January 1, 201214 yr Author Indeed the A318 has that special mode that permits to fly 5.5deg ILS app. Could a B737-600 theoretically land at EGLC ? Edited January 1, 201214 yr by fulcrum_64th
January 1, 201214 yr Indeed the A318 has that special mode that permits to fly 5.5deg ILS app. Could a B737-600 theoretically land at EGLC ?If almost empty, it will do it flawlessly. But if you have a ''normal'' load, you'll probably need the speedbrakes. Edited January 1, 201214 yr by nikita
January 1, 201214 yr The "Special Config" I believe is the ability to do the approach with a little speed brake extended. Patrick Houghton
January 1, 201214 yr I live at the end of the field in canary wharf so they fly over me directly. Mosty BAe 146, embraers, and the 318:) Not that exciting of a feild to live next to. Wish they had NG's out of it. Edited January 1, 201214 yr by simon747 Simon
January 1, 201214 yr 737 with the shortfield package? Although i'm not sure how much of a difference that makes, probably not as much as the French Airbuses.I'd place bets that if BA started replacing their 734s with 736s they'd take them out of there, the higher rate CFMs (22k thrust rating?) would easily get a 736 off that runway with a full-ish load. Then again being me i've changed my mind, i'd rather BA replace their entire regional fleet with E-jets. Pardon my french but those jets have a sexy interior design!Edit: Just realised I went way off track with that. I think the 736, perhaps a 737 if you want to push your luck has the guts to land there! And what's this special config for the A318?Hi Nikita, see that article for the A318 steep app modhttp://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/a318-makes-mark-at-london-city-206788/BestKarim

January 2, 201214 yr I believe Boeing did the certify the BBJ to go into LCY. Well before the Airbus project, but I don't think any airliner NGs use the modification. I seem to remember something about it, but can't find any info on it.

January 2, 201214 yr Had a go at this into rwy 27 last night in the -600. Quite fun, and the A/P handled the GS very well. Came in light at 122 Vref+5 so there was plenty of runway without having to use maximum AutoBrakes - notch 2 or 3 should do it for you. January 3, 201214 yr Gonna try a departure today.Easy t/o on rwy 27 to EHAM in the -600. Flaps 10, engines spooled to 40% N1 with brakes on, no problem reaching 116 Vr. The Clacton7T departure over the city is beautiful with a really nice view of EGLC out the right window from 3000'. Most definitely a fun airport. January 3, 201214 yr Doesn't British Airways operate Boeing 757s out of New York-JFK? i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
January 3, 201214 yr Doesn't British Airways operate Boeing 757s out of New York-JFK?Yup, and Continited is now doing 757-200s over many european routes. Of course in the winter almost always there's a fuel stop in Gander on the way back!
