Apparently they did the next best thing...talked to them for a while, learned what secrets they could and then shut them out.Very classy.
I'm sure the developers were clever enough to see any trap that was prepared and to walk away. Orbx lifted the lid on that.I know some people criticised Bill Gates but he never really put a foot wrong on FS when he was in charge. The only criticism that could be levelled at FS was the need for a faster processor that the fastest one available. I don't have that problem now so it would need to be something special to lure me away from FS9 now with FSX in a year or so. Trying to flog me a game which requires me to constantly put my hand in my pocket isn't something I'm prepared to do as are many here.

Is anyone now totally confused as to what the HELL is going on with Flight in terms of the value of its content? I am.

We have no idea about future content, but what we do know about is free. That's about how much its worth.

It's still in BETA (or even Alpha), so despite all the tester who are breaking the NDA (what is with THAT anyway . . . doesn't anyone's word mean anything anymore???), no one here knows what Flight will turn out like. You can either view what we know as a half-empty simulator, or you can view it as a half-full (unfinished) simulator.I'm an optimist, so I'm going with the latter.

Hey I like FSX too, I just think that its severely unstable program which should be updated by M$ to stop crashing.Actually I do not even own X plane 10.
LOL that is funny that you immeadiately deduced I was talking about you... touche'

The fact is that no one knows what the final release will look like besides Microsoft. Chances are it will be good. Very good. So anyone looking to continue the flame war should think twice.
i wish I can believe this. but I would really have expected a portion in the initial press release feeding us 'hardcore' simmers since they were adressing us in their FAQ. and now latest something at CES but judging from the booth videos they just stick with golden rings and arcade game style. too sad.

again, would love to believe that. but what does MS marketing do then? see all these negative posts in their blog and on FB? what a desaster this must be. and they could so easily stop it by adressing the simming aspect...

Actually I do not even own X plane 10.
LOL What?! So you have "X plane 10 - The future of Flight Simulation." in your signature, you're literally bashing Microsoft in your avatar yet you use and like FSX and don't even own X plane? Curious...

Ahhh come on, this is what "fun" is before sdk's, etc. I've been flying flight sims before MS even "bought" the code (from SubLogic), and I remember getting files from compuserve and other places. SDK's or not, "they" hacked it back then, they'll hack it again "provided flight is good enough to hack".Not only that, but after someone can hack the code and build a freeware plane, they can make a plane so fast and powerful that it can BUST right out of the Hawaii bubble and out into the "real virtual world"...kind of like blasting the space shuttle out of the earth's atmosphere... How exciting!

and about how much will flight be to get the world available i wont even wory about it . in betwen FS9 and FSX i have more money spent than in my truck........

To be fair, the beta testers aren't saying anything that contradicts Microsoft's own press releases.

That isn't the point. They are still breaking their agreement with Microsoft. The NDA was pretty specific.I don't have respect for people who don't keep their word. I feel that a number of people even signed up to beta test, intending to break the NDA as soon as they had enough news/videos to post.

I was responding to your statement that "no one here knows what Flight will turn out like." Based on the fact that beta tester reports have confirmed Microsoft's own statements, I think we all have a reasonably good idea.

I don't think that's true. I've been around the community since 1996 and have known over the years people take this very seriously. During the FSX beta everyone kept strict silence about the project. What's happening here is madness and people are ###### about it. Microsoft is taking a franchise that has lasted as long as the company has been in existence (pre-Windows) and ruining it. Their taking a complex piece of software, gutting it, dumbing it down, and making a silly gimmick out of it. I used this software for real world training, I hate to see it end up like this. This turn of events hurts all who love simulation because there's really nothing out there to fully replace it. You can't blame people for speaking up.

FS2020

Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

And the beta testers who have supposedly confirmed things, are ONLY the beta testers who don't have enough character to keep their word, so why would I believe what they say?You may have "a reasonably good idea" of what the current Alpha of Flight is like. The released product could end up containing quite a bit more content. We just don't know.
