10.31r1 is out!
Might be, Michel. Altough my CTDs mostly occur when using Carenados C90B or the B1900D (my rig has a hard time running especially that one) I really could use a state of the art gpu, I guess I reckon lack of vRAM is why I have the occasional fps-plunges every 30-60 second when flying the before mentioned aircrafts(?) Hmmm, it might be placebo (…) but it seems to run a nudge smoother !

10.31r1 is out!
And to get right back on track, here's one I welcome from the latest 10.31r: Saving a situation with the avionics power switch off now correctly restores without failing all avionics equipmentI also experienced trouble recovering (avionics, AP, FD) after CTD, and hopefully this has gotten better. Testing testing.. Bernt

10.31r1 is out!
And its that reference showing up every now and then. I read in another typical endless debate on ground-handling in X-Plane, a bunch of users aired their frustration trying their best to understand and explain the scientific level of programming behind it all.. And one of them just cut through saying sometimes he gets tired of all the tweaking and understanding, and just wanna fire up something that "seems to work right out of the box" (referring to DCS) Furthermore adding "I dont know what the guys over there are doing but it just feels right" Flying some of the models offered by the DCS-world one has to admit there is feeling of realistic flavour to movement, inertia, handling etc. (Despite few of us has ever been behind the controls of a A-10 flying) It manages to convince nonetheless. Would love to see some of that high-fidelity flight model-programming in X-plane, and so does many DCS users if you read various DCS-forums. But doing comparison on a broader scale might be unfair as they are totally different approaches to the flying experience. Sorry for bringing this post way off, but to my knowledge you wont find any commercial airliner models within DCS. regards Bernt Michael

Heck! The guys over at DCS will be flying saucers before weather gets justified in X-Plane ^_^ Bernt Michael

What are your X-wishes for 2014?
With regards to ATC, weather, AI, seasonal textures and a more clean/logical user interface - make it a bit more like FSX/Prepar3d - ONLY better! X-Plane has the potential to do this better or more realistic, in my view. Unfortunately these are some of the key factors keeping the majority of flightsimmers tied to FSX and lately Prepar3d. I have been a simmer since 1982, most of the time "flying for Microsoft". Honestly I have to admit the most realistic flying experience, from a desktop perspective has been with X-Plane. When XP also offers immersion, realism and ATC/AI out of the box it will be hard to compete against.

Landing View
You need a program that allows you to set new camera definitions. I only know of EZdok. Its a payware program developed some time ago, and support is almost 0. But personally I could not live without it, especially with the NGX. Then you can make as many new camera views you like and make keyboard shortcuts to switch views. I have one especially for landings, its a HUD zoom. Good luck!

anti collision lights
Hi, if you are referring to strobes they dont flash while airborne. You can see the "bulb" flashing as a small white dot placed at the wingtip, but you will not see the flash-effect. I guess PMDG modelled it this way not to disturb you while flying the aircraft and the fact that strobes are mostly visible due to reflecting off ground and/or surroundings. The effect is very accurate on ground, those powerfull strobes will illuminate the ground (and in real life surroundings) I whish though, that the effect could be turned on while flying through clouds or fog. But I dont know if FSX "is aware" wether or not your AC is in or outside a cloud ;-) If my memory serves me right, I believe FS5 had that ability..the grey wall that resembled clouds flashed as you passed through it with your strobes turned on. As for anti-collision lights they reflect off the fuselage and engine covers/inlet. best regards

FO jumps/bypasses checklist item
Hi, During "Before Start Checklist" my FO consequently rushes from checklist item CDU Preflight to the next Rudder and Aileron Trim without pause. This has been going on for a week now, it did not start after the last update but some while after. Besides this little quirk my FS2Crew works like a swiss clock. I have also been using EZDok and OpusFSX alongside appearantly without problems before this phenomena started. regards

Cure for flashing when changing views in NGX
Hi, Howard. To me this looks like keyboard shortcut-conflicts. To be more precise; your EZDok "next-view" is in conflict with another internal FSX shortcut. I had the same flicker as seen in your video. Making sure I did not have multiple assignments to keyboard shortcuts resolved the issue in my case. I see from your cfg you do run EZDok. Good luck! PS, and sorry - I see someone has already mentioned ezdok.

Acars
Agree! I could easily settle with ACARS just drawing info from AS, or RealWX. Real world metar sometimes differ from NOAA, VATSIM or whatever, so you just can't google the weather at your destination. And yes, I like my FSX NGX in fullscreen (RealWx stays neatly in the background :-) best regards

External power option (request for)
Great! Thankyou, Markus.

External power option (request for)
Hi, I guess most of you would like to have your AC powered while on ground without draining the battery. I was hoping for some kind of added value to the modeled switch in the C90, - I mean, why make the switch work but without its proper function? Does anyone know if this feature has been mentioned from Carenado ? best regards

EZDOK Users
EZDok is a must, and I especially enjoy getting around my NGX cockpit way better and gracefully than before. But Im really struggling to set up the effect generators, this is heavy duty. I hope some genious would come up with the right settings to share with all of us NGX heads. But before that happens it would be of great help if the developers shared some more knowledge and created setups for the major addons people prefer. Other than that I really hope v1.18 incorporate vibrations based upon rpm. Imagine having the camera increase vibration as your engines come to life and furthermore everytime you drive that N1 to takeoff-thrust :yahoo: cheers

how many frames do you get, and what are you running?
Mostly my FPS pleases me considering I have UT2 running at 100% traffic. At larger busy airports (e.g. EGLL from Aerosoft) things can slow to about 10-20 FPS.At smaller airports I get 20-40 and on cruise (fair weather) I normally see from 40-70 FPS. I only fly VC. No overclocking. Most slider to the right but a few changes to config. Spec in sign.regards

SP1C - Ouch! (Graphics problem)
With the latest Catalyst 12.3 I had similar issues, except my whole screen turned black (audio kept running). So I reverted back to previous drivers.Good luck!

