Some thoughts on Flight...

Featured Replies

MS flight is nothing more than a video game, even a three year old can play it quite well. There is nothing like simulator in it, even visuals ain't as good as orbx, rex or PMDG. Surely, no one would be interested in it. FSX rules and will rule infinitely. Looking forward to PMDG 777!
LOL Funny how some people think their views are of course and obviously everyone's views... :( Anyway, FSX also is nothing more than a video game that even a three year old can play (and BTW quite funny that this is posted by someone who has a photo of a kid flying a plane as avatar LOL!). Even you acknowledge that FSX is poor out of the box by mentioning Orbx, REX and PMDG... :(

I checked out the beta twice. The first time I went...eww. Then I waited a couple days and went...eww. I had hopes for it, but the whole gizmo on the top of the screen (compass, airspeed and all that) really disappointed me. It truly is an arcade game. There may be workarounds, so there may still be hope..but we'll see.

Well, turn it off then. Simple. You don't fly in FSX with all aids etc on do you? So why should you in MSF. :(

Put a 3 year old in front of the NGX with a yoke, throttle, and rudder pedal setup.See how well he does.Yeah, thought so!

Graphics doesn't look bad at all, especially when it runs smooth 60fps with vsync enabled at highest graphics settings. I like theintuitive checklist and the ICON is a very nice aircraft, though it isn't very practical cause the lack of basic instruments. But Microsoft Flight doesn't have as near as muchfeatures as it's predecessor

Sigh... I was talking about FSX, not addons... Obviously you have to compare MS Flight with FSX out of the box and not FSX plus REX and Orbx and PMDG etc. etc.

You can and probably should compare flight with fsx+addons, as that's what pretty much all serious simmers ar flying in 2012. Why compare it with vanilla fsx if we were never going to fly it?Flight holde its own well. The graphics down low, including landing, are far better than anything i've seen in fsx. Some of the good payware has mor detail but it looks relatively crap due to the aging engine. Flight autogen looks solid, much better than fsx. I fly with a 40 inch monitor, which really shows fsx's warts. Just done 6 hours of flight and find it hard to imagine flying fsx+addons for ga again (i'm sure i will, for my trak ir fix and a bit of different geography...but will miss the smoothness of flight).

Sim Rig: MSI RTX3090 Suprim, an old, partly-melted Intel 9900K @ 5GHz+, Honeycomb Alpha, Thrustmaster TPR Rudder, Warthog HOTAS, Reverb G2, Prosim 737 cockpit.

Currently flying: MSFS: PMDG 737-700, Fenix A320, Leonardo MD-82, MIlviz C310, Flysimware C414AW, DC Concorde, Carenado C337. Prepar3d v5: PMDG 737/747/777.

"There are three simple rules for making a smooth landing. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are."

Will probably download and install it just for grins.....

Because it's not a fair comparison. We can't really compare MS Flight with FSX in its current state until there is more DLC and we now where we are going with it. FSX out of the box wasn't much: some also think MS Flight 'out of the box' isn't much. Saying FSX is better because it has a PMDG 737NGX isn't fair, or course, because that plane isn't FSX.

Why?Flight doesn't have PMDG addons or support, so why can't I compare what I have to Flight which doesn't have any of my addons?I'm not even sure what we're arguing about anymore.

Flight is literally less than 24 hours old. you cant compare it to any addons because none have been made!! lets be fair. compare fsx to flight with 0 addons for now. when PMDG and everyone else start releasing realistic aircraft and airports and weather engines, then we will really see which is better, but we will have to wait a few months for that.
