Hello everybody ..I even don't know, am I new to this forum..?? I do already have a profile picture here, it's even the same as it (still) is on the orbx forum ....Just some thoughts on this ..I didn't notice all the bans from orbx forums, until a friend told me so .. well, yeah the word spreads like a bushfire.On one hand I am shocked, and I feel very disappointed, I always loved doing the videos for orbx, their work on the sceneries is amazing, and I got the sceneries for free, which I appreciate and agreed upon. But don't let us forget, orbx got first class advertising for their product for free, too .. For FS products, there simply is no better advertising, than a promo video or review video. And it is sad to see, how long term supporterts and customers are being treated.On the other hand, I don't expect orbx to be my friend, and that's indeed what orbx officials clearly state, I guess. When it comes that Mr Venema needs a video to promote his product, he will get one. If he likes it, fine. And if not, that's fine, too ...(example given) If I want to put a Tecnam Sierra into orbx scenery for an unofficial orbx promo video, then I don't care if that's ok with him, and his Lancair, and I will do so without even asking ... as long as he does not pay for the video. As soon as he's willing to pay my efforts and talent, he will be King, and can order a video, customized at his needs. If needed even with a female sexy voice-over, praising the product.The same counts vice versa. If I buy a product, then I can expect to get support, if something does not work as announced. I don't know exactly the "global rights", but in Germany, if I don't get support for a "broken" or not properly functioning product, I claim my money back. And it's my damn right to get support or the money back.This is a purely business related thing. No friendship wanted, nor required ...And still... there is an other way. The other way would be, so simple as it is, communicate kindly..! Talk to people just as you want people to talk to you ..Deleting posts, without even a warning, or a personal note, is definately the wrong way, and I've experienced the kind way as always to be better ..(example given) orbx officials don't want me to use a Tecnam Sierra in the (unpaid) promo-video..? Fine, if they kindly ask me to not use it, as it's an competing product, I can do that favor ...!so simple is that ...

oh well.. I don't know if I am understood right ..my english .. well ... not really at its best ... :pardon:we have a saying in Germany ... the way you shout in the forest, the same way the forest echoes out your shout ...I hope this all turns out good .. I love using orbx products, and I surely hope they will be able to keep on creating the sceneries, it's not all bad in the forums and I faced some good support there, too... At my place everything worked just fine with orbx products, and I (almost) never needed any support, so far ...I am just posting the purely orbx related videos there, and that's it .. One or two posts of mine have been deleted, they weren't within the terms of forum rules, but I got messaged by orbx officials, (at least in one case).So, I can't complain .. ... the more sadly it is, to see others have different experiences, and got deleted with no reason.Now I am scared in a way ... checking every few minutes whether I already got deleted or not ...

Haven't been banned but <Edited by Mod> after I aired a comment on his business strategy a few years back. Alas, as has been stated it's his products, his forum and his decision on how they should be managed. With products the likes of NZSI he can call me whatever he likes, I'll still buy.*Took out a non family friendly term and the mention of individual using it.

Hm, I wouldn't start posting contents of private messages on a public forum... I could post two words JV PM'd to me, but I won't, not because it might harm JV's image but 1. because this forum is open to all ages :( but mainly because 2. I want people to trust me when they say something to me in private... And well, 3. I think it's just not done.

PM's should also NOT be used for a tirade of abusive language simply because its 'Private'.If someone did that to me then I would make an issue out of it, especially if it is a representative of a company.

As you probably all know by now after reading JV's post here... http://forum.avsim.n...out-of-the-bag/ he gave me some info on Flight well over 16 month ago, he was not the only one to do so as I stated in other post I've made, only 5% of what I knew and know came from him, I always said that I would never revealed my sources and I did not and will not ever because I gave my word, but when one his welling to tell on himself what can you do......Ateh1 made some good point, their business their way, it is true that one can manage his business as they see fit and that is why I am not buying their products anymore as long as they will treat their customers like that (and because of other stuff not released yet).If making peoples pre-pay for upcoming products to have the same products in a Christmas sale cheaper a week or two later is good practice business (don't care if they have not made any promises) I think I'll keep doing business the way I'm doing it right now, I don't have to censor any of my customers, to each his own but I can assure you that nothing is for ever....

I know Alain, I think, with respect to JV, he didn't handle the thing as well as he should have. If that had been me, I would have questioned my decision and maybe made some small concession to reduce collateral damage. I can see JV's position, but then again I would have been an extremely p****d customer had a sunk a lot of hard earned money and then found they were all on sale a few days later. I guess nothing in life is simple :(

Could be, I don't know, I don't come there anymore.

I think most developer forums die down after everyone who was going to buy a product has bought it and got a bit bored with it. There are some developers forums I vist from time to time, mentioning no names, and there are still posts on the front page from nearly a year ago - I think it happens to all of them until something amazing is released and then it might pick up again for a while and then die down again. These things, like developers themselves, come and go - something that was amazing yesterday becomes standard tomorrow.

just seems like the whole forum has changed and people don't seem to be as excited to post screenshots, info about new planes etc. kind of noticed it when they started banning screenshots containing non-orbx addons. and now with this attitude of "we're always right" seems like people have even less interest of contributing there. they just don't seem to have the community feel that they tried to show before when they had so much excitement building up for the PNW release. for example i rushed out to buy the "Limited Edition" PNW CD and yet the CD is still being produced. to some extent i feel bad for the developers under their employ who have to comply with these more rigid policies as well.i think in the flightsim business, having community support makes such a big difference and the excitement from the community generates the interest for new products.haha that being said i'll still buy their stuff if it makes sense for me. PCAviator was selling CRM at 30% off and PFJ is now 35% for a boxed copy.

What I think is the silly part in all of this is the banned or restricted use of their forum (not that I need to post over there anyway), seriously, somebody who want to have access to their forum just to see what's going on can do it by going to a friend house using his or her computer and create another account or go to any library....

Now JV has banned any announcements of new flight sim products from other companies. I don't understand this decision at all. Surely it would be in Orbx's interests to promote traffic to their website? More traffic must mean more sales. I don't see how discussion of a new weather engine, for example, can harm Orbx's sales. It is now quite pointless to visit the website at all unless for support for Orbx products. Perhaps that was JV's intention?Cheers,Noel.