PMDG 737NGX SP1 Available
Hi, after SP1c I suddenly have mid-air freezes. Just a hunch, but I suspect my FsRealWx or my UT2 service being the cause of it. My guess is somekind of conflict in the fsuipc or simconnect related to weather update. But I cannot guarrantee on that.Additionally I also experience from time time that the FD/AP stops controllng the aircraft and does not respond to any command input. My NGX has worked flawlessly for months running the above software, prior to the last update,Hope someone can shed some light on these kind of problems.regards

Great News Guys !
I really just don't get it.From what I've seen and read officially from Microsoft regarding the features in Flight it would seem like a miracle if this software will make money at all. Not for a multi-million dollar company anyway. What makes Microsoft confident that the gaming audience would after flying through all the hula-hoops in Hawaii crave to do it all over again in Dallas, in Sidney, - or over Innsbruck for that sake ?! I can hardly imagine players fancying this kind of easy desktop entertainment actually paying for additional material. They move on to the next "fast-food title" when they are satisfied, they do not build customer relationships. It would be a totally different situation if Flight was instead a traditionally addictive title like Farmville, The Sims, WoW, Battlefield or even World of Tanks to mention a few. But it isn't - its a plane flying over some static scenery, only fractured by some linear missions. How hooked can you get ? And by excluding the masses of productive 3d-party developers they completely trust in some kind of factor I myself at this point fail to reveal. To stand a chance Microsoft should at least have the rest of the world done in great detail ready for purchase by now. Waiting for additional scenery and missions seem to be just another nail in the coffin...The OP might have a valid point, - if Flight turns out to be something else rather than what they have shown us and told us on their official website.regards :(

My thoughts after purchasing XP10
Here' my rant :-)Actually I used XP 9 for quite some time and had great moments in the commercial MU-2 - a really well done model and just shows the nice potential in the XP-engine. But after a while I ran back to FSX, not just for the bigger range of add ons but it feels more like a complete piece of software. I have been flying in the full version of XP10 for a week now and honestly don't feel like shouting hallelujah. The exaggerated wind/turbulence often forces me to use "clear-skies" settings instead of real weather. The lack of at least one quality default aircraft had me trawling the net for alternatives just after a couple of hours. Seeing the AI traffic struggling on almost every airport I've witnessed gives the impression of an unfinished product. Airports look unfamiliar and deserted without buildings. Runways are some places curved at strange and drastic angles to follow terrain, and why is it difficult to tell XP - in code that trees don't grow on runways ?To quote a lot of people already; first impression goes a long way. And for the majority looking for a simulator experience on a desktop the XP series never seem to quite catch them all on fire. I was really hoping XP10 would blow me away, which it literally did ;-) but besides the exaggerated winds it failed to impress me much. And you really cant hide behind explanations such as low developer budget and minor staff etc when you charge the buyer commercially rated prices for each release. My own salvage is that I am a patient man; so I will continue the use the XP10 and hoping for small and major updates and changes in the future. But I'm afraid the bigger audience will drop out, and they are the ones who could finance XP in the long run making it perhaps superior to competitors.Happy flying!

Superb Performance with ATI
Hmmm, what happened now !? Im used to enjoy nice fps (20+) even in my PMDG NGX at Heathrow Mega Airport with UT2 set to 90% traffic. Got curious and tried your settings, Steve and my fps dropped to about 7-8.Naturally I switched back but my fps stays low. Tried numerous settings but it remains low. Uninstalled CCC and related drivers, then reinstalled with updated drivers, but - still low fps.. Tried deleting fsx.cfg and let the program generate a new one, still low fps.Changed to default Cessna at a smaller airport, I can see my fps fluctuates between 170 fps to 3-4, meaning major stutters.Anyone got a clue of what might have happened ?thanks,

engine sound at altitude
Agree. And I guess most of us do, right? Myself being a sound geek Wind noise is basicly all you hear in an airliner over certain speeds, especially during cruise. I've experienced this from jumpseats in various 737s, 757s and I might add; from the righthand seat of the Beechcraft 200. Some flightsim add-ons from the past actually got that part right. (but indeed lacked the endless stream of marvellous and realistic features the PMDG NGX offers, including a very detailed and spot-on soundset) If my memory serves me right, the Maddog2006 had the "right feel" soundwise at cruise speeds. And there was no trick to it - the wind noise just escalated as the knots rised. I guess one can adjust this in the sound.cfg of any MS aircraft. But the engine levels will still be there giving that GRRR an audible level. And the NGX does sound right when you e.g. leave cruise and decrease thrust, you should hear the engine rpm dropping giving a low rumble downward pitch, especially if you have a subwoofer connected.regards
