The Beta is Coming!

My suggestion...reverie:MaybeJust maybe, the reason we are only seeing Hawaii is because they are experimenting with various renderings, so they wanted an isolated area yet complete with mountains/cities/towns/water, and wanted to use fps-friendly a/c (i.e. the simplistic bi-plane) in order to get things other than a/c established, and up and running ready for the beta release. At any rate thats how I would approach development, make it easy to trial and error stuff. Landing with full AI at JFK would not be good for changing things on the fly to see what effects small changes/improvements would have on new ways fo rendering etc...And the whole wide world is open for business after that, or so i hope

If you had spotted a single simulation aspect in the whole last year I would be glad to eat my hat.
Show me an arcade aspect. One could argue the ultra detailed cockpits are a sign of simulation rather than arcade. Arcade you have all the info like speed, boost, points, power ups etc. on the HUD (in the literal sense, not a simulated HUD). you could then go a step further and say true arcade would have no need for a virtual cockpit at all, as third person view is preferred. All we have seen are screenshots without ANY gaming elements, what we read into them is another matter, hell they all could be interpreted as promotional renders and nothing more at this point.
Hey! where is Jim, have not see him posting today....did he get the beta testing job? Whistle.gif
Miss his posting too.... He always says something to make me laugh

Jim was working his real job arguing with kids about whether or not they were throwing papers around the classroom and so on, all day long.It is strange that I don't have anything for you Ben. It's the same people posting the same junk. I guess I need new material. Wonder when we will see new screenshots?Once I get that beta position I won't be able to tell you anyway per the NDA that we have used in the past.

I would love to see Jim put under an NDA. Let someone else deal with his snark.
Microsoft would just turn a deaf ear to him; of course it seems like they do that to everyone.

That biplane isn't Hawaiian colored.
What exactly is Hawaiian colored then ?

Good idea!
Am I fallen in a MS fan club site ?
If you didn't know that by now, at least you've learned something. Queue the "you don't know what's going to be in Flight, but it's going to be great, even though we haven't seen it." In 3... 2... 1...

It seems we live on different planets. In my planet, Alpha Centauri V, if there is no evidence of black then it's no black. If I see no black then it could be whatever color but black. In your planet, why if there is no black you deeply trust it's black ? You must be religious or a MS developer for sure, I am not both.

Ahaha... please... if there is no black (simulation) then you assume it's anything but black? There are no colours at all at this point except the ones you place on it. You are the one trusting it to be a certain colour, not I, I was just pointing out that there is no evidence of white (arcade) either. You didn't get that??? maybe you should take off those white coloured glasses ;)

Yuk, yuk, yuk. Microsoft has met me face to face and has taken in some of my suggestions.

See the above.
Don't worry, Microsoft has operated betas before and they know how to choose people and run a beta program. And betas are not used to gather people's wants.
I don't see how? I thought they would ask some questions but all they asked me was my windows live id and my gaming tag. If you look at my gaming tag it will tell you that when I owned an xbox for about one week I played a boxing game for about 30 minutes. None of that will tell you I have been simming for 26 years, I have developed some fsx tools etc. Now, if they had a closed beta I would get that. They would choose people who they know something about but a limited open beta that all they know about you is what xbox game you played? How can they choose the participants from that? Unless they are after the arcade crowd, or don't care if they get experienced simmers in the program.

I hope not, this forum would be a big bore if everyone here all agreed with everyone else...

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I agree with you .. or is it, I dont agree... whichever makes it more exciting LOL.gif
Am I fallen in a MS fan club site ?C'mon guys, the FSX ATC is ridiculous even for a lawnmower man.
It's actually decent considering how old the game is and I work traffic for a living. The phraseology isn't the best and it's outdated, but the procedures are generally correct for the USA. If you look at how it works, in general, it's really good - better than anything out there in any sim, even XP10 demo/beta. It definitly caters to IFR traffic, and lacks much of any substance for VFR traffic. But if you are a real pilot with instrument rating you'll look down at it every time. That's why I recommend Pilot Edge or vatsim...
