the money for them if you can use in Flight what you already got for FSX, will free addons compatibility make good business sense to you?
The only store for which I have seen published information is the Windows 8 store. Flight will run on Windows XP and Windows 7, no mention of Windows 8.Where do you get your information?

If I'm wrong I'll be the first one to say it and you can come back and rub it in, I can take it. I stand by my statement.

@GHDMy bad I should have said WindowsMarketplace...here is an example, was Dirt 3 based on Dirt 2? Why can't you use Dirt 2 addons with Dirt 3?This add-on will works with Dirt 3 http://marketplace.x...d2-6e6592978e95This add-on will works with Dirt 2... http://marketplace.x...cf-0001434d0819

See what I wrote above about Dirt 2 and Dirt 3..

It's rather a stretch to compare Dirt2 and Dirt3 with FSX and Flight isn't it Rolling Eyes.gif
Flight will NOT support addons sold for FSX.
Personally I suspect that Alain is correct although not for the reasons he gave. IMHO the reason will be because MS has revamped those systems to give improved performance and flexibility to Flight and developers. No guarantees of course as I know just as much (little) as everyone else. :)

Give people power to really test their personality.

Why? I just showed you that Dirt 2 add-ons are not compatible with Dirt 3...what is it so hard to understand? My post was not to compare a race car game to a flight simulator but to show you that add-ons between Dirt 2 and Dirt 3 are not compatible, they could have made Dirt 2 add-ons compatible with Dirt 3 could have they not, so why do you think they did not....Dirt 2 and Dirt 3 use the same engine right?

That can be also, but as I tried to explained this before the MAIN reason to why you will not be able to use your FSX add-ons with Flight is PIRACY control to protect MS and 3RD party developers if they make add-ons for Flight...the other reason is $$$

Here's a comment that came out of MS years ago about 'forward compatibility'.This was actually a 'feature' (a program) built into previous versions of FS.Even extremely minor changes break the chain of compatibility. It's why FSX SP2 native add-ons are not even FSX RTM compatible. This has nothing to do with marketing...it's just the unforgiving nature of computers ;)The issue here is not about Flight supporting existing FSX add-ons, it's about existing FSX add-ons supporting Flight :)We just need to look back over the years to see how these transitions are managed. With sophisticated add-ons the script below won't give a good result. But with an SDK most all existing content can be made forward compatible by its authors.

We normally handle this issue by establishing anupgrade path for aircraft developed for previousversions of the product that would not fit with the newroutine. This allows users to utilize their older aircraftwith the new version of the product, but at the sametime we quietly upgrade their old aircraft behind thescenes. This upgrade capability is sometimes as difficult aproblem to solve as developing the new feature itself.Referring back to our example above, if our newturbine engine routine requires additional parameters tobe defined for the engine to work correctly in theSimEngine, we must figure out how to estimate thosemissing parameters for older aircraft. However, wemust also make sure the estimated parameters willprovide similar aircraft performance in the new routineas it had in the old.

Of course add-ons made for FSX can be converted to be used in Flight AFTER they have been uploaded to the WindowsMarketplace and sold to you again, no 3RD party developers will make their existing add-ons compatible for Flight for free, Aerosoft is doing the same thing with their airports for XP-10 ....Orbx is also making their add-ons compatible for Prepar3D...all of this for a fee.My 2 cents, WindowsMarketplace = brand new add-ons.Below is the DiRT 2 Access All Areas Pack, can this be done for Flight.....?? http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/DiRT-2-Access-All-Areas-Pack/00000000-0000-400c-80cf-0001434d0819Make the whole world your off-road playground with the Access All Areas Pack! Not to dispute your point alain but this "all access pack" just unlocks the game for those who can't be bothered playing it through and unlocking it themselves for free, it doesn't offer anything new. Dirt 3 has a few tracks available only through DLC.

I know, that was not the best example I should have take Dirt 3 as my example but I think you guys are getting my point.
