Alright, you heard the man (or the woman): "This is not a dating site." So, I'm out-of-here. LOL.gif -- I don't know what to say guys; I don't know what to say. However, as a wise man once told me: "Usually before the fall, there's huge amount of arrogance." Too bad, cause I have their product and it is a great product!

"We have met the enemy and he is us."I don't know why this quote just sprang to mind as I was reading through the posts on this thread.

And that's his point isn't it?...focus on the product...

Hey BillCan't agree with you there - if there is a dollar in it JV will be there obviously. It is his stated motive. No friends or dating on that site.

Yawn,Its business.....why all the worry about how they came off. There were pages and pages of people insulting them and threats flying before they even had a chance to read or respond. Every last one of you would have reacted the same way if you were being bashed for pages....If you don't like them, you don't have to support them....why start topics all over the net about them?

I was very close to preordering those recent releases, but something told me they might have a sale for this month so I decided to wait. So glad I did. Those guys over there do tend to overreact from time to time though when it comes to feedback though.

A bunch of you are missing the point. Sure, products go on sale all the time - including going on deeper sale. Nothing wrong with that. The problem is, ORBX aggressively promoted the prepay - said, buy by December 15 because after that, prices are going up. Then, less than two weeks later, they drop the 33 percent discount out there. That's bad customer relationship management. Then, JV posts messages that say, quit your whining, that's commerce, and by the way, we don't have a relationship with you, we just sell you a product. That's worse customer relationship management. I used to think highly of ORBX. I'm surprised and disappointed. A company that sells discretionary products might want to reconsider acting this way in th middle of a prolonged recession. At the end of the day, they get to do what they do, which is to set prices and policies I get to do what I do, which is to lower them in my estimation and become lesss eager to buy from them. That's all.

If you don't like them, you don't have to support them....why start topics all over the net about them?
Uh, because they shut down discussion on their own forums, where it belongs?

karma is a real ###### the saying is. what goes around will sooner or later comes around.I feel so sorry for the few good individuals at ORBX. must be a nightmare working for "THE" man
I say we put this behind us as an example of too much Christmas Cheer and other stuff so we don't know what we're doing. Can you imagine from their persecptive? They put a sale on and people ###### on them. OMG, that's not fair, so this is my final 2 bits worth, but good on them, and bad on all the avsim whining little girls that should be doing grade girl stuff in their little dresses.
What a lucid, intellectual, and well-thought-out argument. You've totally set me straight. I will now go purchase a second copy of every ORBX scenery to atone for my transgressions. :(

Its not about a BLOODY sale... its about the "HOW" they did it but then some will never understand but we need to love those few among us also..!!
And people wonder why PMDG doesn't do these sales... these kind of reactions are exactly why. If we'd put the NGX up at 25% off for Christmas or something like that, people from last August would have been sending in tickets like mad demanding refunds, let alone the people who bought it the day before the sale started, I can guarantee it. It happened when we reduced the 747's price after several years - people from years back were writing in asking for partial refunds. What other industry would people even dream of making a request like that in? If I buy a car and the model two years down the road is less money, do I roll up to the dealership demanding money?
With all due respect Ryan, the 2 situations you describe, are totally unrelated to that of the OP's situation. Expecting to honor a discount in those scenarios is completely unreasonable. In this case though Orbx offered a 15% discount weeks before if you ordered a product that was yet to be released, under the opus that if you wait the price will be higher (As all prerelease discounts by companies that offer them are based). Though I'm sure this wasn't their intention at the time, but because of the timing of the releases coincided with the X-mas sale, people who waited ended up getting an even bigger discount, People in this situation has every right to feel duped. In this case there was an implied expectation that wasn't honored. While unintentional, under these circumstances I think Orbx should have handled this better. If they didn't want to provide the extra discount, they could have not included the items in question in the sale, thereby preserving the discount, At this point though if nothing but to maintain good Customer relations, Orbx should honor the discount to those affected.

Thanks

Hi Naji,I can understand your frustration with ORBX. Here you have a customer who was willing to part with his/her hard earned cash up front with only a promise that a product will be released, and yes they make putting up the cash more enticing by offering a 15% discount. This in-turn helps ORBX with operating funds even though the product is not ready for release, this discount also infers that they will be getting a better deal by pre-ording than someone who does not support the company by waiting. Now you have someone who didn't support ORBX in good faith for a product that was not ready for release and they are treated with a 33% discount, sorry that's just WRONG no matter how you spin it!!!.So what do we learn from all this?. Well, I've learned not to support any third party company by offering up my hard earned cash until the product is ready and has been released. If you do, you may get burned by supporting such a company by supplying them with operating funds with nothing to show at the time of payment and then get a slap in the face from said company by paying more for their product. That's one heck of a way for a company to say thank's to the customer who supported them in good faith from the get-go with no product.

Cool. Or are you being sarcastic? I don't really care one way or the other, I'm good both ways lol. But it would be cool if we could get some on ORBX's team. Not that I work for them, but I sympathize. You guys are a hard crowd....what he said
Definitely sarcastic, lol. But going back to what you said earlier "just enjoy the scenery", well, I'm enjoying NZSI right now in the Aerosoft OV-10 Bronco, which, ironically, also went on sale shortly after I purchased it. In all honesty, I'm not going to put Orbx on my "enemies list" that I keep in my Hello Kitty trapper keeper, boycott them, or anything like that. I have certainly not made my final purchase from them, but I will no longer be reaching for my wallet the moment one of their sceneries hits the market. I will have to determine if each of their products is a sound investment before purchasing. No emotion, just business.
