21 consecutive years of service working in procurement of non-standard equipment through acquisition, contracting etc has taught me a little about things like this. I really never thought that LM was the future of the consumer based flight simulation enthusiast crowd. They are a corporate giant and we are no more their target market than it appears we are to MS now. I really think or predict that we will see support for FSX over the next few years then a continuous migration over to XP as it comes into its own by both users and developers alike.

Yes, I'm sure LM is dying to pay Orbx big bucks for accurate house placement and walking people in Australia for just a training platform, if that's truly who'll they'll limit sales to.And I'm the one that needs to wake up? The consumer market is as stable as it was a week ago for Orbx. It's probably even more so now that they don't have to develop for a new simulator or worry about it taking their player base. You guys can be all doom and gloom if you'd like. There's no reason to be except simplistic idle speculation that's actually mostly been countered by LM themselves, but hey, whatever you guys want. The XP10 forum is a ways down.We get your motivations here. Let it go.
I have no motivations other than providing an opinion that does not necessarily align with yours.LM will do with P3D as it pleases and if Orbx can get in on the action then it only makes sense that they would. I also agree people or nature flow is not something that LM would be interested in. What they would certainly be interested in is providing high fidelity scenery to their customers. It's certainly not a doom and gloom scenario there are several good years left in FSX and companies like Aerosoft, Orbx, and PMDG will continue to develop for it while they align themselves with the platform they choose to support, no matter what that is; us the enthusiasts will follow.I would love to see LM fully exploit the limits of P3D while continuing to support us consumer enthusiasts, lord knows I have way too many FSX add ons that I would hate to part with. Also for the record, I don't own a copy of XP I have not tried the demo and I'm really not a fan but like I said above, it currently is the only viable consumer based simulation platform available and I do think you will see a migration to it over the next couple of years by developers and end-users alike.

Thanks Tom for that very interesting post. All of the RW pilots that I communicate with are looking at P3D as the platform of choice, because it is Alive and being developed.PM are also using P3D for their "Boeing Suite".Fred.

You guys are so transparent.
Speaking of being so transparent, why do you guys get so angry with any mention of XP10? It seems to be a strong case of displacement..you take your frustrations and let downs with your MS pride out on XP users offering simple opinions and options.

This forum is no different when stuff like this happens. Someone always wants to rain on someones parade.

I doubt that it has anything to do with XPX, thats not the conversation. You can try that one out in another place. Who minds if someone says XPX is an option. the point is the doom and gloom you are trying to place on P3d.

doom and gloom?..what are you taking about? I have never, nor have anyone else, tried to rain on you little MS pity part.P3D looks like an interesting development...so does XP10. Why can't you you understate that both have strengths, weaknesses, and suite eveyones likes differently? If you like FSX PMDG..great! If you like XP Carenado..great! Why the attitude?

As I have read through the many postings and speculation regarding LMOC's intentions, and their license, I had to laugh at a few. I did say earlier that LMOC, Raytheon, NGC, Boeing, L3, etc., have more lawyers than Business Development folks. I was not exaggerating. I can't speak for John's team of course, but I would be willing to bet that their contract with Microsoft was gone through with a fine tooth comb over weeks, if not months, before LMOC executed it.Relax folks... Lockheed has their ducks lined up and there is no grand conspiracy... Having this fantastic community of simulation expertise at AVSIM is something that you should be proud of. You should also be particularly proud that the guys of LMOC recognize it.
That's refreshing and appreciated; thank you

Relax man it's only my opinion I most certainly not an XP ######; I don't believe I have ever posted in their forum nor do I have any secret agenda. Moreover, I register on the P3D forum and have followed along from time to time I simply have not given it serious consideration because it still does not support certain elements/ programs I personally find important enough to not want to do without; yetI'll do what most everyone else will end up doing, enjoying FSX while waiting until the right choice for me/them is clear and not look back.

Have you got me confused with someone else? I have not called xplane a 'pity party', I have not said one sim for all in here? Where the heck are you getting your information about me from? I have my full name on the forum and the majority of my posts at avsim are in the xplane forum since I bought it. I look forward to p3d as well, which I subscribed to - to go along with the other four sims I play. I am not in the forums telling the people who want to try p3d that it will be pulled from under their feet. They have said it once, no point making a debate about it. Gloat later if you feel the need.

Um, if you mean PMDG, then that's wrong... they just posted in their forum and I cross posted here telling everyone they are not going with P3D due to the current license scheme LM has in place...

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

It does make me wonder why LM has been inviting everyone into the pool except PMDG? According to PMDG they had been reaching out to LM for the past year and gave up because they were ignored and stopped trying to make contact in September. Its just weird, maybe it was due to licensing but from what I read it sounded more like a stiff arm.Won't repeat what he said about XP for fear of being being unjustly chastised as a XP ######.Wow, It's certainly entertaining reading all of the insider information being posted now that some of the NDA have lifted; get a bag of popcorn and a cold one it's better than reality TV that's for sure.
