Is Aerosoft still making a sim too?Hope so now Flight is going to fail.
Actually, Aerosoft firmly believe FSX owns 2012 but XPX will eventually overtake it in the near future. This does not mean they have given up on a new flight simulator. It's a smart move on their part. There's no rush to kill their moneymakers.

What a load of bloody tosh! Bring on Prepar3d. I'm rather glad to be honest. This has actually meant I no longer will have to worry about the two grands worth of addons I've invested in going awol. I'm also quite pleased that XP10 is a world of 'plausable' scenery 'cos that's not I want. So all problems have now been resolved :( The decision has been made for me. I'll stick with FSX until all addons have been coded for Prepar3d and then make the move slowly across,... mmm... I like the sound of that :(
Then Prepar3d must become really good in the future. If not I'll choose the cheaper option; stay with FSX and enjoy the free Flight Hawaii :(

Cheers, Bert

I wouldn't be so sure..
Why not? They've been talking about it since 2009 i think? Nothing tangible has happened since. They may still do something, but all i'm saying is: don't wait for it if you want to be able to fly your new sim before 2050. I mean if a little company like Ikarus can come up with a really cool looking sim in a relatively short time, then what could a team a talented, dedicated and experienced simheads come up with?

I dread to think what it would be like if they released the entire Earth as DLC, the graphics quality of Hawaii is dire (a fractional improvement upon FSX in some areas ~ buildings, and a regression in other areas ~ water, ground textures), so if they put that little effort into creating a small island like Hawaii, just imagine the quality of large continents like US, Africa, and Australia. It's quite clear MS have been lazy with Flight, by trying to do as little work as possible yet raking in as much money as possible, and I'm certainly not going to fall for it. I pity those that do.

"what we got here is a failure to communicate"What a way to miss the mark.Cheers,MAB

I doubt it Bert,Here is an excerpt from an article, "The game will feature it’s own marketplace, with content regulated by Microsoft. There will be no scenery development kit and hence no user created content."
Yeah. That's a bummer...

Why not?
payt,I'm just saying they haven't given up on this idea. Certainly at this moment in time, fly whatever you own and enjoy it. I agree Ikarus looks very good.
OK, now all developpers, it's time to go Xplane 10.....
If there is a God...please make the PMDG-team consider X-plane as the future platform for their fantastic products !

So they will give away the demo with Hawaii and to get the rest of the world we would have to pay for it. How come everybody are crying like babies lol?
Because they are spoiled kids, they want it all right here right now costing almost no money. A lot of casual gamers will buy the addons and pay for the hardcore simmers precious simulator, it wouldnt be possible at all if MS didnt bring the gamers in to FLIGHT. I dont know why the hardcore simmers even care there is a gaming aspect in this, its not like they have to fly with them or do any of the missions.

Bernt,Have you had a look at this?http://www.ixeg.net/

I hope we will see developers like ORBX turning to support Prepar3D. Why I think this is the best option for FSX pilots? Because they are practically the same program (at least for now) and I think if not most, then many of the FSX-addons are pretty easily patched to P3D and that may save us a big buck at least for starters if developers choose to offer free/affordable P3D updates. Developing for them should be equally hard/easy depenfing on how you look at it. I think we really need to start asking our favorite devs to start looking in P3D direction. There really is potential in P3D already, even in its current state as for example this video shows. To me, it seems to work better than FSX, at least textures are loading without blurring. And that is already a big leap :(

I am highly, highly disappointed.....microsoft can do better then that. Looks like I am sticking with FSX until someone develops a flightsim at PMDG standards.
I don't think so !!!Fred.

Yes they could. There are many same talented guys from ACES in Flight team, so I believe they would probably have achieved same open structure and more modern game engine that has been typical for the series. This decision smells of marketing and business people to sky high. These a-holes see this kind of model to bring paying customers and steady cash flow from the addon market previously untouchable by MS. I really feel sad for the dev team with many former ACES-guys in it for the stupid decisions of people, who don't know anything about flightsims.

Thats true. Anyone who knows something about aviation and flight simulators generally would understand that trying to attract mainstream gamers to peaceful flight simulator with no shooting other planes will never work.
