Shane,"Yes, not sure what is so difficult to accept about the fact that FSX is a 32-bit application and therefore can only address a maximum of 4GB of memory. In my stated situation, the memory demand hit this limit and caused an out of memory error."Your PC is telling you that you have a problem ... FSX being a 32 bit program runs just fine and is not causing your problem.
I disagree. Do a search about FSX memory usage as well as one one on out of memory issues and you will find a wealth of information about this topic. As I said, it was a one time thing. I know my PC is fine as it is very high quality, stable, and has great performance. These links explain it quite well:http://blogs.msdn.co...ress-space.aspxSee post #2 and the following discussion in this thread:http://forum.avsim.n..._1#entry2252149

Shane,"In my stated situation, the memory demand hit this limit and caused an out of memory error."I agree. All 32 bit applications (not just FSX) have to be running within normal memory usage specifications. If you reach the "limit" I would expect an error message from the OS.I would assume the default FSX 32 bit program (aircraft, scenery, weather) would not cause OS OMM.

The primary issue is that Prepar3d is not a consumer platform. It will never be a consumer platform. This being the case- its adoption by the mass market is highly unlikely- and that means that it is not the platform PMDG will base our development future upon.
Hello Robert,In your post you made a clear commitment to the consumer market which is very much appreciated. In the manual "PMDG 737NGX Introduction and Use" I found following statement:"Our goal is to allow hardware manufacturers to create their own drivers sothat the hardware can be made compatible with our software, however sowith the PMDG 737NGX we are going to be releasing to them an SDKthat will allow hardware manufacturers to independently create drivers toensure the highest degree of compatibility. The only restriction that we place on hardware developers is that thesedrivers must be provided at no cost to their customers. This SDK may notbe available at release time but it will be made available a short time laterto interested, known hardware developers!"So here my question:Will this SDK also be available for your customers, who purchased the 737 NGXor will this only be available for commercial suppliers of hardware like GoFlight, CPFlight, VRi, OC, Flyengravity, etc.... ?Do I need to wait until these suppliers provide me a gateway / driver .....or will I become able to write my own scripts based on Lua or SIOC so that I can complete my own cockpit?Dietmar

I agree, FSX at default shouldn't have this issue unless someone was running Windows 32 bit with only 2 GB of memory, then there might be issues. When users start piling on complex scenery and aircraft, this is typically when OOM errors start happening. If FSX was written as a 64 bit application, this would be less likely to occur.

This will most likely be an Aerosoft box. I think they started selling after SP1b was out, but it might still be SP1a

Hello Vaughan,I don't have it I am still waiting for it. Peter is right, it comes with an Aerosoft box but still not knowing which SP comes with it

Panos here's the info you may have missed :

NGX Backup CD Production:======================I almost for forgot this one: Many of you ordered the backup CD for the NGX. Our plan has been to put them into production once we have the SP1 process finished. We didn't really plan on SP1b- and we definitely didn't plan on SP1c... but 1c is the last SP1 update- so they will go into production within days of the SP1c release! Thanks for your patience!

It seems I am miles and miles back and I need to catch up.What is this 'NGX Backup CD'? Is it the 737NGX boxed version itself, or is it an extra CD that includes all the SPs?Also, what is the purpose of the SDK release? I thought that the SDK is only for the developers.Thank you for any help

NO, this is not the boxed version! It is simply a burned CD containing the same as the download file. And as Robert Randazzo explained it will be based on the version including SP1c.And if you want to know what version you'll exactly get with the boxed version from Aerosoft, ask Aerosoft directly

Hello mopperleOk, understood but if there is the direct download file already, plus the latest SP1c with it, then what is the reason of this burned CD? After purchasing the boxed version I have to order that CD to get the latest update?Im sorry but I cannot follow on this aspect

Panos Kotzias

Panos,People who cannot or do not want to copy or burn there own CD (copy the purchased software) can sometimes get one (order one) from the software company.

The reason is very simple: you have access to your PMDG-Download only fo a limited period of time. And if you don't make backups and your download gets lost, bad luck, you have to buy again. (not like in the Aerosoft downloadshop, where you have unlimited access). And that's the reason why PMDG offers this so called Backup-CD.Access to the servicepacks is not limited.

You don't have to buy the whole aircraft again. Only the extended download service. $5It's different, try not to mislead people.
